Meh. I think AC gets a bad rap from Ubisofts shitty practices. I've had fun with every AC I've played, I'll play this for sure when it goes on the inevitable deep sale in a couple months.

You definitely have a bias towards Kenshin over Shingen. Kenshin only ever defended against Shingen for a time but eventually Shinano province fell under Takeda control. Kenshin never once took Takeda land while Shingen took Uesugi territory in Kozuke. There is genuinely no argument for Kenshin to be above Shingen.

Come to the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno! Although few in number, authentic samurai armours are on display. Also on display is the famous Douji-giri Yasutsuna, one of "Five katanas under heaven". This katana is recognized as a national treasure.

The gameplay is leagues more fun than Sphere of Influence but the events and scenarios are far less balanced for ahistorical turns. This is especially noticable if you're wanting to play the Akechi after Honnoji or the Toyotomi in 1600, where the events reward your skill with a very minimal amount of castles

That time loading a gun took much time. A bow is faster. Depending on the fighting tactic, it makes sense to use the bow

I heard one stat that said that out of every 10 samurai, 6 would use a bow or gun, 3 would use pole-arms and 1 would use a sword, but that still means that in the melee contingent 1 out of every four samurai is wielding their sword.

its funny how there has actually been new evidence from a scroll by a Japanese Record keeper who says Akechi may not have even been there during Honno-ji and just ordered it or that someone did it on his behalf. Which I tend to believe given most rulers wouldn't put themselves in deaths way like that especially one who had plans after an attack, like Akechi did

No we don’t know for certain that Yasuke was given the rank of samurai since the word samurai wasn’t used officially for around 50 years after his time. We know for certain that he was regarded as a warrior and was granted an estate, however he was not expected to commit seppuku when other nobles were which suggests that he was regarded as something else. A highly respected individual, but samurai always made a point about their particular family lineage which Yasuke of course didn’t have being a foreigner. Perhaps he was considered a samurai by people using that term, but the sources do not explicitly refer to him as samurai.

Hey shogunate i have a question after rewatching the osaka videos : you keep referring to hideyori as a great leader but i fail to see that in terms of strategic or tactical value so my question is what actions did hideyori actually took during the sieges of Osaka ?

The lady of the house was actually in charge of defending it when her husband was gone. For wealthier women that meant that they commanded the bodyguards. In poor Samurai families without armed servants she had to wield the sword herself, so to speak. I'm not sure if it was common for high born women to receive extensive combat training, but some weapons were especially designed for them. The Sai, for example, was one such item that double functioned as a hair needle.

Yasuke is a historical figure that by modern standards is completely fictional already, half the time its videos like these that do zero research and just cope into thinking Yasuke was some special larger than life figure in japans feudal era. So much bs is completely made up about this guy to the point that people believed its history

As many others have already mentioned: to even bring up historical accuracy in relation to AC series is silly. The games have scifi technology, magical artifacts and battle between imaginary factions spanning hundreds of years. The games have been inspired by historical characters and cultures, but they have never been even close to realism. Nor do they need to.

The Oda firing line was very powerful but immovable, sure the musketeers could form up facing any direction but they wouldn’t have been able to move the palisades around, outflanking was the way to go, with a decoy attack in the centre while a strong force flanked the firing line, and of course the oda flanks were protected too, but if there was a chance to win it was on the flanks not a frontal charge. Really he shouldn’t have engaged and he was foolish to NOT listen to his generals. European armies would use cannons to soften up the musketeers ranks while advancing firing volleys of their own armies while simultaneously attacking on the flank, but this was the first major time gunners were used in Japan like this so we can’t blame them for not having an answer for it. Also I’m an armchair general I’m sure the situation on the ground was way more complicated than we will ever know

I'm 4 episodes in, I think Mariko picking up a naginata and fighting can just be explained away with "its a show in 2024, gotta have shoehorned girlpower shit" though granted its no where near as cringe worthy and in your face about it as most other stuff nowadays. I'm not gonna hold my breath on them explaining when and how she learned to fight.
