Got some info wrong on this. No 426 Hemis were used, the doors weren't welded shut, they got in & out of the windows because the character "General Lee" was a racecar. The orange paint wasn't some they "found" and decided to use, it was a choice.
Don Hardies Vega funn6 car
If you start at 1966 on how many hemis were built at the factory to be put into cars and how many sold in cars those other 426 hemis weren't used for racing those are just Street engines and I know there was a hell of a lot of hemis made from 1966 to 1972 yes I said it 1972 I know the facts they were there only if you check the box for the hemi and no Chrysler corporation didn't scrap the hemis
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the hemi engines production and sales! It's always great to learn more about the history of these iconic engines.
You forgot the 1974 to 76 AMC Matador.
Hey, thanks for the heads up about the 1974 to 76 AMC Matador! I'll make sure it gets its rightful mention next time.
How can say that the Porsche 914 is an ugly car ! It's a beautiful design and a great driving car, the bond bug.. now that is an ugly thing!! I have enjoyed the video so I have subscribed to the channel.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Maybe the Bond Bug needs a little more love. And thank you for subscribing, it means a lot to me!
You do not say 4 hundred 26 hemi this is the right way 426 hemi
Thanks for the heads up! 426 Hemi all the way!
I can only imagine in 50 years what will be said about all the ugly cars we have to choose from today. "This 2020 Xanadu Prince, the Xanadu Princess along with the Xanadu LGBTQIA++ we have here are three of the cars that symbolize what was going on during that period of time. They are ugly, they handled poorly and the parts to maintain the gas/electric drivetrain are impossible to find, they were as heavy as crap, but they had a very low theft rate. Make sure the copper hasn't been stripped out before buying one."
Wow, that comment really got me thinking! Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Looks like it is built backwards but I knew a girl built backwards was was great to dance with 😂
Haha, that's a unique way to look at it!
A 440 Civic!
I appreciate your support and enthusiasm for the content!
You are a jealous hater. Grow up and get over it.
dodge/plymouth same chevy/pontiac so why is dodge hemi worth more than plymouth same car
There is a 67 Satellite Hemi car in Calgary that now has a 440 in it. When i worked for Blaskin and lane Firestone in Forest Lawn it came to the shop for some work and i talked to the owner and if i remember right he is the only owner of that car. To him it was special but not that special if that makes sense?
Thank you for sharing that story! It's always interesting to hear about these one-of-a-kind encounters with car owners.
your video sucks it shows the wrong engines and cars with small blocks or old firepower gen1 hemis duh... Its just Lazy videomaking. you didn't do the leg work to do it right.
Honorable mention: Factory 302 Mavericks
Thanks for the shoutout!
How do you solder a door shut? They welded them shut during the initial series of the car being built in the show, so it was already known they were welded shut!~
Thanks for your comment! It's interesting to see the differences in how doors were sealed in the show.
Was said 138 Chargers were used, an the rims were Rocket Racing Rims, my 1977 Cordoba had the same ones I got in 1994, it had a 410BB (bored our 10ci in 80s).
Thank you for sharing your personal connection to the movie cars!
Especially, when anticipating the passing gear it could be slightly wild if the loud pedal was pinned! Only to realize over time required lifting up on the door handle when shutting the door! Regardless, was a blast to drive..
Thank you for sharing your experience, it's always fun to hear about the little quirks of a vehicle.
Hmmmmm... Interesting. Tell me, as someone who has owned both, what's the difference between the Pinto and the Bobcat?
one would saute you, where the other one would barbecue you
My first hot rod was a 73 Vega GT hatch with a 400 small block Chevrolet 400 Auto transmission. Tiny car handled the power well
Thanks for sharing your hot rod story, it's always great to hear about fellow car enthusiasts!
It’s a mini camero with a starsky and hutch livery
Thank you for noticing the cool Starsky and Hutch livery on the mini Camaro!
I want a Hemi in a Dodge CoroNAY...
Your enthusiasm is contagious, thanks for sharing your passion with us!
I guess the AI has a French accent. 😂
@@CARSROAR Guess you did not catch the fact it was a poke or laugh at the way Coronet was pronounced Coro-nay.
The doors were welded shut, because on the dukes of Hazzard, the general Lee was a racing car, and was explained on an episode of The dukes of Hazzard, look it up on KZread, how to General Lee was born, and there is nothing wrong with that Confederate flag or the name General Lee,i would also like to mention that John Schneider explains all of this in one of his videos
I appreciate you taking the time to explain the history behind the General Lee and the Confederate flag. It's important to understand the context.
So according to your loose logic of the Subaru SVX being an American car… as it was released under a different ‘Name’ in Japan… the makes zero sense. So is a Lexus RX 350 …. American or Japanese? Because in Japan it was sold as a Toyota Harrier. What about a Camry? What about a Pathfinder? Or a 4Runner? … I’ll give you a free pass on the proudly Canadian Bricklin, but not the Subaru.
Appreciate you pointing out these examples! It's always great to delve deeper into the intricacies of car branding.
Duke Brothers 🤦♂️
Ive got a pair of Mercury Bobcats. Both 1980, one is a yellow Bobcat with the ESS trim on it. European sports sedan - ESS which was offered on certain Granadas and I think Mercury Monarchs also. My other is Bobcat with the " Cruisin" package and she is beautiful, black over silver with black base. Red sport striping and aluminum sport rims. Picked them both up through a friend of my Father, whom had twin daughters. That was 20 yrs ago and as a collector of 70s Ford Cars these are my unicorns, Both of which have under 20k on the clock. I get weird looks when I go the the gas station, and alot of questions. Fun to drive though Great content here thank you.
Your Mercury Bobcats are total showstoppers! It's cool to hear about your collection. Keep having fun driving them around also it's awesome to hear that you enjoy the content.
Where's the Brubaker box or the Dale or .....
It was a stock car that's why the doors were welded shut
I appreciate you noticing that detail!
Bricklin is Canadian
DeLorean is American? Ahhh yeah, Belfast, that most American of all the Irish cities...😂
Yeah, they were an American car manufacturer. Ford and Chevy are too. Some of their cars were made in other countries too.
I guess cars like to travel and explore the world too!
And supported by the British tax payer. Not that DeLorean was anything to be proud of. America can claim it if it means that much to them.
The Subaru SVX is not "American" at all.
You have a most flexible idea of what was American!
I would have ordered the 350 Super Charged, small, light, strong and still sound Great
It's definitely a solid choice!
Most of the cars used were 318 or 383 powered cars. They used a few 440 rt cars, and NO 426 Hemi cars were used.
It's interesting how they chose the engine types for the cars in the video.
There were 320 chargers used in the dukes. And miniature RC models in the last season
Thanks for sharing this interesting tidbit about the show!
The reason the general lee was orange be it was the only color cooter had a nuff in his garage you should rewatch the show you don’t what you missing I don’t think you ever watch it
I appreciate the insight into the color choice of the General Lee. It adds another layer of appreciation for the show.
They welded the door shut in the tv show for racing it was in first episode did you watch the show 😂
Well we are totally aware and had to leave our comment box open to listen about such interesting facts from our viewers . Thanks for watching Cars Roar.
In 84, I put a 400 in a Vega wagon, it was scary to drive, however it was a real blast, especially when you pull up to a Transam or Mustang and smoke them in the quarter mile!
Those were the days !
I really hate it when people don't do their research when presenting on a particular topic. Especially when it's one of the most famous cars ever made. 🤦
I will surely cover some more interesting facts if we ever come up with the next video on this topic. Thanks for watching Cars Roar.
@@CARSROAR Correct ones next time?
Interesting
Thanks for watching Cars Roar .
What the literal F**K do you mean "The reason Bo and Luke Duke consistently entered through the windows is still a mystery though." and further how the stink do you consider the General Lee a "police car"?????????????????????????????????????????????? You'd have to live under a rock to NOT UNDERSTAND why the General Lee had a large ZERO ONE painted on the doors, because IT IS A RACE CAR first and foremost.....which also due to race regulations, "Door must be welded shut for safety"!!
Lt1 Vega would be plenty for street driving on daily basis
It sure would be a fun ride for daily street driving!
The general lee's doors were welded shut because it was a race car
At last they were safe.
No hemi cars were used on the Dukes, and none of the cars actually had the doors welded shut.
Technically, there was 1 original Hemi car that was used on the show during Season 3 (based on VIN). But Warner Brothers had purchased that car already missing it's engine, so they slid in a 383 from the salvage yard to get it running.
The doors were always welded shut cause the duke boys wanted to be racers on the nascar circuit
yeah it was a safety measure as well.
On the show they were well did shut because it was a race car
I used to watch the show and tbh it still trends .
375 generals wreck
You queer mate wrong
As a die hard fan of the dukes I can tell you 99% of your facts are wrong
you are correct !
Right he's just making it up as he goes!
@@stoogeworthy I've been to the Cooter's in Nashville. Last week.
Agreed
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your dedication to the Dukes.
The flag is part of the South. That's where NASCAR was born.I've been a fan for years of NASCAR.I just turned fifty seven monday
Does anybody agree with me
Look how many wins Richard petty got driving A mopor
@@briancarlisle4176 I do, because Georgia and Mississippi need to bring it back. Now.
That's awesome to hear! Happy belated birthday!
Can you say HEMI.....Doooonald TRUMP.........
HEMI....Doooonald TRUMP....sounds like a catchy tune!
I don't see anything contraversial about the General lee or it's rebel flag
It's less no matter how much we talk about the great General Lee however we will surely try to cover that and all other topics if we come up with the next part .
