    It would be nice but I doubt they'd listen. Politicians have been paid off. John McCain sold this place out years ago when he swapped a worthless piece of land owned by Rio Tinto in Arizona for the parcel of land that is Oak Flat. All parties knew of the copper load at oak flat and secretly installed this land swap provision into a much larger energy bill. It passed without notice. Washington: criminals all!

    The North Magnetic Pole has been moving towards Siberia, and the Magnetism that was surrounding Canada, USA, and Mexico is becoming less each year, strangely that Magnetism was much stronger 100 years ago when many resources of Canada USA and Mexico still hadn't been mined, that Magnetism is very important to Life on Earth including humans, the day that magnetism falls down Earth could suffer an extintion level event that could kill even humans, Now the question why 100 years ago Magnetism was strong in North America, and now is becoming less is it due to extraction of minerals of all kinds and destruction of the original structures of the Earth (like rivers, mountains, hills, etc) or is there any other reason, because flipping magnetic poles by themselfs is not an explanation, and if we lie or cheat or keep acting wrong is going to wipe us with life as well.

    The surface of Oak Flat is a very small area to sacrifice in order to obtain 40 billion pounds of copper. A deposit like this is exceedingly rare anywhere in the world. Copper has to be mined from where it exists not where we might like it to be. The oak trees and volcanic boulders are found many other places in Arizona that are not underlain by a world class ore deposit. Mining of the Resolution deposit is the highest and best use of this land.

  • @charleysdaytrippin
    @charleysdaytrippin2 ай бұрын

    There is no other place like Oak Flat. Simple logic is what's caused the controversy. It does seem like a small parcel of land, insignificant. Another treaty between the local apache tribes and the u.s. government has been all but destroyed. The residents surrounding the area could use 40 years of mine work. So the controversy continues. I would suggest a trip to oak flat.

  • @AZGUY643
    @AZGUY6432 ай бұрын

    @charleysdaytrippin I've been there many times and agree that it is a nice spot. As a former exploration geologist, I'm acutely aware of how rare a deposit like Resolution is, the difficulty of finding it in the first place and developing it. It's not just about money but its help in meeting critical US need for copper. Especially since the present political world is so obsessed with electric everything.

  • @charleysdaytrippin
    @charleysdaytrippin2 ай бұрын

    @@AZGUY643 I believe the mining interests will prevail. The point you make about the need for copper will be the final consideration. Seems a shame to lose the place. Thank you for making this beautiful film. I am from here and I strand with Apache Stronghold to protect this ceremonial and sacred area. The No 9 shaft has taken enough copper from rich veins for all its worth. It time to leave what is left alone. The copper in a phorphy type of deposit is far too destructive to take and the dewatering and use of water is outlandish. The Apache Mountain is also in danger of being affected Not to mention my beautiful home town Superior. The mine is run by Rio Tinto a foreign company who has not been transparent on everything from the environmental process to stakeholders, and where the copper would all go. This is one project that should not tale place! More harm on so many levels outweigh temporary profits that do not pay out per the use of water and the complete irreversible destruction to such a most precious and sacred place. I could go on and on with the reasons why this mining operation should not be done.

    Excellent job on the Apache Trail videos. I spent my childhood in Mesa, Arizona (1960's early 70's). The all -dirt road up to lake Roosevelt was a frequent outing. At that time you could drive through the tunnel and across the dam. Your video brought back fond memories of the trail. Tortilla Flats at the time, was a small wood building. The memory of the wooden Indian on the porch of the store has stayed with me for my entire life. My family and I had many picnics along Fish Creek and at that time, among cottonwood trees.
