I am one of four passionate physics teachers at Webster Groves High School in St. Louis, MO. I teach AP Physics 1 and 2, but I teach calculus with the class as well, since physics makes no sense without it. I use Walker's excellent textbook, Physics 2nd Edition. My videos are organized into playlists for each chapter of that book, and really should be watched sequentially if you have the time.

I try to align my class with a first-year physics class at top universities. You may find the videos useful for tutoring and review. Please do problems immediately after watching a video. This is how you will become a stronger physicist.

Some people have been asking to support my work with beer. Money can be more easily sent, so please feel free to send me some at the GoFundMe page link below. I'll be very grateful if you do - my dog pooped in my wife's new handbag. Also, let me know if a video is particularly unhelpful - I will redo it when I have time.

Planck's approach was to analyze the entropy of blackbody radiation as a function of energy. To make both high-frequency and low-frequency data consistent with the Second Law of Thermodynamics, he included an additional "guess" term proportional to the frequency (hf); this results in Planck's Law. Planck's application of Boltzmann's Statistical Mechanics to justify his guess then led to his revolutionary conclusion that the material of the walls emit and absorb radiation in discrete quanta. A paper titled "Planck’s Route to the Black Body Radiation Formula and Quantization" by Michael Fowler (7/25/08) gives a nice discussion.

This video is erroneous. First you say that the X Axis to the right is a Time axis. Afterwards you say it is Distance. You do not have clarity of what you are saying. Another problem is that you give the impression that Electric field can transmit from one place to another, own its own. Electric field alone can't do this. In such case (where Electric field alone is present, mostly extremely low frequency cases) what happens is just Capacitive action. Resulting in phase shift between Voltage and Current waves in a physical conductor. Reactive elements (Capacitor and Inductance) are just energy storing elements. They do not cause energy expenditure. Electromagnetic wave transmission is a different phenomenon. EM wave propagation needs energy loss from the source. And it is like Ohmic power loss in a Resistor. Here, in net effect, free space acts like an Ohmic resistor. And EM wave transmission is possible by very quick and successive conversion between Electric and Magnetic fields. It seems that you do not have clear concept of how it happens.

yeah but is centripital force a thing either? in the demonstration you provided the force keeping the the ball moving around in a circle before you lifted the thing is the normal force in satellites orbiting planets and planets orbiting stars, it's gravity which makes the satellite or planet change direction and in a hammer throw the thing keeping the ball from flying off before you release is the tension.

The ball changed in acceleration vector, a change in direction. In the ball's reference frame that change of direction was the result of a force. According to Newton, a change of direction happens from the result of the force. In your reference frame, you have no idea why it changed direction because you will not give any recognition to force you are not directly experiencing as the observer in your reference frame. But it is not about you, it is about the ball. Relativity also applies to you. So you introduce Newton's law to explain away what you do do not understand by misunderstanding inertia.

"A" for passion. and I agree . . . Mostly . . . if you look at the "Straight Line" as a vector you would say it's "Tangent" to the vector of the centripetal force. HOWEVER: it's infinitely tending toward a path that is more and more "RADIAL" to the center point of previous rotation. So it's true that the Centrifugal force has disappeared instantly; along with the centripetal force but I believe the Centrifugal force is sneakily laying dormant in the 8 ball in the form of inertia just waiting to POUNCE on the next Centripetal force that comes along.. . . and . . . It WILL attack . . . without hesitation ! and without remorse or empathy ! ! !

Newton's third law says that when skater A pushes on skater B, there is an equal force applied by skater B to skater A (Mass isn't actually a consideration in Newton's third law). It's Newton's second law that tells you this will result in the lighter skater experiencing more acceleration.

Nice vid, very informative, im a wee bit perplexed as i read that cibalt strings, probably an alloy variation with cobalt to add mire density and magnetic attraction to the string for the magnets and coil that will behave together in a different way than standard nickle strings in relation to i mean magnetically, so im thinking less sustain, or if you lower the pickups away from the strings as many peopledo to get a specifictype of tone on the bass end of the thicker strings- so more volume or idk a ckearer signal without losing the sustain., so when you saud low mass - big acceleration, then wouldn't string mass be more relative to the materials of the strings used in regards of how magnetically atttractive the strings are? Btw- cobalt strings feel so weird to plays and they dont last long, i tried a set and they were a touch louder and i suspect youd only realy notice a considerable difference at high amplified levels over 80db to110db gigging levels. Were every little touch of the string is heard, very unforgiving. The way the cibalt strings felt to play was sticky, difficult to move say bar chords up and down the neck, very unpleasant but i had to try, i try out a new set of strings i dint know anything about about every month or 3 months but i stick to the elixir coated strings they last a fair bit and sound great. Feel great.

Nice video and presentation. Ty and Jean gave us a curve fitting solution is mathematics but science. His model tells us that intensity rise up to infinity with increase. And that marks the uv catastrophe started. On the other hand Planck offer a final curve fitting solution is also mathematics but science. The catastrophe came out of our ignorance, selective learning and inability of connecting dots so to speak. Essentially, at the time the instrument’s sensor was sealed inside a glass container and we all know that glass attenuates infrared and ultraviolet that masked off real response, in the end we saw a distorted view on page 1:25 which we mistaken for real. That means we still don’t know the real characteristics is until we have found a new material but glass to preserve the real information in the signal, light. We have PhD everywhere today but they offer us D and not Ph. Without philosophy science is soulless.

Wow! Why is the direction of the magnetic field around currents so predictable? I guess what I’m asking is why do they always point one way (I.e., clockwise around a current), rather than the other way? I know some people say this is convention. But the universe really seems to operate based on the right hand rule, it must more than a convention. Is there something quantum that is causing the field around a current to always be the same predictable, preferred direction?
