Sorry for the delay in response, we’ve been away! Because LA is so spread out everyone drives. This means it’s generally really easy to park, everywhere is geared up for cars with lots parking. The only places it was trickier was the Griffith Observatory where the car park was small but we went early and it was empty. Santa Monica had lots of parking but was really busy. We managed to get a spot without a wait though. Everywhere else was easy. The majority of parking was either free or very low cost! Have a great trip.

So great to see you had a lovely time. Just one small detail: Vliegende Hollander isn’t a wooden rollercoaster. It is a nice mix between a dark ride and a watercoaster. You should definitely check it out during your next visit.

Your trip popped up in my feed - very good. We drive to Amsterdam and stay at the Hampton by Hilton at Bijlmer next to the AFAS stadium and train into Amsterdam. It has secure covered parking and EV charging, a great restaurant underneath and others around. The rail station is 4 minutes walk from the hotel and 15 minutes by train to Amsterdam Central. Last visit, Rembrandtsplein had a statue display of the "Nightwatch by Rembrandt. We were there to meet with Caro Emerald and her producers plus attend their last big concert in the AFAS theatre just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Driving there is £100 cheaper and over an hour quicker than flying - and nicer with a lunchstop. The Jordaan is where Caro Emerald grew up when it was a very poor rundown area .. it is also the name of her current singing persona . "The Jordan"

@@paradisefallsfamily We live in Kent, in a small village just 20minutes from the Chunnel ... so Amsterdam and Europe is an easy visit. The trams are excellent for getting around and Amsterdam is great off season without hordes of tourists or drunk English football fans.

We think it definitely is! We talk a bit more about it on our New York vlog but it’s $200 to add it on and you get a free weekend night at an Intercontinental. We used this for our NYC stay and more than made the money back on that stay alone. All of the other perks too mean if you use the Intercontinental chain more than once a year really it is definitely good value (in our opinion!)

When you’re in between hotels - and have luggage is it ok to stop and go about for an hour as you’ve mentioned here what safety precautions would you suggest. This is my only concern when on this road trip for pit stops when we have luggage in the car. We are also a family travelling with 3 kids from Europe so we are going to try only travel with 2 medium sized luggages to fit properly in the boot. Any tips re this please would be appreciated.

This is always a concern for us too! We make sure we keep our passports on us at all times and quite often carry around electronics in our backpacks too. We keep as much in the boot as covered as possible so using suitcases just to fit in the boot would be a really good idea. I hope you have an amazing trip!

I went on NCLPride of America in December 2023, worst cruise I’ve ever been on. No fun on ship after 10:00 pm. Comedy show 2 nights for 30 minutes, Motown show 2 nights 30 minutes, 1 movie night for the kids, and that was all the entertainment. Beside the music around the pool area in the afternoon. Paid extra for Wi-Fi upgrade it only worked when ship was dock, I expected it to work while we were cruising for island to island. Excursions in Hilo, the tour bus dropped us off in a parking lot with a tent city homeless camp, felt very unsafe. I was very disappointed with both services on and off the ship.

Ah it’s such a shame you didn’t enjoy it. We always knew it would just be a floating hotel for us so we were not really interested in other entertainment so it’s good to have another view where priorities are different.

Love your view(opinion) of our island, especially the fact that you enjoyed Hilo, visitors usually prefer Kona side. I understand you didn't have the chance to experience Kona, though I am a Hilo native and prefer Hilo and our Hamakua coast, Kona side has the better beaches, and cleaner. I put a deposit down a few days ago for the 11 day Hawaiian Islands package which includes 3 days in Wikki at the Hyett then the seven day cruise on POA for mid to late October 2025 in there Deluxe Owner's Suite. Since you have been on POA recently do you feel it was worth the cost? Also considering ALL the bad reviews I have read on cruise Critic not only post covid in 2022 ( which I expected being cruising was still under staffed etc) but I did see a lot of bad reviews from 2023 and from here in January 2024. I'm on the fence about pulling my deposit and going elsewhere for our first trip to Hawaii as this trip will be a bucket list trip and even though it's a port intensive itinerary and Hawaii is the main attraction we still want great service and food and feel comfortable on NCL. I would say like staying in a upscale hotel like a Hilton, Marriott or Hyett for what NCL charges because it's under a American flag and operation hence the lofty price tag. Lol. Thank you for sharing your cruise as people's real experiences help to give someone like me some idea of what this first time trip to Hawaii and on NCL POA could look like.

We had read all of the bad reviews and were concerned too. Hopefully this vlog puts your mind at rest a little bit. We didn’t spend a lot of time on the ship and knew going into it that it would be a good way for us to travel around the islands without the hassle of flying and moving hotels so often. We thought it was perfect for that and would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to spend their time exploring the different islands rather than just having one (or two) bases!

Thank you for your return comments. We decided to pull back our deposit and have our TA work with different cruise lines and Itinerary for 2025 to Hawaii. Just too many BAD reviews from NCL and there ship Pride Of America with multiple sites and plenty of customer complaints most recently in January 2024 and many in 2023 and 2022. When you are spending thousands to visit the Hawaiian Islands we have a expectation. I know not everything is perfect but my wife and I just didn't feel comfortable going with NCL and there ship Pride of America. I will say before calling my TA I thought I would contact NCL customer service and to my surprise no pushback from them asking me in depth questions of why we canceled our 11 day cruise tour in there Deluxe Owner's Suite. I nicely told her that why we made the decision we did and that she should pass the information up to NCL executives to look into why so many people are complaining that makes there brand look bad. I have taken two cruises in the past with NCL in 1993 and 2017 one was great and the other good so I don't despise the brand as I think it's more isolated. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we are glad your experience was a good one. Cheers!

UK is the ugliest place I've ever been especially London. I've never been to Holland, but even if it looks pretty much the same, it still will be better.
Your trip popped up in my feed - very good. We drive to Amsterdam and stay at the Hampton by Hilton at Bijlmer next to the AFAS stadium and train into Amsterdam. It has secure covered parking and EV charging, a great restaurant underneath and others around. The rail station is 4 minutes walk from the hotel and 15 minutes by train to Amsterdam Central. Last visit, Rembrandtsplein had a statue display of the "Nightwatch by Rembrandt. We were there to meet with Caro Emerald and her producers plus attend their last big concert in the AFAS theatre just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Driving there is £100 cheaper and over an hour quicker than flying - and nicer with a lunchstop. The Jordaan is where Caro Emerald grew up when it was a very poor rundown area .. it is also the name of her current singing persona . "The Jordan"

@@paradisefallsfamily We live in Kent, in a small village just 20minutes from the Chunnel ... so Amsterdam and Europe is an easy visit. The trams are excellent for getting around and Amsterdam is great off season without hordes of tourists or drunk English football fans.

We didn’t use it but I believe it is free!
Did you use Uber or another not-taxi service on any of the islands?
We used Uber quite a bit, it was really easy. We used a mix of Uber and local taxis (whatever was most convenient).
As a person who has lived for periods of time on the Big Island, I think this is very well presented, clear and informative. It will encourage cruise ship visitors to have a more in-depth experience on a truly amazing island.

We think it definitely is! We talk a bit more about it on our New York vlog but it’s $200 to add it on and you get a free weekend night at an Intercontinental. We used this for our NYC stay and more than made the money back on that stay alone. All of the other perks too mean if you use the Intercontinental chain more than once a year really it is definitely good value (in our opinion!)

When you’re in between hotels - and have luggage is it ok to stop and go about for an hour as you’ve mentioned here what safety precautions would you suggest. This is my only concern when on this road trip for pit stops when we have luggage in the car. We are also a family travelling with 3 kids from Europe so we are going to try only travel with 2 medium sized luggages to fit properly in the boot. Any tips re this please would be appreciated.
This is always a concern for us too! We make sure we keep our passports on us at all times and quite often carry around electronics in our backpacks too. We keep as much in the boot as covered as possible so using suitcases just to fit in the boot would be a really good idea. I hope you have an amazing trip!

It was about 10 mins outside of Yosemite. I’ve just googled to work it out and it is in a place called Oakhurst, California. Yosemite is such an amazing place, I hope you all love it!

I will be joining the POA crew in two weeks as an Assistant Waiter, and I’ve heard that the service is hit or miss. I plan to make every guest I interact with have a memorable and positive dining experience!

I went on NCLPride of America in December 2023, worst cruise I’ve ever been on. No fun on ship after 10:00 pm. Comedy show 2 nights for 30 minutes, Motown show 2 nights 30 minutes, 1 movie night for the kids, and that was all the entertainment. Beside the music around the pool area in the afternoon. Paid extra for Wi-Fi upgrade it only worked when ship was dock, I expected it to work while we were cruising for island to island. Excursions in Hilo, the tour bus dropped us off in a parking lot with a tent city homeless camp, felt very unsafe. I was very disappointed with both services on and off the ship.
Ah it’s such a shame you didn’t enjoy it. We always knew it would just be a floating hotel for us so we were not really interested in other entertainment so it’s good to have another view where priorities are different.

Didn't they have like a late night dj and dancing somewhere like on other ships?

Love your view(opinion) of our island, especially the fact that you enjoyed Hilo, visitors usually prefer Kona side. I understand you didn't have the chance to experience Kona, though I am a Hilo native and prefer Hilo and our Hamakua coast, Kona side has the better beaches, and cleaner. Hope you guys are able to get back to our Hawaii to experience more of what we are! Thank you for your awesome revie.

I put a deposit down a few days ago for the 11 day Hawaiian Islands package which includes 3 days in Wikki at the Hyett then the seven day cruise on POA for mid to late October 2025 in there Deluxe Owner's Suite. Since you have been on POA recently do you feel it was worth the cost? Also considering ALL the bad reviews I have read on cruise Critic not only post covid in 2022 ( which I expected being cruising was still under staffed etc) but I did see a lot of bad reviews from 2023 and from here in January 2024. I'm on the fence about pulling my deposit and going elsewhere for our first trip to Hawaii as this trip will be a bucket list trip and even though it's a port intensive itinerary and Hawaii is the main attraction we still want great service and food and feel comfortable on NCL. I would say like staying in a upscale hotel like a Hilton, Marriott or Hyett for what NCL charges because it's under a American flag and operation hence the lofty price tag. Lol. Thank you for sharing your cruise as people's real experiences help to give someone like me some idea of what this first time trip to Hawaii and on NCL POA could look like.
We had read all of the bad reviews and were concerned too. Hopefully this vlog puts your mind at rest a little bit. We didn’t spend a lot of time on the ship and knew going into it that it would be a good way for us to travel around the islands without the hassle of flying and moving hotels so often. We thought it was perfect for that and would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to spend their time exploring the different islands rather than just having one (or two) bases!
Thank you for your return comments. We decided to pull back our deposit and have our TA work with different cruise lines and Itinerary for 2025 to Hawaii. Just too many BAD reviews from NCL and there ship Pride Of America with multiple sites and plenty of customer complaints most recently in January 2024 and many in 2023 and 2022. When you are spending thousands to visit the Hawaiian Islands we have a expectation. I know not everything is perfect but my wife and I just didn't feel comfortable going with NCL and there ship Pride of America. I will say before calling my TA I thought I would contact NCL customer service and to my surprise no pushback from them asking me in depth questions of why we canceled our 11 day cruise tour in there Deluxe Owner's Suite. I nicely told her that why we made the decision we did and that she should pass the information up to NCL executives to look into why so many people are complaining that makes there brand look bad. I have taken two cruises in the past with NCL in 1993 and 2017 one was great and the other good so I don't despise the brand as I think it's more isolated.
