Ash Cook Fly Fishing Channel
Ash Cook Fly Fishing Channel
Hi all. This is my fly fishing channel which will cover my fishing journey. Also some fly tying and set up tips and tricks that I have picked up on the way. I fish for trout, grayling and salmon mainly in Yorkshire and Cumbria. I have also had a few away trips to Scotland and Wales.
Hopefully these videos will be relatable and make you guys smile as much as they made me whilst making them. Instagram: ashflyfishing

its not salmon fishing its salmon casting though
Nice one thanks
Your right it don’t get much simpler 👍
I’m starting out at fly tying and will definitely give a batch of these a go. Great video. Fair play
Nice video. Is the coq du Lyon essential or can I sub in something else?
You could use anything really. Sometimes I buy a cheap paintbrush and use two fibres from it to make a tail 👍
Nice fly!
Please add closed captions
Nice simple tie …thanks for sharing…do you use Tiemco ‘dry magic’ or ‘dry fly gel’ on your CDC wings please ? thanks
Tiemco dry magic 👍
a video over 11 minutes to tie a fly that will take you appr. 2 minutes...
Il do it 2 minutes next time then you’ll moan about it only been 2 minutes. Thanks for the great feed back. 👌
A nice easy fly. I will definitely do up some and put them in my box.
Hi, is this the river Eden that runs through Appleby?
Thanks, more please. I’m new to fly
P r o m o S M ☹️
Great video
Ash, your great lad .
If it was that easy it would be called catching not fishing
Well done Ash great video, sound advice on the Mucilin I use it a lot.
Sound advice there, ld love it if you talked us through what you're doing whilst fishing👍
Enjoyed this one Ash!
Thanks Rhys much appreciated. 👍
Great tutorial Ash! I like the rough headstreams myself for dry fly when it's low, and on the small streams I fish its where you'll often find that bonus bigger trout. Have to say, 15 ft is about the max leader I can cope with without tangling every other cast! Could be my crap casting though 😂 great stuff👍
Hi you have nice videos, maybe we meet at Ribbel I go often ,I like your chest pack 😃. Do more often videos,Great angler
Magic.👍
Well done Ash! It's good to see local NW folks on you tube! Long shot, ribble springer! But great video nonetheless! I tend to just fish for trout and coarse fish these days, I never had the patience for all the blanking involved with salmon fishing, even in the good old days 😂 You've inspired me, I've just returned from a holiday in Sutherland, I fished the Kyle and Dornoch firth for saltwater sea trout and blanked. I've some lovely footage of the scenery so I'm not going to waste it, I'll get a video out of the trip!!😊 Subbed 👍
2 mins in. Looks like NO water.
Caught bigger with kids net down edisford and brungerley and we were not bull shitting with fancy talke and cheap tackle
👍Just down the road from us, my lad caught his first brownie on the fly there.
It's not called spring salmon fishing anymore, it's a days casting practice😁
Nice video Ash, it is a lovely stretch at Mitton but I think its a bit early probably better end of May
Hmm attach a go pro to the bottom and swing the fly over it while jerking the rod like that and see what the fly does, or doesent....
Awesome video! I subbed to your channel.
Beautiful place❤
fished it loads of times there, had one at Hodder foot pool and one just before Calder foot, its a bit to early yet to be that far up the ribble, they don't usually show up there until the end of may early June or even later in some seasons. anyways its a beautiful place to be fishing regardless if you don't get a fish, tight lines for the rest of the season.
When they were doing the tagging program they had them from March further up stream so you never no. It’s a lovely beat that’s for sure
Fished that beat mebby a dozen times, apart from trout allus blanked, never had a bad day tho. You got to love fishin to be Salmon fisher, catching comes second. Ya Heart beats best on the river bank. Blanked on Ure yesterday, magic day, bit windy for my liking tho. Nice film👏🎣
@AboveAverageAngler but when you do get one all the blank days are soon forgotten, it's the best feeling when you bend into a salmon but your heart sinks when they throw the hook
Get back to the Trout lad !
Lovely fish. I personally prefer it if you would talk to us. Cheers
Brilliant film! Keep up the good work
Hi Ash, is your leader a knotted or knotless? I see they’ve got both on there website. Many thanks
Great stuff, are you still making vids
Belter
loved watching it mate and as a fellow lefty it makes sense!
Plenty nymphs in them boxes.👍
Brilliant👍
Brilliant tips mate! Here's one from me... when there's no fish rising put a dry fly on the point, then add six more of the same pattern on droppers. It'll look like a hatch has started and the fish will start feeding. It must be the same pattern though otherwise it will just confuse the fish about what's hatching off. Thank me later 👍😁
Fantastic tip mate!!!! Confuse the fish into a hatch. Could work wonders in the depths of winter 👍
Should have posted it on the 1st April Ash
Tough conditions.
Nice video Ash did you get most of your fish just below the viaduct ?
Hi stuart got most of them from viaduct to gleedasheet
@@ashcookflyfishingchannel9918 Thanks Ash may have a look at gildersleets later in the week.
Fantastic , great to have a look at the set up and the flies.👍
I like to trow dries aswell as nymping what would you recommend as a leader lenght and set up for 10ft 3wt I just use a single rod
My nymphing leader is 14ft of fluo sempe in white. Two toned indicator about 50cm. Dries I use a 9ft tapered leader to a tippet ring, then build my leader of that hope that helps
👍👍 Nice vids also that set up mite work out I'd need a butt section I'm just tryn out new ideas make things a bit easier,, thank you,
Super video and appreciate the info.👍
Brilliant as you say you can’t win. All the time.👍
