I was disappointed that I never got to that state on my USA trips. Next time! It looks like you had a great trip as usual finding some pretty cool and interesting history and quirky places. I look forward to seeing your next trip into New Mexico! Maybe I'll even see you there in person! 🤣

Hello. Exploring New Mexico. Rock park is a typical American landscape. Silver City with mining history. The history museum is impressive. It has nice townscape. National forest trails. It has beautiful natural landscape. Pinos with gold mining history. The museum and gift shop are good. Hatch with artistic works. This town has a lot of chili peppers. LOL. Cloud Croft Village. Mountain hike. The view is amazing. Thanks for taking me. Thanks my friend.

Good to see you again, Tim! Very cool stuff there. I imagine the VLA would be an impressive sight; a couple of times on WV trips I've gone by Green Bank, which has the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope, that's a pretty impressive sight itself. The VLA is much larger in aggregate, Green Bank is a single antenna, something like a hundred meters in diameter. First time I went by the science center was closed (mid pandemic), there was a sign on the door pointing out a red gate at the far end of the parking area beyond which no electronic devices could be used (the town has no wi-fi at all, it's a radio quiet zone), and the last line on the sign read, "We could pick up your phone in airplane mode on Saturn".
@TimKreitzAdventuresАй бұрын
Yeah, I've seen and read about Green Bank. It'll be interesting to see how long they can keep that area a quiet zone into the future. It's located in one of the most population-dense parts of the country.
@triumphrider9796Ай бұрын
Actually, the population density nearby is pretty low, nearest cities of any size are about fifty miles away from it, it's not far from Spruce Knob, the highest point in WV. Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area also not far away. Greenbrier resort (and its cold-war era bunker) are probably closer but even there it's a pretty small town, really. Great riding in those hills and on out to New River Gorge (now a National Park). BTW, I have a trip coming up into PA next month, and recently saw that in Scranton (about an hour from my mom's place) there's a "Steamtown" museum, and one of the engines they have is a Union Pacific Big Boy! There's a sight I just have to see!
