Really appreciate the critique, a lot of good tips. I am about to put all new gutters on a 2800 sq. ft. ranch style house, so quite a bit perimeter. In the past, I have applied caulk between top edge of gutter and facia, but that could be trying to solve a problem that doesn't actually exist.
Great videos man. I watched your "How to Hang a gutter with one man" video and it helped me install a 30 foot run today. That video alone helped soo much.
Good emphasis on screws showing, pitch of run, square feet of roof per down spout, gutter under drip edge, and direction of flow for down spouts, the small details are significant. Thank you!
Great video! Is it standard practice to put tar or some other sealant between the shingles and the drip edge so there’s a seal that prevents the water from going behind the gutter? Wondering if roofers do that when installing new roofs
I charge starting at 9.50
7$ ft?
THanks for the great info! I have this problem and it seems to have been after I installed gutter brushes to keep large vegetation from plugging them (still require maintenance) but do you see a problem with using gutter brushes? Could it be interfering with the water flow?
Hi, is there a reason why the Lenox hvac cutter not available in Canada? We are starting a business soon hope you can help us find one or an alternative. Love your channel always watch the videos and bought all tools recommended. Thanks
they discontinued the lennox tool. Try the one from malco
How much should cut and drop cost? I was quoted $1,800 for a 32' gutter last week and that seems absurd.
I agree: something is wrong here that might be generational: woods are no longer durable and typical low cost modern fascia will NOT withstand the water it will be exposed to if the drip edge doesn't reach into the gutters. Modern materials have no margin for error.
I have leaks through the screw hole.
I can appreciate your professional opinion but this is a DIY project so no such homeowner would have all the fancy machines and tools you use everyday. I would MacGuyver this the same way Tommy did and call it a job done. I called a gutter guy in for some simple repairs but he insisted on replacing my 30 yo gutters, which still functioned fine and in decent shape. Quoted me $3k for the job. I declined and replaced what I needed for about $200 + my time.
Cant wait to get to know you bro! very inspiring stuff!
steel roof. sliding snow? I had a lot of work end up on the ground first snowfall
Wow
Thanks for the info! Not sure if your more recent videos are the same, but please balance/flatten the volume. I had it cranked up to hear what you're saying the whole time. Then, the music at the end blew out my ear drums. lol
Instead of messing with extra flashing, I took a tube of gutter sealant and ran a small bead at the top of the gutter where it meets the fascia. Seems to have solved it. My shingles are cut even with the drip edge and the drip edge is tight against the fascia, I think that may be the culprit.
Without Facia I might add!🤯
Wow Bro!🤯😳👌 Waterfalls into an inside tank! I'm impressed!
Ooooh...studly!
How do I attach it to my steel pole barn? Lol
Tommy is a master carpenter and home builder. You are a professional gutter hanger. You gave it away when you said "we" would do it this way. This whole segment is designed to teach a homeowner to DIY.
Someone would steal it from your house in the UK and if you tried to stop them they would prob stab you and the police would never turn up
Mexicans rarely leave a overhang which is a common problem that i see. All you need is a tape measure and chalk box or use the first joint on your finger as a guide.
Do you crimp it or jut caulk it?
These end caps get riveted on and caulked!
what gutter attachment would you prefer, if not the ones shown?
Permalac will keep them shiny for 5-10 years 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank You so much I made sure it was as close as it could be. Barely could get a hair between it and it still leaked in one spot. It was driving me crazy
What about the chemical reaction and corrosion that happens when the pressure treated wood comes into contact with the gutter?
Good job gutter guy. I think you want to be famous by criticizing other people’s jobs. What else do you know !?
I need this man
You said it's okay to put the gutter on top of the metal drip edge? In another you said you put the gutter under the drip edge. Is one option for metal roofing and the other for shingles? Thank you
And it's only okay to put your gutter on the drip edge on steep metal roofs. If you have a low pitched metal roof or any type of shingle, we highly recommend putting it under the drip edge
@@StartARainGutterBusiness Thank you! Okay will do! My first gutter install will be next week!
Your gutter should be under the drip edge
What do you mean when you say you "butted" the left end of the gutter?
Stop buying from Amazon. Shop local.
If you move a downspout, how do you patch the old hole??? Is there a repair kit?
what do you mean by tack?
Thank you
5:00 the drip edge extension can actually curve backwards towards the house as water will follow any surface that's heading downhill because of surface tension. That also allows you access to the gutter to clear out leaf debris.
I love copper gutters. Wish they weren’t so expensive though. Copper prices are insane now.
Strip mitres are for people who have no idea how to do eavestrough.
Did you really install the eavestrough (gutter) over top of the drip edge?
Good video , thanks
Super unique!
Hahaha....roger dodger 😂
Excellent, I need the T Wedge or T strap. Thank you so much!
Holy Smokes, that's a piece of art!!!
Just like the first comment said... Hell no I would never waste my money on this! After four months, it looks like chyt!!! 😂😢😂
To each their own :)
my most used ladder is a 24' aluminum that I split in half stripped it down put levelers on the bottom so its roughly 11' works great on single story light weight
