I'm Ashley and I'm a second year medical student in Australia
Back in high school when seeking motivation to study, KZread was my go to place for advice and inspiration. I was also the girl watching hours of "how to get a ... score in the IB" videos to try to figure out how best to study. So this is me, paying it forward and hopefully providing some help to all the other current IB students out there!

I really should start doing notes before class, with the new curriculum and the way our school is run, we're about 10-15 contact hours short of what we should have 😅 Side note, your videos are so incredibly insightful! I'm still in DP1, I'll come back once my final exams are through to update this comment haha

Hi! I have about 4 months to my exams, what do you recommend to do? videos? flashcards? past paper questions?
This is so helpfull thanks went from being stuck in 5s to getting a high 6 in mocks and ill see how I do in the final in a couple days.
Did you take notes digitally or did you use notebook? Because adding stuff on notebook is a problem with space and editing stuff messes my notes. If you digitally take notes, then you you use Google doc or your iPad app?
For maths, I predominantly took paper notes because my maths teacher would give us paper handouts at the beginning of each class to fill in with the content of that lesson. Then for my final exams I made typed summaries (just in word) of those paper notes (which are in the google drive that's in the description of each of my videos) - hope that helps!

Hey, I’m not sure cause perhaps I missed, but where can I find a complete, detailed IB biology syllabus - same one as you showed us in the vid?
Hi! My biology teacher printed it out for us in that specific format. I think it must be provided by the IB to teachers. I also found it online as a random pdf at the time but an equivalent doesn't come up easily for the new syllabus on google now. But you can get the same detailed syllabus outcomes on Bioninja. The website with the new syllabus outcomes is here: old-ib.bioninja.com.au and the old website which has biology content organised under the old syllabus outcomes (many of which are identical to the new syllabus) is here: ib.bioninja.com.au - hope that helps!
What a great video this is. I wish I could have watched it before starting IB. I'm now in Year 2 and have adopted difficult and inefficient methods and I've forgot almost everything. Do you know how I can restore the information strong and by understanding it. How can I apply these methods for the past chapters whereas tome's limited.
Hi Ashley, I'm helping someone with Literature HL, and I wanted to double check the requirements for Paper 1 at this level. Is it correct that one should do 2 literary analyses for Paper 1 (prose and poetry) without guiding questions? Thank you!

had my paper 1 today (it was awful) gonna have my paper 2 tomorrow (I don't even have the quotes properly memorized yet...)
You don't need to memorize the quotes completely. As long as you reference certain parts of the novel you should be fine.
@@TheOGCabbage damn... i ended up memorizing quotes from each major events but I didn't have enough time to discuss all of them so I left a few out... but I ended up finishing one complete essay at least but Im not looking forward to receiving my mark lol

Thanks for this video! I have my paper 2 on Thursday (and paper 1 tomorrow) ... 😢 and I have a question: With my last timed practice I took too long figuring out my points when I was planning, and that caused me to run out of time in the beginning of writing the conclusion. What would you recommend as the steps to take in the plan, so that I don't start writing the essay too late but do have a strong idea of what I want to write?
You had your paper 1 today, right? For the planning section, I try not to spend more than 5 minutes on planning.
@@andrewhhan Yes, I had it yesterday. When you say planning, do you also include annotating the passage? I also took about 5 minutes planning my essay, but I spent about ten minutes annotating the text.
