Hi would i be able to use the Tropical Punch line here in the united kingdom .If not can you recommend a good floating line for distance casting im using the Hardy Zephrus SWS 9#,
Are you using it for UK saltwater fishing ?
@@TheSavagederek No Derek i would be using it for fresh water trout fisheries the only line that i can see to be recommended for the Hardy Zephrus SWS 9#, is the tropical punch i got this line the other day to try it www.farlows.co.uk/rio-intouch-outbound-short-floating-fly-line.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwreT8BRDTARIsAJLI0KI4HVooQNLJDNXQE-qWccDplBGbplxPmsM4_GcEknyl-po6UeKPrYAaAtEYEALw_wcB any recomendation on other lines would be great doesn't need to be salt water ones thanks Derek
@@billy-xs3yg check out Barrio Lines mate . They are fantastic and cheap as well . Lot of guys using them and rave about them .
@@TheSavagederek Derek ill go check them out now buddy cheers
How long is the leader from the swivel to the hook?
Hi Albert, You can vary the length of the leader. A good starting point is 18-24 inches. I hope this helps? Regards Angling Active
I can't get mine to float. The slowly sink to the gtound
Hi, Have you tried using a finer gauge hook and lighter breaking strain of line? If the hook is made of a heavy guage and your using heavy breaking strain line, this can affect the buoyancy of the bait. Hope this helps? Regards Angling Active
Is this tied wrong ? Seems the hook should be the other way, if it's done like this isnt it going to be backwards during retrieve?
Hi Brett, You can rig them both ways. Rigging them this way allows the most buoyant part of the bait to sit above the hook. Which is advantageous with this particular set up as it is designed for ledgering for Rainbow trout. If you hook them through the egg, you can use them for various other lure techniques such as dropshot. Regards Angling Active
Tuning in💪😎👍
Do these work in the UK?
Hi Rob, Yes, they are highly effective on Perch and Rainbow trout :)
Who cares limy
Rob Beeston Not sure why location would matter much, but here in Southern California these work well on stocked rainbow trout
Awesome video. Great coverage. Well done !
Looks like a great day. James Stokoe is an excellent ambassador for angling.
Well done guys brilliant as always
Who makes your deer stalker hat?
I specialise in guided fishing trips for families. Over 600 happy customers and counting!
Thanks for the info! I've done well on Scotland's north coast for bass, getting them among sea trout in river mouths.
Great vid thanks for that! I was a little surprised not to here any mention of wee dry flies, other than the ghostbuster or other foam thing. I've had them on wee size 18 CDC numbers in the past. Mullet here we come!
Hi where would you get the bait holders
Hi these are the ones here: www.anglingactive.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=bait+holder
Hi what you think above helix 7 DI , nice video , regards from Ireland
Must be one of the most informative videos I've seen, Thank you for making it and posting
Many thanks for the positive comment, glad it helped.
Great video, Colin. Very informative. We have grey mullet here in Savannah, Georgia, and I just may have to give this a try. Are there any patters available for your flies? Mike

Looks like a great simple tie. Thanks
Loved it, especially with the piper!
I am an avid fly fisherman, but I could listen to that girl sing all day.
Fair play this guy for doing an interview, with all the noise and distractions!
Excellent stuff Scott. Cheers Buddy.
Good video! Tight lines to all 😃
Hopefully the start of a great fishing year! Tight lines for the season.
And to you!
would this work with mullet in Florida?
Are the mullet flies available to buy anywhere in the U.K. ?
Could you please recommend an alternative to the pink grizzle hackles as I can't find them on your site.Thanks.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. We would recommend a good hank of this: www.anglingactive.co.uk/hareline-grizzly-barred-flashabou.html
Beautiful Fly, and fantastically tied. 👍
can you use your trout gear or do you need "salt fly gear" if such a thing? would the salt damage the fly line? cheers great video too!
You can use your trout gear for sure. Be very thorough in the cleaning of your equipment after use in salt though especially between long storage periods.
Fly lines just need a warm bath of water to rejuvenate them. Do this twice to make sure you remove all the salt.
Perfect will have a go in my local harbour lots of mullet and small bass. but might weight till weather warms up.
i gonna buy one nice reel!!!
Wonderful have so of these flies to copy really hope next season I can connect !!
Which model of glove is this? There seems to be many kinds to choose from?
Thank you. Been waiting for something along these lines. Great video and so informative
Great video Colin very informative
Great info thanks Colin
Great video Colin very comprehensive thank's for posting.ATB Steve.
Excellent Chris!
it's a great handling reel but it is also pretty darn heavy. I would only recommend on a 7 or 8 weight rod as using a lighter rod it throws the balance of the rod
BarryBigPlums hi i just got mine and your right i got a 7,8,9 reel for a 7 weight fly rod and it throws the balance abit the problem i have is when your casting your line the reel keeps winding up the line your looking to cast can this be fixed? Thanks Jay.
would u recommend to buy this to bring and record at music festivals at night?
Nice Rod
Great reel !!
Superb ! Here's to the next 50 .... tight lines, happy days and good friends. Many thanks for a superb facility.
Hello Jim, MBE now, what next ? Was that Jeannie next to you during your talk. Anyway, good for you, too long in coming. Keep taking the tablets and maybe hear from you soon.Bill H.
You will never find a better conservationist than a farmer, fisherman, forester, hunter, whaler nor sealer. In Norway the salmon fish is very important, as it is everywhere. The Salmon is not just a great meal of protein, fats and energy but it's a sign of the river system's health but more over, it's the sign of whether a farm or village might survive the winter.
