    Hadn’t thought to use a house vacuum attachment, duh! Thanks! If you don’t have a waste setting on your filter and/or a pool hose for this setup, the super budget version is to use a garden hose, fill it with water and get all the air out of the hose, and then toss the other end of the hose down the hill from the pool to create a siphon. It’s a bit fussier than this, but it works in a pinch!

    Do you leave your pool up year round? I want to add a Hayward skimmer but we’re moving soon and I’m worried the skimmer will damage the pool while stored. I thought about taking the skimmer off but I’m not sure we could get it put back on in the right spot and that the cut out part might rip while stored.

    I am new to a sand filter and mine doesn’t have a “waste” option, but it does have backwash. Would that be the same thing?

  • @LifeLessOrdinary
    @LifeLessOrdinary12 күн бұрын

    No unfortunately it’s not, Backwash only cleans out your sand. If you need to get some junk out of the pool and you don’t want it to go through the filter, you’ll have to get a hose and create a siphon which will go up and over and out of the pool.

  • @ljones42089
    @ljones4208912 күн бұрын

    @@LifeLessOrdinary I watched another video where someone hooked their hose up to one of the intakes and then vacuumed on the “filtration” setting and then they backwash and rinse. I want to try it but I’m a little scared lol

  • @LifeLessOrdinary
    @LifeLessOrdinary12 күн бұрын

    @ljones42089 the only problem with using the filter option is if you have a lot of fine sand and dust the filter normally will push it right back into the pool. But if you don’t have that much that you’re trying to vacuum, I’m sure the filter will work just fine.

  • @ljones42089

    @@LifeLessOrdinary I’m more wanting it for that stubborn algae you can’t fully get off the bottom of the pool. I bought an expensive pool blaster vacuum and last time I had some algae it just sprays back up and makes my water murky.

  • @LifeLessOrdinary
    @LifeLessOrdinary12 күн бұрын

    @ljones42089 yes and that’s the same thing that will happen with the filter. You really need to get it out of the pool and bypass the filter.

    2 questions here. 1: What do you do with the water that is caught on top of the cover after heavy rains? I live in Washington State and we get “rain”. 😂 Doesn’t your pool just fill up again, having nowhere for the rain water on top of the cover to go? 2: What’s the purpose of the pillow? Doesn’t the rain water just gather around the pillow and still collect on top? We normally just have a cover 1 size smaller than the pool and it lays on top of the water and still allows excess water to drain out the return nozzle. I’ve noticed the water tension keeps the winds from blowing the cover off as well. Just curious. ❤️🤙🏾

  • @LifeLessOrdinary
    @LifeLessOrdinary12 күн бұрын

    If I get a large amount of water on the top, then I put a garden hose in, and I siphon it out onto the ground. The main purpose of a pillow is to keep the top off of the water, but that’s very hard to do. You would have to pull it down really tight. Mine normally just covers the pillow and then lays on top of the water. I like debris or leaves that fall into it. They are much easier to reach and clean out.
