23:30 interesting 🤔
Excited to see this
Nick is an articulate and inquisitive person, there’s also an arrogance about him which isn’t surprising.
RIP Ed Wuncler
The Banff World MEDIA Festival really skimped on the cam ops, TD, and audio, huh?
8:24 "Education is supposed to be RIGOROUS" and RIGOR HAS BEEN LARGELY REMOVED FROM THE HIGHER EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN AMERICA!" TRUTH! 9:32 "I was always under the impression that like life, education should meet you with ideas and words that make you uncomfortable and force you to confront you reasoning and critical thinking and extend your perception of other peoples humanity." *Likewise, In the K-12 System. No academic rigor, minimal discipline, No Sage on the Stage/ONLY a Guide on the Side
Makes me feel better about my job knowing that something as big profile as this has shit presentation
Dan: "What does your bad stuff look like?" Season 2 of "True Detective." It's a hot mess. That said, it's still better than 99% of the crap on network TV and some streaming services shows. It's probably not fair that it gets compared to Season 1 (a masterpiece).
he’s so gay i love it
Hearing this through one ear only is so bad.
Nick: Well Milch came from an academic background. Harmon: And it shows Goddamn right!! Milch is one of the best, most ingenious, writers ever to be in media. Watch Deadwood and tell me im a cocksucker.
I'm lukewarm on Dan Harmon stuff, but wow. At 41:00, Nick has just done this amazing, expansive explanation and Right over Dan's head, "teak ok, new question" completely ignores it and asks the question he had from three minutes before. What a f*to freak thing to do.
other than an obvious fact that Nic is an incredibly talented writer we should appreciate his efforts and struggle he said about. We would never know season 1 if Nic just wrote a masterpiece and did not fight for what should go into scenes and how it should look like.
Doesn't get more douchey than this..
My love❤❤❤KK

I remember one of the first episodes. It was all about her character. It was amazing.
Two ppl from Brampton became world famous. And they've dated each other. No questions abt that? Most questions are too industry specific.
It's definitely a different time now
Pizza boy really missed the mark on the hatred for child abusers in prison. There is no honor among thieves. Every convict in prison was abused as a child. They are out for revenge.
It's extremely rare for a TV writer to even get mentioned by the media, let alone getting sole credit for the success of a series.
Why is he dressed like a the bathroom attendant at a leather bar?
Host wasn't given any slacks to Russell:) She was there to do a job only
wtf with the audio
Nic seems almost too smart for his own good. That said, incredible writer and showrunner. After rewatching S1 it really is a masterpiece, you can tell there was incredible communication at all levels of production to pull it off.
Has he done anything notable since? Apparently a good deal of s1 was plagiarized.
@@dxcSOUL fr? what’s the source on that?
"PromoSM"
The woman asking the question is so natural
1:35:19 golden hour ❤❤

Russell is the best comedian out there simply the best better than all the rest
Wow haven’t seen Evan tussman since high school. Long ago
I can't believe she is asking that question to an Indian and she is Asian. We, Arabs, never leave our parents home unless they get married or move away for work. Otherwise, we can be there forever and our parents don't even want us to leave, especially if we are not married. If we move out, it's like we are betraying them. It's a cultural thing and has nothing to do with being broke or being lazy, or not acting like a grown up.
can’t believe everyone’s praising this guy. He made 2 great characters but they’d be nothing special without the performances. The true reason the show was a borderline masterpiece was the direction of Cary Fukanaga. (case in point, the best scene by far, Rust undercover, was Fukanaga’s idea and Nick fought him on it) The proof is in the pudding, Cary left because Nick is a narcissist, leaving just Nick (No Cary, Matthew or Woody) and the show tanked.
The show didn't tank though. Season 3 was great. And for season 2 they just didn't have enough time for development and production, even the executive in charge of the show said so.
@@DanMiller. it lost the majority of its fan base after 2
I don't think s3 was great. A good actor mumbling his lines and a disappointing, sell out story don't make for greatness.
Yes, the acting and direction were top notch in S 1. The best dialogue was stolen verbatim. That thief even stole lines from me.
@@fgoindarkg really? I already hated him but I didn’t know of his plagiarism!
Great interview... I wonder in that month of learning to write scripts how Nic taught himself... would love to know.
I love her so much, great speech, Kristin 👏🏼❤
Like the way she keeps shaking her head😚
Nic == Rust Cohle The way he looks at the world is as sharp as the ice cold steel of the tip of a spear. TD Season 1 is perfect in every fucking way. #respect
Amazing talent! this is what a masterpiece entertainment, stories should be in Hollywood, unfortunately, they are in the Business of WOKE Crap and no more ENTERTAINMENT, True detective is as much, of a masterpiece, as an Oil painting hanging At the MET in NYC ! that will go on Testing time! without disappointing
Why people always get such not funny person to interview funny person.
Love Russel’s jokes and his spontaneity. Would he ever do a show where he would not use any swear words. I feel embarrass for a parent who brings his 15 yr old to his show, where it’s laced with profundity.
Who is Milk?
I'm not gonna lie. I just finished the series...and it haunts me.
I remember walking a good mile or so to a bar named Joey's, in Cornwall Ontario, and there I took in the Tuesday night show where the Yuk Yuk's comics would perform before doing it for real in Ottawa -- circa 1996. The entertainment charge was very modest, perhaps $5. I remember that one night Russell Peters was on the the bill along with three or four guys. It is kind of fun to think that Russell turned out to be the biggest star that night.
Is it a frying voice contest?
@16:40 why is she being a control freak?
my left ear enjoys the audio
Louis, Roseanne, Cosby... boy that bit did not age well! lol
I'm happy the show exists. It's probably my favorite show of all time. But this dude ripped off other people's work to make it.
I doubt there was very much that was original in it.
Is he the real life rust cohle?
