    Hard to say. I’d run a diagnostic check to see if it’s throwing any codes. (It probably won’t, but ya never know). Someone else had commented and their situation sounded a lot like yours. He ended up having to replace the ECM to fix the issue. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck.

    I replaced my starter on my 2004 jeep liberty 2wd. And all that happens is the starter spins….. what could it be

  • @HotRodsHowTos
    @HotRodsHowTosАй бұрын

    So the starter is spinning, but the engine isn’t??? You’ll think I’m crazy, but it sounds like your new starter is bad. When you turn the ignition key to the “start” position, the gear inside the starter housing spins and moves forward and engages with the teeth of the flex plate and cranks the engine. When you let off of the key (from the “start” position to “run” position) the gear retracts and goes back inside the start housing. So, it sounds like the gear is spinning but it’s not moving forward to engage with the flexplate. Try tapping it with a hammer. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to take it back to the parts store. 😕

    I hope this helps me. I have a unique situation in that when I apply the brakes the high beams come on. Conversely, when I turn the high beams on the brake lights come on. The ONLY commonality I can find where those two might interact is that switch. Hope this works.

  • @HotRodsHowTos
    @HotRodsHowTosАй бұрын

    Every time you hit the brakes, someone gets blinded. 😂 I’m sorry. I know it’s frustrating, but the situation is sorta funny… I had something similar happen to me. Years ago I bought an old Wrangler and every time I hit the brakes, the front park lights would come on. And when I turned on the park lights, the brake lights would come on. Digging around in the wiring harness, I found where someone had installed a jumper wire from the park lights to the brake lights because they weren’t getting power. It ended up being a bent pin in a connector, but hopefully your issue is a bad switch. Good luck.

    @@HotRodsHowTos I've had the truck about 4 months and just noticed it about a month ago. I didn't drive much at night so I never noticed if it doing that when I first got it. It has multiple electrical issues I've found since owning it. But the brake light/headlight thing is the worst one. It does it with all switches removed. There had been a trailer brake controller at some time, but the only wires were snipped off close to their connectors. No apparent chance of shorting there. I now suspect something in the wiring behind dashboard.

    Two things, first i think you twists are too tight, you want 8 to 10 twists per inch. Second mistake, the tail, you want to reverse the twists so it doesn't come up over the head of the bolt. The twist from the first to the second bolt are clockwise, from the second bolt onward is counter clockwise. This is the twist, NOT the wrap direction.

  • @HotRodsHowTos
    @HotRodsHowTos3 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the tips. I’m probably in the 8-10 twist per inch range. I’ve done experiments to see how far I can go before the wire begins to feel weak and break. So I’ve been going off of “feel” through the pliers, and what looks cool. (I know, looks shouldn’t come before safety 🤦🏻‍♂️). But, the next time, I’ll definitely count the twist. And yes, I should twist the tail counterclockwise. Seems obvious now that I read it. I just have a cheap set of pliers that only spin clockwise. I have a tendency to get “locked in” to certain ways of doing things. (The pliers spin clockwise, therefore the wire has to ALWAYS go clockwise ). (My factory defect 😂). If I was taught to twist the tail ccw, I didn’t retain it.

    I got a deluxe ultimate tip for the 4.9 fuel pump. One that will even allow you to use cheapo ones. I previously had an issue where you could only use motorcraft fuel pumps but not anymore. The fuel pressure is so high in these that it will blow the cap off the off brand FP modules causing the fuel pump motor to get dislodged internally. So you take wire or hose camping to reinforce the cap from ever blowing off. And you'll never go through multiple fuel pumps in a row wondering what the hell is wrong.

    The easy way of removing valve stems is with a box opener. Cut the bottom off, and replace it with a new one. A clear coat makes all the difference in the end. 5 feet away those wheels look fantastic. Maybe try the Eastwood 2K Aero-Spray clear coat, pretty much the closest to a paint shop you can get.

    If you haven already, look at lupegalven’s comment and read through the replies. His issue ended up being the ecm. I’m beginning to wonder if the egr restrictor plate is just a bandaid for a bigger issue. You’re not the first person I’ve heard of with an egr delete, and still having this issue. My truck has recently developed a stumble at idle. Diagnostics say it’s “spark output wire open”. Research suggests it’s 1 of 3 things. 1) short in the spark output wire 2) bad PIP sensor in the distributor 3) faulty ECM. 🤷🏻‍♂️ who knows 😂 Thanks for commenting and good luck!

    Was one hose hot and the other cold on my wife’s jeep both hoses are hot to the touch. So I’m thinking it doesn’t need a flush but I guess it can’t hurt. I already checked both blend acuaters those are good. No coolant leaking at all. So I’m almost positive I shouldn’t have to replace the heater core. Any ideas?

  • @HotRodsHowTos

    Yes, both hoses were hot before I flushed it. Coolant is getting through the heater core, that’s why both hoses are hot. But the heater core is partially blocked and not allowing it to heat up completely. (At least that’s what mine was doing).

    Lol my honda accord randomly bucks like a horse or should i say once i hit the gas to take off,its like struggling to get up😢. My car is fast so im like wtf is going on😫😒😬,my mechanic says it could be i need to check the transmission fluid,but i also read it could be a clogged catalytic converter 😮

  • @HotRodsHowTos
    @HotRodsHowTos7 ай бұрын

    In my experience, when a catalytic converter gets clogged it smells like rotten eggs when it’s running. You should notice some sort of funky smell if it’s the cat. If the engine rpm’s come up, but the car isn’t accelerating like it should, it’s probably a transmission issue. Low fluid will cause that. When you check the fluid level, look at the color. It should be red. If it’s brown, you’ve got issues. I don’t know the fluid level check procedure on a Honda, so you’ll have to do a little research. On a domestic car you: 1) get the car up to operating temperature 2)) put the transmission in “drive” for a few seconds 3) put the transmission back in “park” and check the fluid level. FYI, running a transmission low of fluid can damage it. Hopefully everything is ok.
