  My favorite John Wooden line, after Bill went 21-22 from the field in the '73 NCAA Championship Game, "Bill, I used to think you were pretty good. Then you missed that shot". Such a shame that injuries, that began in college, limited him to brief flashes of his talents.

  RIP big guy. I just cannot believe it. I watched you play for the Trailblazers at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, especially during the 1977 Championship year. Seems like yesterday. I ran into you once at a gym while working out back in the 70's. The memories. You'll be missed!!
