Does anyone else get worse performance the longer you play the game? It works pretty well for me for the first 20min, then I have to turn on upscaling to Quality, then eventually Balanced. And then restart my whole computer. Then repeat.

Nvidia may not rely solely on gamers' money these days. However, they could consider publishing cutting-edge PC-exclusive single-player games like Crysis and GTA to boost their graphics card sales. I'm fairly certain that a 3070 Ti or 4070 paired with a mid-range processor could outperform the PS5 or Series X with relative ease. They would have the capability to scale the game from a 4060 to a 4090, unlike current multi-platform games that mainly offer ray tracing, higher resolution, and increased FPS, without much difference in console and PC ports.

I was blown away when I first saw this game in 2007. I had just bought the PS3 at the time, but playing Crysis was like experiencing the next generation. I had to wait until 2016 before I was as impressed with the jungle rendering in other games (Uncharted 4). I played Crysis in moded DX9 very high settings (with DX10 effects) on my Core 2 Quad 6600 + 8800Ultra at 1680x1050p at only 30fps, but at the time I thought the game was perfectly playable. At 720p I had around 45fps and compared to PS3 games (Splinter Cell 4 20-30fps) I was really happy with the performance. My 8800U already died a long time ago, but I wonder how the game would run on this card with a much faster CPU and maxed out settings, because my Q6600 was certainly bottlenecking my 8800U. I saw a video with i7+8800U and the game ran at 50fps in 1080p with medium settings, so I think on similar CPU my old 8800U could probably run crysis 1 at 60fps at 720p with some medium / high settings.

why use 8x MSAA in 4K? This creates an unjustified, inadequate load on the video memory, while the 4090 chip itself is most likely loaded by a maximum of 20%.

  • @Bang4BuckPCGamer

Because the game is so single threaded, if you don't make it as GPU bound as possible, you just get a CPU bottleneck. You really don't gain anything from using less anti aliasing in this game.

@@Bang4BuckPCGamer This brings us back to the fact that the game still runs poorly not because of the videocard, but because the CPU progress over the years has not been as fast as we would like. @@user-cn1qw5mm3j but because the CPU progress over the years has not been as fast as we would like. In reality, the issue lies in the game's inability to effectively utilize modern hardware. If someone had the time and resources, they could rewrite the game to be compatible with current-generation hardware. Although AMD and Intel could manufacture top-tier single-core, single-thread processors, there would likely be no market for them.

The 4090 is such a beast of a GPU, I can't imagine how good the 5090 is going to be. Such a nice fidelity and performance, even with DLAA at 4K. I have a question for you: do you think there will be a DLSS 4 coming, and if yes, what do you think DLSS 4 will be? There's a rumor going around on Videocardz and Reddit from a couple of months ago that it's going to be something related to AI texture/shading. If it's true, DLSS 4 is probably going to be a great tech improvement for VRAM and texture-related stuff.

I am looking forward to the RTX 5090 or any Titan class GPU. It sounds interesting, but I already know how it will be received. People will just say we first had fake frames, now we have fake textures. NVIDIA is going all in with AI, so I know DLSS will get some strong enhancements.

Yeah, I've noticed some people despise DLSS or any other upscaler, calling it "fake frames" and such, but I'm all for better graphics and performance, "fake" or not. The thing is, DLSS now is not the same as it was 4 years ago, it's so much better. In 4K Quality mode, the quality is indistinguishable, and even in 4K Performance mode, there's only a minor difference in most games if you use preset E. Exciting times ahead for future DLSS tech from NVIDIA. Let them cook!

Well, nothing happens, the RTX 5090 in theory is going to be 48% more powerful, I think that with that it will never drop below 60 FPS in 4k with Epic Settings. It is logical, if you go here very fair, you should no longer go fair in the next generation. What do you think? As a last resort, you lower the resolution to 1440p and that way you play well and that's it, you compensate for the poor optimization of the game by having the best hardware.

Despite the fact that this game does not use more than 11GB of VRAM at 4K/Max, it still runs out of VRAM on my 4070 Ti somehow. Looks like it is not able to allocate all 12GB of available memory (only 11,3GB), thus it switches a small portion of data (~500MB) to RAM. DLSS does not help here at the slightest. No matter what preset I tried to use, it still runs out of VRAM during a short run through Fleets End settlement. I imagine how bad of an experience 4060 provides in this game, since it has just 8GB buffer and can only run this game w/o any issues at 1080p with textures set to "Medium".

It’s basically a 70% increase in power, so will equate to 20-25% performance increase. Really not worth the wait. Would need 2x performance or 100% performance increase for minimum 60fps on quality modes keeping resolution the same as well as details. All smokes and mirrors marketing jargon. Neither wonder consumers end up disappointed. THE GPU IN THIS VIDEO IS THE MOST POWERFUL BY FAR AT 83t/fs and overclocked can be +100t/flops. So basically 8.3x the power of a console with near 4x performance increases. Simply it’s a £4K pc. So it’s quite obvious surely. At the end of the day a console is built to mass sell, cheap hardware and low grade now at mid gen.
