First Molko interview I've watched. I'm a little disappointed. As a frontman he has such presence and intrigue. Here he seems a little underwhelming and going through the motions expected of him. More reactive than inspirational. Maybe he's just shy and overawed by the occasion?

Graham's right, they do properly go for it even during sound checks. My partner at the time and I got to watch them sound check at a party at Michael Eavis's place years ago and it was almost as intense as the gig later on. The actress he shagged was Asia Argento, if anyone 's interested.

I love Molko as well, but I somehow doubt he was ever genuinely 'bisexual'--always seemed like Brett Anderson of Suede before him, he just toyed with that realm a bit to help complete the tapestry of his band's imagery, as well as (naturally) to get a rise out of more conservative members of the listening audience...he was only ever linked to women from the early days. Not that there's anything wrong with that, per se, unless you happen to take issue with what some people refer to as 'sexual tourism'...I personally could give a toss either way. But his laid back attitude about seemingly everything is certainly praise worthy

@@mywhychromosome Great comment. We kind of knew that from the beginning, a bit like Anne Heche with Ellen (I'm a les and was a teenager in the nineties). but it didn't really matter - we weren't so label-orientated back then.
@mywhychromosome2 жыл бұрын
@@katrinabee9846 Hey, thanks...yeah, I'm of a similar age, a little bit younger, as I was more or less in just the beginning stages of my teens as the 90s came to a close. With Heche, I feel like it was more a genuine confusion/exploration of what she wanted and who she was attracted to, and she ultimately landed on the side of more hetero, whereas people like Anderson and Molko where consciously, knowingly toying with the concept, like Bowie before them. On the one hand, I totally agree with the idea that people were less label-obsessed back then, at least verbally and in writing, although part of that I think is that certain terms hadn't entered the public consciousness yet. One thing I think is better now, though, is there's more room for people to fall 'in between', whereas back then you were either gay, straight, or bi, and if you're the last one, you'd better be bouncing back and forth alot, or you'll lose your 'card', lol. It is a shame now that people rush to categorize themselves--in some cases even diagnose themselves with things--rather than just feeling it out naturally as we once did. But I will say, for example, when I finally understood the term 'queer', I kind of went "Ah, that's it!"...because I've always dated women, been sexually attracted to women, but yet I can find male beauty entrancing and appealing, enjoy dressing up, wearing makeup etc, even fall 'in love' with men in a kind of non-physical way, and I never knew exactly where all that 'fit'. It doesn't NEED to fit anywhere, but being able to give it a name, after arriving at it naturally, did have some benefit...at least to me. You dig?

Honestly, It's been a bit since I've caught the Graham Norton show (not THAT long--I mean like a year; I live in the US so you've got to track it down a bit more), but unless it's changed RADICALLY in the past year...his show is just as entertaining, cheeky and loose as it was here, which is one of the things that made it stand out to me, again especially as an American. I've seen guests that I've recently seen on other shows promoting the same work, and you can sense a palpable level of relief and comfort when they're on this show after doing the others.
