I think I understood what the author was saying, but I also understood the concept of your video. Sometimes I think authors need to stay out of the comment sections. You recommended her work to over 2600 subscribers.

I read Tumbling in my teens in the early 2000’s and she became an autobuy author for me. They got all types of mess going on in that one. I have read that book over 15 times and it’s always the book I recommend to people. Please read the rest of her catalog, she is amazing! Blues Dancing, Leaving Cecil Street , and Trading Dreams at Midnight are also at the top of my favorite list.

I see that you have a few new editions of old publications. Do you know if the contents are the same. With all the talk about banning books, I wondered if changes/omissions were made.

The Longman Group, publisher, published a series of African Classics. I have a few but here is one I could put my hand on. "Muriel at Metropolitan" by Miriam Tlali. here are a few more. "Taduno's Song" by Odafe Atogun "To My Children's Children" by Sindiwe Magona "Season of Crimson Blossoms" by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim "Ancestor Stones" by Aminatta Forna "Blond Roots" by Bernardine Evaristo (Nigerian Father, English mother) Also, "The Heinemann Book of African Women's Writing" features 21 author's short stories., and "Unwinding Threads" an anthology of writings by African Women.

I did enjoy the audiobook better when I listened to it on audible just because the author narrates the story so well it felt like I was watching a play. By the way your hair looks amazing!

Hi! I hope all is well, and I have to saay it is so distasteful of those who has the right to ban true history. Where are those people who are in the "high society," category? Such as Mr. Perry and Mrs. Opera Winfrey and that's just a drop in the bucket of others who can take a stand against this useless banning. Sis, you came with the "tea" today! LOL!!💯💢🤓

Wow, so many banned books. I also want t read The Hate You Give. And I am also dumbfounded that books are banned due to the negativity of slavery. Duh, it's history. I didn't see people objecting when it was going on. And these same people talking about banning books about race and the same ones that say "I have a black friend"

Ernest J. Gaines is one of my favorite writers. He was a great storyteller. Zora Neale Hurston and Margaret Walker are other writers about the South. One of the best contemporary writers from Mississippi is Jesmyn Ward. Her essay on the death of her partner in the September 2020 issue of Vanity Fair was beautiful. The title is Witness and Respair.
