    I got the Temai sunshades for a Tesla Model 3. They fit the roof well, BUT they did not block much sun / heat. Even with the black plastic / vinyl sheets it became unbearably hot, so we improved them in this way: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWuKyciuc8q_f84.html Makes a huge difference!

    What are the specific dimensions of this? I've been searching everywhere on the internet, but can't seem to find them posted anywhere. I have a panoramic sunroof in my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport which is 66" x 39” (the front portion that opens: 31 x 39”). I doubt it would be an exact tailored fit, but I'm curious if I could use it as a makeshift shield while camping.

    Yeah, perhaps; but I always considered that area as “bonus space” and so, “why not”? My job is in emergency preparedness, so my brain is probably just geared that way. It’s been a while since I’ve made that video (in fact, I’ve traded in the Model 3 for a Model X) and as I watched it again (and considered your comments), I noted that the only things in there I’ve never used are the blankets (thankfully), the first aid kit (VERY thankfully), and the tire inflation kit (no flats in 81,000 miles of EV driving!). Everything else has been put to use at one time or another. Again, not for everyone, I’m sure, but if you’re not utilizing the space anyway, might as well be prepared.

    Strange that the Roof Rack was 199 wH/miles and the Bare Roof was 210 wH/miles. You should test on a longer distance. If you have a Watt meter on your UMC plug, Charge at 90% and drive like 100 miles. Recharge to 90% and check how much kWh you put back into your car. Do the same thing with the rack alone, and with the box. And publish the results.

  • @evwonder1889

  • @evwonder1889
    @evwonder18895 жыл бұрын

    Hal Brody Yeah; I’ve pretty much had it on since full time since I filmed the video (the FRONT one, that is). The rear one is a bit of a challenge to see through and (as the video shows) has a bit of a sag that can annoy a tall rear seat passenger. And I really don’t want to cheat the back seat passengers out of such a beautiful view. :-) I can tell you that during the middle of the day, when the sun is at its height, you can feel some heat coming through the shade (it’s porous, unlike most shades). But it definitely cuts some of the heat and some of the brightness. As an old pasty dude of Irish heritage, I need to cut as many rays as possible from reaching my lily-white skin. This shade is a welcome relief from when I made a trip out west in my Model 3 last year. 15 months old and the car cracked 49k miles today.

  • @evwonder1889
    @evwonder18895 жыл бұрын

    Pauline: The cargo box holds 16 cubic feet of stuff. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything in the box when I ran the test. I was more interested in the effect of wind drag on it. The box itself weighs 42 lbs. and can hold 165 lbs; although Tesla says the weight limit for the rack itself is 150 lbs.

    Great Video. I think I know what will help with the sag. I have a Taps Plastic store near me and they specialize in acrylic supplies. I've seen 1/4 in acrylic rods that I think when files down on both ends, can securely brace the sagging portion on the rear shade. It would be an arched compression fit. Question? Does the quality of the Tesla shade warrant the price compared to cheaper knockoffs on the market? If so, I would be willing to pay the extra $.

    @@CookieOlster Hey Greg, I contacted Tesla and they told me that the stickers are actually optional, they only protect the painting in case you would like to remove the rack once in a while, but if you plan to do a full compound, wax once per year on the car you can remove the racks and protect the painting as well. But also I sent Tesla a message asking if they could provide me extra stickers and they sent me new ones as well. But as I said, they are optional.

    So far, yes; it's keeps the heat out fairly well. I keep it on all the time and what it really helps with is the direct sun beating down on your head during the midday hours while driving. It hasn't gotten very hot in this area of the country yet so I can't say with any degree of certainty just how much it helps temperature-wise, but so far, so good.

    @@jedaproducts509 You said that you would offer me a full refund if I pay to ship it back to you and you determine that it has never been used. You only granted this after weeks of being told you would not provide this refund. I have been told over and over that this refund is against your policy. Here is my experience: I ordered the product with a fast charger. They took weeks to send ti to me and it came without the fast charging module and no notice that it was missing. I emailed support and they told me that they had discontinued that fast charging module but were making a better one. I could wait for the better one or get a refund for the added price of the fast charging module. I said I would wait. I waited 5 months. I then emailed support, they told me that they were no longer trying to make a better fast charging module and they could refund the extra charge now since I asked. ( I wonder how many never asked and never got this refund) I told support I did not want a refund for just the module, I explained that I wanted a full refund. They said they could not do that. I told them I had never used it they said I waited too long to get a refund. I then told them I would post about my experience every day until they gave me a full refund. After about a week they offered a refund but said they would not refund shipping. I told them no way. Then after many more comments like this they finally agreed after 2 weeks of back and forth to offer a refund of the product and shipping but only if I pay to ship it back and they determine that it has never been used. Mine is not the only experience like this. Many others had problems with the first edition of this product like improper fit, warping and sliding and many others got poor support and were told that there are no refunds after 15 days.

The post it notes didn’t do anything remotely close to the 3M “rubbery” protection. They need to stay under the rubber feet. I hope you still have them and are able to re-install to avoid the damage.
