what pack is that?
Good job, man…way to stay after it. Shot looked perfect! Crazy tough critters!
I was pretty shocked that he went 300 yards from where I shot him. Thanks for watching!
I've always thought of a deer's winter range, as where they migrate to for the winter, to get down out of the cold and the deep snow at higher elevations. And they spend their time in the winter range through those worst winter months, which are after the hunting season. All through hunting season, all deer i've ever hunted, are up in their summering areas, right up til they are forced to move due to weather, which is usually january.
Nice buck congrat 👌
Thanks!
What's the barrel length please?
20” barrel
Show the hunts where perseverance pays off next year, or the year after. It’s more about the journey than last years success
I still have plenty of footage to pull that off. Thanks for watching
This was a great episode. Stuck quad made me laugh. The boys did great and the reward is a fantastic bear. Congratulations.
It was super awesome to film this special family!
Her craftsmanship is absolutely amazing. I love her products.
Top shelf!
Nice rifle. I've pushed pause on handloading for my 7PRCs. I got myself into a lot of projects at once. I did get a one hole group with one of them using 180 Berger VLD over LRT powder but forgot my chronograph that day. I have 2 new 280AIs and I'm getting 2990fps with a 168 Berger VLD with 24" barrels. I will have to compare that data with my 7PRCs shooting factory Hornady and Federal 175 ELD-X. I did clock those and I'm getting in the mid to high 2800s. My Benchmark barrel is 24" and my Brux barrel is 25". My guess is it is a toss up on trajectory and energy. I'm new to both cartridges and everything I've heard about the 280AI is true. More efficient than a 7RemMag and nearly produces exact same velocities. Love all 3 of my 7RemMags too though In 1 of my 280AIs, the one with the 24" Bartlein barrel, I settled on the Barnes 139 LRX due to repeated accuracy, low SD/ES at 3300fps. I've been considering testing the Barnes LRX, either the 145 or 168 in my 7PRCs. But I do have a ton of 175 ELD-X bullets on hand as well.
Awesome component list and taste in caliber :) thanks for leaving a detailed comment!
Awesome film man! Loving the shots & editing 👌
Cheers Rob!
Cool gun! What velocity are you getting with the 175 eldx?
2880 FPS fully verified out to 800 yards cold bore testing.
Thanks that is really close to what I am getting also.
Congrats on the bear he's a beauty. I was surprised it didn't drop quicker, what cartridge and bullet did you use on him?
It was a 300PRC WITH 212gr eldx bullet
@@highbchunting Should have worked better than that. Those ELD-X bullets usually perform well. Must have just been one of those things that sometimes happen. Congrats again.
@@gerry6.8 I was surprised he went that far too.
My black bear from pa was 409 pounds had whole bear done really came out nice congrats on yours
Nice! Thanks!
I have the Boreal 21. It will work much better if you use the full range of motion with less pressure on the blade.
Fair enough this test wasn’t the best as far as controlled but the Silky still seemed to be the better of the two saws. I will try it again with better technique and let you know how it goes.
@@highbchunting The Silky cuts on the pull stroke only, whereas the Boreal 21 (same as any bow saw) cuts on both strokes. The Silky still might be a little faster, but they are both good saws and have their pros and cons depending what you are using them for.
@@HinterlandOutdoors I completely agree that they are both great saws! Perfect to have in your pack on quad trips or to keep in your truck for small to med blow down
Gotta let that silky do the work for ya. You’re putting way too much power into both those saws.
@@scottr564 I was pushing for speed but it kind of works against a guy. Steady full strokes with braced wood would have been a better test! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
When I first saw your shot on film, I thought it couldn't get any better!! Didn't look like you were too far forward and seemed like lower 1/3 entrance. Great job! Great video!
I was surprised that he made it 300 yards but I was super happy to find him! Thanks for watching!
😂😂😂
Hahah
Great video!! This is the first video I have watched of yours and it is fantastic!!
Cheers!!! We could use the support :) share with your friends. Thanks for watching!
That was fun to watch.
Thanks for leaving a comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
😂
😼
Great film buddy! What month was this one, it looks nice out, and roughly what time did you find him at? This gets me all fired up for spring bear!!
It was towards the end of May I think.
Great hunt! But it doesn't look like black tail to me. Those are mule deer for sure.
If you watch closely the two deer fighting one is a blacktail and the other is a mule deer. The deer Jesse shot is a blacktail.
You remembered the turret.
Hahahahah right!!
I love that sound
Me too!
It's unfortunate that trips to the island are bookended by experiences with BC Ferries, but it's worth it!
I hear you! The island will always be a special place to me.
What is the caliber that young un used?
I think it’s a 308
Beauty of a shot!! Congrats to the young man!!!
He did a great job!
More like an old tom cat than a jungle cat!
Hahahaha hope Kev sees this comment!
😂
Good job you guys 👍
Thanks man!
Good bear. Very good hunt on film. You made it look easy ( it is not). I like watching hunting videos, so I really appreciate all the effort.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the complement!
That's a little bear. But good job bro 👍
Thanks bro
I know that exact location and road👍. Great boar and perfect shot, you filled the freezer and saved a few of the fawns in our area. Great video and keep them coming!
Thank you very much! He made the best hams I have ever done so can’t wait for another one this year!If you know that landmark it’s unmistakable where I was. I try to be as discrete as possible but it’s always a challenge balancing the filming needs and not blowing up locations.
Very nicely done sir. Excellent shot, great footage
Thank you for all of your support!
@@highbchunting whatever I can do to help.
Subscribed....love the no bs format
Appreteate that!
Nothing like a Mic drop shot. I had only 1 bear do that. Great video can’t wait for the next episode Bear Down Let’s Go
Thanks for watching and taking the time to drop a comment! Next bear hunt episode will be up on Sunday :)
Great hunt! Congrats. Sorry if I missed it. What rifle, cartridge, ammo/bullet?
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! This was from last spring so it was before I switched to Fierce. This was my Christensen Arms Ridgeline Titanium in 300 PRC shooting 212 Gr Hornady ELDX hand loads IMR 4831 powder.
awesome gear
Top of the line!!!
Elaboration?
It could have been worse with a bad hit
I completely agree!
Id say my turret was maxxed out too😉
There a zero cuts in the edit and that’s exactly how it played out…. Still hurts!
2-10 3-16…?
👀 can’t say
@@highbchunting respect that great buck great area and great content
@@Alpinehunterbc cheers ma! Thanks for watching and dropping the nice comment!!
What cartridge was the rifle?
7 Rem Mag
@@highbchunting ammo? bullet?
@@derekmcmurry4263 162 gr Hornady ELDX
@@highbchunting That's awesome. Factory ammo or handloads? Congrats on your great deer. I killed a few of my deer this past season with Hornady bullets for the first time, 7PRC with 180 ELDM, another 7PRC with 175 ELDX Hornady factory ammo, and a 3rd 7PRC with Federal ELDX ammo. The match bullets performed the same as the ELDX bullets. At least me nor the deer could tell any difference.
@@derekmcmurry4263 it was Factory ammo. Wow you had a good year!!!
What was that awesome bipod he had, just snapped it on how handy
It's a Spartan Hunter Tripod. Just uses magnets to connect.
Hunting for the wrong reasons, walking billboard
I am in this to feed my family, share my passion of hunting through films. It takes money to make these productions so I team up with brands that I believe in to help with that. It’s not for everyone. Thanks for watching.
Personally I see a lot high bc post on here and Facebook the guy has the down right most respect for his animals And pride in his hunts, he targets mature respectful ungulates helping the population and most of all he’s out the damn truck and on his boots leave those comments for High fence farmed deer.
@@Alpinehunterbc appreciate you having my back!
What a great hunt. Is that a region 2 blacktail? it's body is huge!
Can’t say 😶 thanks for watching!!
What a beauty buck! Those fire roasted back straps had me droolin!
There is something special about cooking wild game in the mountains!!
Heck of a rifle shot! Clean straps broiled over the flames- wow!
Next level enjoyment!! Cheers Kev!
Just as nerve wracking being the cameraman making sure you get the shot recorded too I bet eh! Holy that feeling is wild. Nice buck guys!
It’s stressful!!! lol
@@highbchunting well done! Captured it perfectly 👏🏼
@@Thatbcyota cheers to that!!
😮
He speaks of diddy freak offs
I had that ram at 7 with all the footage you showed. Things happen for interesting reasons…..
We spent a half hour and clearly aged him at 8.5. Video footage does not do it justice but we could clearly count through a 60x Swaro spotter. Would not have shot if I had any doubt.
