    I have not winter camped yet. I worry the heat would melt the snow but then create an ice problem on the bottoms, side walls and snow skirts. Especially when you are waiting for the stove to cool down when you want to pack up and leave.

  • @AdventureswithSpackmann
    @AdventureswithSpackmann2 күн бұрын

    That can definitely be an issue but you deal with it when that happens. An axe or hammer or shovel takes care of it pretty easily. Then you dry your gear out just like any other trip with moisture. Thanks for watching

  • @AdventureswithSpackmann

    A hot shower isn’t. But 100 throughout the first year at $5 each maybe. Then you are on year two. Also getting someone out into the woods to camp with you cause now you have a hot shower maybe worth every penny to someone. Not everyone but someone. I know my oldest was much more inclined to come on my last trip cause of the hot shower. Thanks for watching

    How do you fill up the 15 gallon mini barrels out in the wild? Aren’t those too heavy to haul at 120ish pounds when full?

  • @AdventureswithSpackmann
    @AdventureswithSpackmann2 күн бұрын

    There are a few steps. Step 1 get a gym membership. Step 2 throw that away. Step 3 get some friends that are stronger than you(talking about me) Step 4 have them carry the barrel up from the creek Step 5 put barrel into wagon. Step 6 take break. Step 7 drink beer. Step 8 haul said barrel in wagon to camp site. Step 9 let your kids take a shower before you lol. I really should have filmed how I filled it too. There was a creek right next to Jays site with a 2 foot waterfall. Someone had added a steel pipe at the top of the waterfall to capture the water and create a faucet like thing. That allowed for me to put the barrel right under it and fill it up pretty easy. I didn’t fill it completely either. I’d say 3/4 of the way full. Thank you for watching.

    I put a spigot on a 5 gallon bucket and used a piece of old garden hose and the shower head from a leaky Coleman solar camp shower bag. I put about 2.5 gallons of water in the bucket and add a full 12 cup coffee pot of boiling water in and it’s perfect for a summer shower. I boil the water on my Coleman camp stove. I sometimes add the water and put it out in the sun covered with clear plastic and it’s probably at around 110F by sundown. Again that’s during the warm season. I just hang the bucket up on a shepherd’s hook that I zip tied to a tree and let gravity power it. Cost under $20 for the black bucket, spigot, rubber gasket and nut. Already had a broken hose and the camp shower bag, but you can get an adapter to just screw a regular shower head on the spigot if you have an extra one laying around.
