you can take a wooden pencil and lightly hit the inside of the cup. If the sound is clear and clear, then the cup has no cracks. if the sound is dull, then there is a crack somewhere, or even you can’t see it.

I am into vintage antique furniture (items), but I don't see the point of collecting an incomplete set. I'd rather purchase a complete tea set.

Beautiful tea cups! I collect tea pots. I have recently started a tea cup collection. Thanks to your videos I now know what I need to know in order to make excellent choices on the tea cups I choose for my new collection. I think I’ll spend the remainder of my day aching and learning from your videos. Thanks again! Suzanne

For back stamp; The Japanese used "Nippon," which was the English equivalent of the Japanese word for Japan. It was not until 1921 that the US (& ENGLAND) changed the law so that pieces had to be marked "Japan," not "Nippon." These laws make it easy for today's collectors to identify Nippon china. It was made between 1891 and 1921. Also, Noritake's former name was Nippon Toki, so some of the cups just say NIPPON might be from that company. Morimoto is the mother company. (NORITAKE,TOTO, OKURA) MEITO CHINA was off spring of Noritake, they decided to create a company to make bone china for westerns export only, and invited 300 top hand-painting artist from all over Japan and made a huge hand-made factory. in Nagoya, where Noritake is still. That time Germany was in war and not producing enough quality china so MEITO wanted to dominate the western market.

Found a Sharon candy dish with two Queen Mary cups inside at the thrift store today! Got all three for under $6 since the cups were stored inside the dish-they're all pink and they're such a pretty color. Already was able to verify that they were original off some google research, but liked learning more about where they came from! I'm only in my 20s, but I love collecting vintage stuff like Avon-older things just have so much charm than stuff now. (With Avon I love how a lot was muli use once they were used up-my favorites are these bath oil bottles I have that also could be used as salt/pepper shakers)

I’m curious if you know the name of a color of depression glass. It’s not the light pink and it’s not the dark purple it’s an in between color and my girlfriend had an important piece from her grandmother that was broken. I’ve been trying to find a bowl similar, but having a hard time finding that color?

Thank you. I have just started my collecting journey and want ensure they stay in great condition. Thank you especially for the no hot water tip for washing and bleach. I wash all my dishes with hot water and a cap of bleach n dawn. So i will definitely avoid this for my tea cup collection. ❤

It was made in many more colours. And actually started before 1929 And some patterns went well in to the 1940s. It was a give away but mostly sold in five and dimes

I paid dearly for most of my pink Sharon collection back in the 80's and 90's as I was learning about it from an antique dealer I worked for. She paid me in depression glass! I collect pink Sharon because my father was born in a house down the street from Federal Glass Co. in 1929. My grandfather drove his tractor to the truck stop near his farm to fill the tank. He did not keep gas on his farm. Each trip he would bring home a piece of pink Sharon. Grandma had several pieces and gave it away before she auctioned off the farm in 1982 as she thought it was junk glass.
