  • @glidejunkie
    @glidejunkie21 күн бұрын

    Thanks mate, I wrap the lines around the ends of the bar, first 5-6 wraps in one end, and then one wrap in each end, crossing through the center. I will have to make a video about my bar set up... I use this kind of carbon tube which is 20mm x 16mm (2mm thick wall): amzn.to/3z70JcM I really trust this extra thickness and it is much stronger than the usual 1mm thick wall. I wouldn't trust a 1mm thick wall tube. It may look strong enough, but the holes make it weaker. I 3d print my own bar grips with a large volume printer like this: amzn.to/45kVanl . I actually use an older model, but that's the one I would buy now. I use TPU filament like this: amzn.to/3VmhtED.

  • @glidejunkie

    thanks ! glad you enjoy de videos. ´The bar is pretty simple. Just a 20mm diameter carbon bar, 2mm thick wall, no flag release. Just a quick release to get rid of the whole kite if things get pretty ugly. Flag release is a personal choice that each rider must evaluate himself. In my case that I ride small Clouds that are depowered a lot by just letting the bar go, I don't see the need for flag release. But I understand the potencial safety issue in some circumstances.My bars do not have a central hole. They have a rotating ring that is always aligned with the central line, so I can sheet in and out at the same time I turn the kite without the typical friction of the line going through the hole. The grip is 3D printed in polyurethane, with oval shape and finger grips at 45º to fit the most common hand position, and a pocket for the thumb finger in the central part when I go one handed. So minimalistic but super efficient and ergonomically designed. I'll make a video about it

    My Clouds are the D model but have the E bridle upgrade. I haven't tried the newest model that has just been released which has the lighter and stiffer material in some parts of the leading edge. But I have just hear from the Facebook Cloudriders group that the new model turns even faster. And it is a tad lighter too, so I am sure the newest models are great too. I use this swivel mount: amzn.to/4ccU3Z9. I am planning to make an improved DIY version with ceramic bearings, but the original one works well. • @glidejunkie
    @glidejunkie2 ай бұрын

    Gracias Sebastian. Yo cambio los pies antes o después de la virada, pero no durante la virada como hacen en race. Rob Claisse explica bien la maniobra del cambio de pies en: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHx-j62YaLS7nc4.html . También en instagram.com/reel/C1mBpy3I_sQ/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Intentaré hacer uno en español algún día. El cambio de pies requiere una coordinación de movimientos: pisar atrás en el foil para aprovechar el movimiento hacia arriba de la tabla que te da un instante de impulso hacia arriba, la cometa hacia arriba mientras bajas la mano trasera para que suba la cometa a la vez que bajas la barra para crear sustentación de cometa. Tienes que buscar el punto de la tabla donde se encuentra el empuje del foil hacia arriba, normalmente será un poco por detrás del pié delantero. Ese es el punto de la tabla donde por un instante deben estar los dos pisé. Acerca primero el pié trasero hacia delante para que el paso sea más corto. El peso se mantiene en la pierna delantera, el torso se mantiene tenso. Todos esto factores hay que coordinarlos al principio mientras se aprende, luego se convierte en un movimiento natural, sin pensarlo

    I have been trying to cpy the way that you do tacks and 360s. Eeeeesh! It is difficult. Have you ever tried a Flysurfer Hybrid or Peak? They are great in the waves but do not provide any lift. Do you think that I will need to get a Cloud or UFO to do your tricks?

  • @glidejunkie
    @glidejunkie2 ай бұрын

    I had a 5m Peak. I liked the simplicity concept and how efficient it is for its size. The drift is also very good, even slightly better than Clouds. But I didn't like the the flutter feeling in the bar and the turning is not nearly as smooth as with Clouds. I used very short lines with the Peak trying to improve its turning speed, but this implies more crashing the kite in the water during failed kite loops and dealing with relaunching was a hassle (not with the Hybrid). So I sold my Peak very fast because I always chose the Clouds instead of the Peak. I know the hybrid relaunches well, but I assume the turning remains pretty similar to Peaks, and seeing and hearing how Hybrids fly I can see that the fluttering remains the same, unless you always keep some tension on the bar. This being said, this is just my personal preference and I am very used to Clouds over the years, but there are very good riders using Peaks and Hybrids doing all kind of tricks. Some former Cloud users have sold their clouds and now use Peaks. Clouds do not offer much passive lift neither, I don't think they are superior to Peaks in this regards. Unlike race kites that offer tons of lifts pulling the bar and give you plenty of time and lift for tacks, Clouds performance is linked to speed, so maneuvers are quick and a little more tricky. Although I like Clouds I am also open to other brands and designs. In fact I now own an Airush Ultra Team 12m for light wind days that is replacing my 10m and 13m Clouds for sub 10 knots days. Although both are light kites they are totally different concepts: Ultra sits at the edge of the wind window and the more you pull on the bar the more power generates so it's good for fast upwind straight courses. Clouds sit deep in the wind window are much faster to turn but not as good for going upwind in light wind and large Clouds stall easier if you pull too much on the bar. So for light wind, when carving fast is not that much fun, I am enjoying cruising with te Ultra

Thanks, It's a Slingshot Phantasm PFH 657 wing with the short 653mm fuselage, the small 325 stabilizer and the long 102cm mast. Mounted on a homemade 109cm board

    @Danieldaniel-gz8fe hi, No I haven't. I would guess the pam 730 might me a little faster but not as maneuverable

    Hi @peterferencak8995 I use a Slingshot Phantasm 657 which is 743 cm2. This falls in the same category as your foil. Relatively small, fast and carvy, but these foils need to keep some speed during maneuvers not to stall.These are some great tutorials: kzread.info/dash/bejne/an6XuZqTm8e3isY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJ5hudxykcTMh5M.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/oGaTpbOrntSdhto.html (heel to toe tack) My advice for heel side 360s would be: If possible try to learn it with a bigger foil that allows to do it at a slower speed. Start by pulling the back hand and start the carve upwind so the kite is vertical at 12 when the board is pointing to the wind. When learning do not lean backwards like in a twin tip back roll, instead, look under your armpit during rotation so that your weight stays vertically aligned with the mast; otherwise the foil will shoot around you, cutting the surface and you fall on your bum. At the same time look under your armpit, rotate your torso to help continuing the rotation. Keep pulling on the back hand so the kite doesn't stop and does a continuous loop. End the rotation with the end of the kiteloop to keep power during the whole rotation, and exit downwind doing only a 270º turn instead of 360º. This way, if you mess up the kite loop timing, you just keep following the kite downwind instead being pulled off the board by the kite. Once you are going downwind a little bit you can decide whether to keep turning the extra 90º to complete the 360 or bleed out some speed first if you are late with the kite loop. Avoid an early kite loop not to be ejected backwards, which is unavoidable sometime during learning. If this happens always complete the kite loop as a priority even while you are flying backwards falling on your back. Practice the body and kite movements on the beach first. It is easier if you are a little powered to keep kite power throughout the whole turn. If you are overpowered the kite loop must be quick and over your head , like an helpi-loop. I hope it all makes sense ! Have fun practicing ?
