I recently purchased a Levin for $500. It is almost precisely the size of a classical guitar. It has solid Birch sides and back. It's neck is of six pieces. Two halves ( I assume our maple), joined in the center in the direction through the fretboard facing, or from the back facing forward. A piece of teak or ebony running through the center for stability under string pressure. The fretboard and 2 pieces that make up no more than the width of the 1950s Style headstock. It gets weirder. The top is of 6 bookeds of varying wood grain qualities, beginning with the finest, tightest grain in the center (to sustain vids), and moving to lesser quality, wider grain wood at the extreme 5th and 6th bookend pieces at the outside of the body. I've never seen this before. My question is, does this oddity make the instrument I more valuable? If so, how much do you guess? We are just throwing the ball around here. It is after all, worth what someone will pay for it, if it's $40 or $4,000.

That's a very hard question to answer! I would suggest that you look at Vintage Guitars Levin information site and identify what model you have and what year it was built. With that information you could research the value a lot better. vintage-guitars.se/Levin/Levin_info.php

@@AndreasBrink Model number 2 1951, The Soloist. Thanks man. It seems that it was one of the least of their guitars and would explain the six-piece top, making use of the most would they could. This is the easiest guitar I've ever had to tune and I think it's because the tones are so Crystal clear. I wouldn't take the $500 back for it.
@AndreasBrink4 күн бұрын
@@scapegoatiscariot2767 Ok, if it is a Solist, it's a big archtop guitar. In Sweden it would cost at least three times what you paid for it, abroad maybe for or five times. Usually a top made from as few pieces as possible are more valuable.

@@AndreasBrink Then I have misunderstood the serial number. The body is the exact size as a classical guitar with a flat board joined at the 12th fret. It's a flat top. I'll look into it again and see if I can find out my mistake. I do think it's the cheaper guitar I just don't see anyone trying to sell this now or then for a high dollar. I just remembered, it came with a real heavy white pickguard floating on the surface. Three screws and I removed it. Okay God did some damage to the guitar but it's nothing affecting playability call me some fold😊 wood Integrity on the side and the two screw holes through the face. I knew the possibility of getting that thing snagged on cloth and tearing that guitar to pieces. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
