This is an automotive DIY channel focused on maintenance, repairs, and enhancements. I started posting videos on KZread as a way to "give back" to the community. What I mean by "give back" is, I always check KZread for projects that I'm about to tackle and get and idea of what I am getting into. I thought that I would give an additional perspective on a project that maybe another video was missing or just an alternative way to do something.

still have yet to see ANY videos online of a 3.5L Dodge timing belt replacement in which they show the motor purring like a kitten afterwards. They always seem to have an annoying tick to them that sounds like a timing issue. I've went through 4 sets of lifters, 2 trips to the mechanics, 1 to Dodge and always has the same issue. After spending 2K at the Dodge dealership I was told that the tick is normal. Its NOT normal and they know it. such a rip off. I love my old Dodge Magnum but this 3.5L HO engine has been a nightmare. For the problems I've had with it I probably could have converted it to a hellcat.
@@firstsergeant9361 my understanding about that tick is the poor design on the rocker assemblies. I was going to change mine but I sold the car.
@@DCAutoEnhancement awesome video~! my red dodge magnum has been sitting in my backyard tarped for 2 years now. Too lazy to try to tear that thing apart again but your video has inspired me to at least get a checklist ready and my tools organized for another stab at this damn thing.
Hi, i installed this stereo in my Ford Focus 2014. Everything is working fine except the tweeters. Can u plzz help me? How can i solve that issue?
Just double check wiring. Everything should be good. If that doesn't help, contact the seller.
Thankyou.
I found a damp coolant colour patch In this location after smelling a burning smell on start up passenger side on my tdci smell disappears really fast and inspection noticed this area. Got mechanic having a proper look Monday
Thanks! This saved me.
@@dominicperez7201 I love this kind of comment. I'm glad this video helped you! I have a bunch of Equinox videos if you ever need them, check out my playlists.
Can you also do the back up camera too? There’s no video of it online you’ll be the first
If I don't have the right socket to remove the sensor, can I use a combination wrench.?
@@Trigo974 yes, just use the boxed end.
@@DCAutoEnhancement thank you

I just installed a jvc dvd double din stereo but it says parking off when I try to play a dvd. What do I do? I did have an orange w/ white line on the stereo and solid orange wire on the harness but I just capped those off.
@@DangerousDave4U you either have a wire that should be grounded labeled" parking brake or that unit has a sensor in it that knows if it's moving or sitting still.
@@DCAutoEnhancement I just wired the parking brake wire into the harness connector ground and the dvd player is working now. Thanks man!

Awesome video, helps us non mechanic out
This is a pretty big job regardless. I hope your repair goes well! Thank you for watching and letting me know your thoughts!
Farout!
Will this work on 1999 Chevy Astro with aftermarket auto start??
@@FredOBoonk yes, they are fundamentally the same, you will just have more wires.
What a pain in the ass (for what it is). Lol. Thank you for sharing
Great video. I managed to replace my sensor in about 5 minutes. Unfortunately it didn't fix my issue, so I'm not sure what to do now. Having a mechanic check the wiring is going to cost way more than the $15 sensor I just replaced.
@@WeekdayWeekend did you check your coolant level?
@@DCAutoEnhancementit's visible right about where the manual says it should be, I can see the liquid in the reservoir. I'm having the same symptoms as others in the comments, my temp gauge doesn't go above minimum and my engine fan stays on for a few minutes after turning off the car.
@@WeekdayWeekend let me know what you find out
You mentioned putting the split at the top. Can you put it at the bottom? I'm thinking may let water drain out?
@@edwardmissouri2216 it's been a while since I did this job but if you can physically place it like that and the brackets go on, then I don't see any reason you couldn't put the split on the bottom. Your thought makes sense to me.
How often would you change the cabin filter ?
Suggestions range between 12,000-30,000 miles.
You didn't clean the cover or housing, wasted a good air filter and time spent
@@maximumoverload5134 can you believe the car is still on the road after that disastrous air filter replacement?
@DCAutoEnhancement Just saying it should've been wiped clean from all the dust to prevent premature use of new filter
@@maximumoverload5134 that information is more helpful to viewers looking at the comment section than your initial comment. How did you by pass the A/C issue, because if you disconnect the second main plug (Canbus) from the A/C buttons , it wont work anymore. Any advise?
@@sergiocclopes this car has the AC controls below the radio. They worked after I plugged in the can bus module. Nothin additional was done to make them work.
@@DCAutoEnhancement there are 2 plugs below the radio unit, one connected to the vent system and the other connected to the A/C on/off button and air circulation out/in or circular in... once the that plug is unplugged, those buttons dont work/control anything anymore!!? the A/C on/off is now controlled via the radio.

Thanks for this video. My 2015 Impala 3.6 is just like that. I have 75,000 on it, so at some point I will do this, now that I know how. Right now, it's time for it's first brake change. I would also replace the gasket as long as the intake is off. Why chance an air leak. It sure was a lot easier to work on engines when they were in a rear wheel drive.

O.o soooo theoretically how much does it cost to fix this 😅 My car is starting to hate existing.
@@avangileign1 I asked the Google machine and Google said $1300-$1500
WOW! That's a big job.
I had no abs or stabilitrak lights but I changed the driver side front wheel bearing hub due to noise. Got these lights afterwards. Pulled everything off and verified the tone strip is present on the hub. 2017 2wD equinox. If i turn the car off then back on, drive backwards about 100' the lightsdisappear. When i drive forward it's fine until i hit 15 mph then the lights come back on. I love troubleshooting. My scan tool doesn't see these faults, I'm trying the disconnect battery for 20 mins method. If that doesn't work I'll ohm sensors.
@@brigfiche I'm curious now, let me know what you find. I am assuming you didn't unhook or remove the speed sensor from the knuckle, right?
@@DCAutoEnhancement i did remove the sensor while working and reinstalled it when I was done with the hub swap.
@brigfiche the only thought I have is double checking that the sensor isn't damaged or unplugged
@@DCAutoEnhancement With the sensor installed I unplugged and ohm'd the connector, measured 17.46 M ohms. I removed the sensor to see if it would test differently in open air and away from the tone ring, it measured as an open circuit, reinstalled and measured open circuit again. Ordered a new sensor. I'll update tomorrow evening after installing it.
@@brigfiche thank you, I'm still interested in your results.

It should go ok. Thanks for watching
Just got at 2013 yesterday and minds did this but it said motor has reduced power and when the check engine light came on it felt like i had lost all power as if i was driving it in manual 😢
I have found that these lights can be triggered by many different things. A simple code reader may point you in the right direction but an obd scan tool with live data capabilities may be able to better locate the issue. I am curious to know what you find out.
Any guess as to how much this will weigh when it’s complete and rolling down the road? 3,000 lbs ? The Rancheros are relatively light in stock form, maybe 2,600 lbs. in the big scheme of things this LS engine will be pushing about 2,000 lbs less than what it normally does! It should be really quick ....
I'm not sure of gross or net weight when done but, yes the engine should definitely have less of a load than it's previous life. 🤣
Do you have another video explaining this project! I’m curious to see what you are doing as I have a ‘62 Ranchero and those unibodies flex under heavy load. Have also considered an LS swap....so this is interesting to me. Also the old Falcons just simply don’t have much room under the hood with those bulky shock towers, this cures that issue also! Cool project, keep us informed.
I originally considered a mustang II front end but it was going to be in the neighborhood of $2800. Once I got a closer look at the frame rails and saw how bad they were, I decided I needed to go a different direction. I have always wanted to do an engine swap, air ride and fabrication. Here is a playlist on the Ranchero, the shorts will give you the most up to date status: Ranchero: kzread.info/head/PLe0AKNEOkemgOy-g6OCZa_QodKGG_0NS4

Do you have to change the hub and bearing assembly on both sides.
I only changed the confirmed bad wheel bearing/hub.

My 2010 tundra remote start viper alarm system finally took a dump. I couldn’t start my truck…I saw a fuse sticking out of a cable coming from a big black box that said Viper on it, I pulled out the fuse…..My truck starts now. I’m attempting to replace my radio as well but the only problem is i’m getting confused with the wiring. My radio is a single din and much smaller than that stock radio you took out. I have 3 connectors from the old one but i’m not sure how to wire it
Is yours a 2009?
Me gusta tu trabajo lo ases muy Rapido
Gracias, aprecio tu tiempo.
Are you scared to get your hands dirty? I notice alot of gloves on the new generation. Must be a bunch of babies
Yeah that or not wanting to destroy my cameras. I can't afford not to take care of my equipment.
@DCAutoEnhancement since the early 90's always worked on my vehicles bare handed but the last 5 years I've used nitrile gloves. I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado that had the power steering pump leak all over everything on the driver's side of the engine when I bought it from the previous owner in 2019. Before replacing the power steering pump and water pump I cleaned everything up and the nitrile gloves saves my hands from all of the built up gunk. Now whenever I work on my vehicles or lawn equipment I always wear gloves and I still have a container of Fast Orange and Gojo Cherry that I've had for at least 5-6 years that hasn't been used because my hands are clean when I'm done 😂
@@bunky021543 there's nothing wrong with keeping clean. Women tend to appreciate it too🤣
@@DCAutoEnhancementI know my wife does 😂
So if it's leaking do I need a new water pump or just the seal?
If your water pump is leaking, usually it is due to an internal leak and not as simple as the water pump gasket leaking. That is why it is most common to replace the water pump itself. I hope this helps.
Replaced water pump then now car runs rough in engine light is flashing...
@@snowbunnee1471 sounds like maybe the timing is off. Maybe the one of the two cams are not in time with the crank shaft.
