    I kept them for 4 years and then brushed them out once we found mold in our home and I wanted to start fresh. 💔 I haven't let my hair knot up again since, but I might!

    @@slamdunkdrunk I’m a new dreadhead, almost a year from when I got my first row done. I went gradually, and just got the full head done 2 months ago. The fluffiness is driving me crazy!! But I’m watching all things about dreadlocks, and I enjoyed your videos!

    @@slamdunkdrunk definitely on the maintenance train. Thank goodness I have an appointment tomorrow. Im starting to space out my hair washing to every other week so it’ll hopefully keep them intact for longer. I’d love to start trying my hand at maintenance on my own and just have my roots tidied up on occasion.

    Thanks for the vid! I'm going to sub. I'm at 2 months too. Yours are much neater than mine! You've encouraged me to re-backcomb some of mine. Some only have 3/4" of actual loc then the rest is loose aha. Mine in the back are kind of flat from sleeping tho hmmm

  • @jfacedoesstuff4455
    @jfacedoesstuff44554 жыл бұрын

    Haha, well don't be discouraged. I worked on mine a lot in the beginning, but didn't really know what I was doing, and also expected them to look finished right at the beginning. Now at almost 3 years, I've since learned and experienced that during the locking process, hair may go through various stages of coming undone and tightening up and that's all part of tangling and forming a knot. I wish I had done a better job backcombing them thoroughly off the bat, and then just left them alone other than separation at the roots. I had a couple of flat locks in the back too, but mine just rounded out eventually on their own. I kind of wish they hadn't though, haha--i think flat locks look so cool! You should take pictures/video of your progress every month for this first year--it's so cool to go back and see how much they changed and how quickly! I'll look you up! I'd love to follow your progress. ☺️

    I feel you! it was so uncomfortable having alot of loose hair.. I forgot to mention my spray! I love it to freshen up in the mornings too. Yeah, I got my maintenance done last week and I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE THIS IS. I'll share the video on Friday!!! I would love to hear more about your spray--you should mention it in your next update! Well, about my ends--I was always shooting for the "paintbrush tips", so not loose, but not blunted. Just a bit pointed. However, people have told me that dreads have a tendency to eat up the ends, and so I'm leaving mine longer for a bit and I'll see how they develop. Thanks for the love, friend!!!

But I've recently added a few things to my spray this week. My ends deserve a whole video lol! They are very high maintenance!! My dreads form from the tips so I'm constantly brushing & conditioning them. Good to see you my friend, I'm looking forward to Fridays video✌🏽😃👍🏽

    Thanks! I can't wait to share the maintenance video, too--I'm posting it on friday! Yours will be 3 years old? Wow--that's awesome! I have huge amounts of respect for the patience that goes into neglect--I think I'll lean more that way once my knots have matured and won't have all this loose hair that snags, haha. I love how low-maintenance my hair is, but I definitely appreciate how my scalp feels after I got maintenance last week and now that my loose hairs are tucked in and not pulling. : )
