    Someone asked a question in regards to 'Our experience with the Proton' but I just can't find the question anymore. If you are the one seeking this feedback, I hope you can find the answer. Here it goes: Overall the Proton is a very good portable tennis ball machine. We didn't have major problems with the machine in all this time of using it. Here are the key features that make this machine unique: 1. Custom Drills. It is very easy to program custom drills using your Smart Phone. 2. Light to carry around. 3. It has a very good natural ball feel. It feels more like a sparing partner. 4. The included drills are very good as well. 5. Once, a ball got stuck in the mouth of the machine. We sent it back for repairs and they replaced most of the parts. We had extended warranty BUT this repair went under an additional Service/Repair deal that they had at the time. Take a look at their website and see if that deal is still valid. Overall, this machine has been one of the best investments we've made in our tennis training. We use it as an additional practice technique to our professional tennis lessons.

    How do you like Proton compared to some other machines you have used? I own a SpinFire and I want something that can give me custom drills with backspin/topspin like the Proton does. Any issues since purchasing your Proton? Did you get the extra one year warranty? Regarding the strap to carry it, I am thinking you can just buy something on wheels like a small shopping cart then you do not have to waste time removing and placing straps back on. I imagine one day the strap might break and then your machine will fall. There are two ball machines from what I can see that can do variable spin, your Proton and something called Titan Ace. But the Titan app is not as good as the Proton and the reviews on it are minimal as it just came out this year I think.

    We own only two tennis ball machines: the Proton and the SpinFire. We actually tried the Silent Partner but it was too heavy to lift or handle up and down from the car. These 2 machines are both good but in different ways. The Proton is light and easy to move. It has the phone app which is awesome and yes, the custom drills are priceless. Even the feel of the ball is more human like not at tough or spiny as the Spin Fire. We like the Spin Fire for its robustness. Other than that, we haven't tried other ball machines so I can't speak to that. In terms of problems with Proton: - the side to side or random mechanism is not as robust as the SpinFire. It has something like a drift. It depends on your acceptance level. - we had only one problem when one of the balls got stuck in, because one the players sent it with power on target and it got stuck inside the machine. We were not able to remove the ball and we sent it for repair to Hydrogen. We were very lucky at that time they had something like a "service plan" I can't remember for sure but it was not expensive only 150 USD and shipping included. They replaced a lot of parts and when we got the Proton back - it was like a new machine. They also fixed many things so it is a new Proton version for $150 - basically for free. - we did purchase the warranty, but that would cover the cost if something breaks. The case when the player returns the ball and it gets stuck in the mouth of the machine, that wouldn't have been covered. - I could say that the main problem is the drift from side to side movement - but we've adapted to it and don't expect much precision on that level. They've fixed a few things but because of the way the Proton moves on horizontal it drifts a bit and you will have to reposition the machine from time to time. When we want to have a more precise lateral movement we use the SpinFire. I think that this is basically it. Hope this helps! Any more questions, we are happy to help if we can. Good Luck!

  • @TrainLikeAProDaily

    And one more thing. Yes, if you can find a way like a shopping cart or a bigger travel bag on wheels that would make it even easier to carry it around. If you have to walk from the parking to the tennis court and you carry other gear as well, definitely it makes it easier to find something on wheels.

    @@TrainLikeAProDaily Thanks for replying. I was looking for a machine to help me further improve and I feel like spinfire is no longer helping me. I need something that can replicate as you mention more variety in the drills. For example, forehand cross court with backspin, then topspin then backhand cross with slice. I can customize the drills this way to help me practice different strokes whereas with my Spinfire, its either you practice topspin, flat or slice but I do not want to hit an entire basket of balls knowing in advance the spin type coming to me. For the lateral shots from Proton, is the delay low enough that you feel pressure to get to each ball. For example, how does it compare to spinfire wide feed? I am well familiar with spinfire as ive owned it for 2 years now.

    @@ketokonazol For something that the ball machine doesn't provide, we've used best the Proton ball machine. It has something that helps with volleys. It is like a "leg" that you put under the machine. But what is the most helpful thing about the Proton for us is Programmable Drills and Targeting. Programmable Drills: Proton machines allow programming shot sequences. You can design drills that alternate deep groundstrokes with short balls landing near the net, forcing you to react and play volleys. For instance, some users design drills with a low volley included in the shot sequence Targeting: While not specifically designed for volleys, Proton machines allow targeting specific zones on the court. You can program some balls to land short near the net, helping you practice reaction volleys.

Depending on which balls you pick you will have a different feel for those shots. For example regular Penns are heavier while Wilson Trinity are bouncier and lighter. Here's more information on what makes an inside-out forehand and why it is important to practice this drill. We hope it helps. An inside-out forehand is a powerful shot hit from the side of the court where you would normally play a backhand, but using your dominant forehand grip and swing. It's essentially "running around" your backhand to hit a forehand diagonally across the court or down the line. Here's a breakdown of what it is and how it works: Preparation: Use a semi-western or western grip, which offers more control and spin. Do a split step and then jump back with your non-dominant leg (left leg for right-handed players). Pivot your body and shoulders towards the incoming ball. The shot: Bend your knees and load your weight on your back leg. Swing your racket back, creating tension and preparing for the forward swing. Transfer your weight forward as you swing the racket through the ball. Aim for a diagonal angle, targeting your opponent's backhand side. Maintain good follow-through to finish the shot and maintain balance. Tips for hitting an inside-out forehand: Footwork is key: Make sure you move quickly and efficiently to get to the ball in time. Timing is crucial: Hit the ball a bit later than you would for a regular forehand. Don't overdo it: Only use the inside-out forehand strategically when you have a good opportunity. Practice makes perfect: Like any shot, mastering the inside-out forehand requires consistent practice and this drill is one drill that helps with achieving a good inside-out forehand.

If you get a chance to see how it feels on court, please leave a review here as well. As you've probably seen on our channel we have the Proton and Spinfire. We love the Proton because it is light and the balls have a natural feel - as you are sparing with a partner. On the other hand the Spinfire is robust, the spin is up there - much tougher machine. My understanding is that it can't get higher than 70mph - but there is a lot to add to this if you also add the spin variables. I am between spin shot and slinfire .spinshot has 12 driils customable.. unfortunately spinfire will not come with it

  • @TrainLikeAProDaily
    @TrainLikeAProDaily11 ай бұрын

    Yes, you are right. Spinfire doesn't come with customizable drills but it has the option of totally random shots. What we liked about Spinfire is the fact that it is solid. It just doesn't breakdown. We also got the Proton and we practice with the Proton a lot just because of the custom drills. But, the Proton is not as solid as Spinfire. For example, it drifts and you have to realign to baseline from time to time. So there are pluses and minuses to all these ball machines. In the end it comes down to what features you are interested the most in and how it feels during the practice.

    @@TrainLikeAProDaily don't know about proton ,i think that is expensive. But spinshot you can customise whatever you want and has of course random oscillation. Only advance on spinfire is interlan oscillation ,while lot of other machine has external.but i am thinking tl buy either one or other.but the idea that i can customise any shot in terms of speed height spin etc it is something I like. Yes,i suppose that slinfire is reliable and solid machine .In any case thank you!

    Quando colpisci la palla di diritto o di rovescio tieni la racchetta rivolta leggermente verso l alto. È giusto???

  • @TrainLikeAProDaily
    @TrainLikeAProDaily Жыл бұрын

    Ciao! Grazie mille per la tua domanda. Guarda questo video: mostra come la racchetta si sposta dal basso verso l'alto per intercettare la palla. Abbiamo realizzato questo video per mostrare come controllare lo swing della racchetta in modo che il giocatore possa capire come mantenere la distanza dalla palla, mostrando anche come la racchetta si muove attraverso la palla e poi finisce sopra la spalla. Spero che questo aiuti a rispondere alla tua domanda. Pubblicheremo un altro video che mostra passo dopo passo la tecnica del dritto. Speriamo che questo aiuti. Grazie mille.

    Can it throw a slice or back spin?

  • @TrainLikeAProDaily
    @TrainLikeAProDaily Жыл бұрын

    Yes, it can throw a backspin. The Proton has a Max Spin feature of 3000 RPM. For backspin just set a negative value up to 3000. For example set a - 500 for a backspin 500 RPM.

  • @TrainLikeAProDaily
    @TrainLikeAProDaily Жыл бұрын

    This is a top spin technique. Holding your arm helps you move into the ball and finish the shot with your elbow up. Also, it helps you understand distance to the ball. All these elements help you improve this forehand technique which is a top spin technique.

    This video is over-produced. There's no need for dramatic music. I can see if you're jumping off a cliff wearing a wing suit but not needed for demoing a tennis ball machine. 😝
