Everyone seems to have identified that the problem is the missing batten that goes on the apex of the roof truss. I have this batten on mine and it doesn’t leak. But I noticed they were only using a batten strap at the end of the batten. Thereafter they screwed straight through the batten into the top of the truss. I can see some of these screws in the loft. I saw them doing it and queried it, but they said it’s fine. Admittedly it seems secure, but I think it was lazy and I wouldn’t ask them back. What’s the view of the trade ?

It’s easy to blame the homeowner for going cheap, but it’s really difficult to get a good roofer. I only try people who’ve been recommended or whose work I’ve been watching locally, but I still haven’t got my re-roof. Other people are probably less cautious and take a chance on whoever they can get. It’s risky though and can be a waste of money or just make matters worse. Yes, there’s always people out there who want cheap and take the risk, but the cowboys also get work just because there aren’t enough professionally skilled roofers out there.

I bought a fake one (I knew it was fake, I just needed a cheap blower) It worked fine for a while, I've had it nearly a year but use if only occasionally. Well today the impeller inside the fan shattered into about 8-9 pieces, some blew out the front, the others pieces stayed inside. The impeller looks like a very brittle weak cheap plastic. I do not recommend buying this fake.

Ignore this it is bullshit. As soon as someone says 'reset the chip' it's clear they have no idea what they are talking about. When these batteries detect certain fault characteristics, which involves a number of variables including cell unbalance, voltage below a threshold and high inrush current followed by high rate of temperature rise the onboard microprocessor executes a onetime script that writes a permanent fault flag to the onboard eeprom and then blows a fusible TTL datalink preventing any further writing to the eeprom. The BMS in these batteries is not a simple yes or no when it comes to charging, there are multiple boolean flags and sensor readings that have to be within parameters before charging will commence. There is more computing power in that battery than there is in an iPhone 1.

It does no such thing. The only way banging a battery on and off a charger like that is going to 'work' is if there's a loose connection on the charging circuit. Once the eeprom has flagged a permanent fault it is impossible to change it. It is a write once code execution that then locks the eeprom.

I tried this approach to fill some small tears in my lead flashing. Looked to be ideal for a diy fix but didn't work. Every time it was too easy to melt the lead as well as the solder. Using a propane blow torch on code 3 lead. Slightly more success with a 70% butane/30% propane mix but still all too easy to blow holes in the lead itself. Don't know how you managed to do it

its a common fault you can repair the pipe if its leaking with a 10mm conex plumbing joint and you can buy the pipe ends on E-bay also a complete pipe which i bought of e-bay for £35.00 not bad considering dealers wanted £130.00 for the same pipe came within 24hr delivery was worth it
@doitmyway9089 Жыл бұрын
I wish my pipe only cost that, I think it cost me £159 of ebay and had to import it from a ford dealer in Ireland as even the Ford dealer in England couldn't get the pipe. For the mk7 pipe it was £35 but mine was the newer mk8. My pipe wasn't repairable because it was rusted so thin all the way to where it broke of in the ram.

I’m sure there will be negative comments, such as “you don’t want to do it like that!!!” but this is a great video for people who just want to make a small internal corner or apron flashing for their chimney back gutter or roof
