Is he from Wisconsin?
You always seem to find the bargains. Those lilies and lupins and other perennials will look great next year. Bonny
Thanks Bonnie I just check if I am in the area of Home Depot. Week days seem to be best. Sure glad I didn’t buy some of the Veronica’s a month ago I really wanted to add some more to the garden I really like them.
I need to find the peach & red.
The firefly peach is a proven winners so try a greenhouse that sells Proven Winners. The red yarrow I found at Home Depot. They have a lot of yarrow here. I am trying to plant more drought resistant plants that are easy maintenance and these are reliable and easy to grow. I did grow some from seed waiting to see the colours they are just starting to bud. So you could also try that as well. They are easy to grow from seed if you don’t over water they like to be dry I learnt that the hard way lol.
I ❤ cleaning up bargain plants❤
You really scored on the discount perennials. The garden bed is looking great.
Yes I lucked out I just randomly check when I am in the area of Home Depot I find mornings are best and after weekends.
Next year should be really awesome!😊
Yes I am already thinking of next year the weather just hasn’t been the best and a lot of seedlings just didn’t mature as expected.
Busy day in the garden and glad you didn't use the axe. lol You are so good at finding plants that work well in your garden.
Thanks so much the axe was a fun prop actually Rob was using it to get some tree roots out in that bed that I kept hitting with the shovel. I could use it to split plants but that is a little dangerous I can be a clumsy. There was a video of a youtube gardener who was pruning her boxwood hedge with hedge trimmers and for some reason stuck her hand in the hedge. She ended up needing emergency surgery to reconnect her finger tips and lost feeling I. Some fingers that gave me chills.
I'd feel like I won the lottery😊! Good for you for saving those plants. 🇨🇦
That was the most stock I have seen marked down and to have a staff offer to mark any down was a first. I usually ask when I see plants that are dying in bad shape if they are gonna mark them down and a lot of the time the staff will say no but this time she was happy to help so I took advantage of it. Why not sell them rather than garbage them such a waste. I sometimes get the odd one that doesn’t survive after planting but I don’t feel bad about it when I pay $3 for it worth the risk.
I hope this works on mine bc it’s really dying. 3 of them are like brown or black. And the other one is barely hanging 😭
Hopping them back really helps and then feeding them. Let me know how you make out. As long as they aren’t to far gone you should be able to get them to leaf out again.
I loved seeing the delicate pansies. With all the strong stemmed flowers that can take the heat the pansy were a nice surprise with their multicolored faces. You did an amazing job growing petunias. I like the pots around the deck and appreciate the fertilizing tip for fuschia. Thanks.
Just gorgeous 😍
Thanks Bobbie!
Your containers are looking good and I like all your colour combinations. They have that tropical vibe. I put 3 of the bubblegum petunias in my window box and completely filled it out. I will be doing that again next year. Your delphiniums are gorgeous! Bonny
Thanks Bonnie I do like Bubble gum I find the wave perform just as good if you can find the colour you want. I bet your window box is pretty.
Oh yay! I love a walk through your garden. The driveway pots are awesome and the petunias can't be beat in ground or pots they really perform. Awesome tip about the fuchsia fertilizer I will definitely try this.
Thanks Terria the heat has really helped.
Thank you for this explanation! I received 2 mini rose bushes earlier this month and they are not looking so hot. Hoping this will help (:
Very beautiful, beautiful colors that is beautiful ❤
Thank you so much it’s definitely a good year for Petunias we are finally getting some heat and they are starting to fill out.
Oh those Delphinium!!! Flowers bring so much joy to our lives.
Yes the colour is really happy and bright I look forward to them every year last year they weren’t the best they made up for it this year.
You should try tree lillys they grow really tall so if you want height in your garden they could nice plus you can divide them and have extra plants fir next year ,your containers look lovely i like the waterfall style of containers so to me your containers are simply lovely, your bubble gum container was also really pretty, i say maybe try some iris theres different heights of iris from dwarf, intermediate and standard iris sizes. My garden looks a hot mess we unfortunately got a bad batch of weedy mulch along with higher temps of 90s( 30ish Celsius)alot of rain high humidity i have to just let my garden go weed this season waiting to cooler weather toward winter where i could overhaul from weeds.its sad but now i know i have to use different style mulch.
You read my mind I was considering ordering some for fall planting I have a couple near the house I want to move but they would be a great filler and they’re so nice.
When will your roses bloom? how long? Is it all summer or a few weeks? How tall and wide will they get?
They just started blooming this week but they will bloom all summer with a break in between is what I have found usually a couple weeks after first blooms then they flush out again.
@@creatingmygarden Thank you 😊
The yarrow and clematis are lovely together! 🇨🇦👏
Thanks can’t go wrong with pink and purple together. I have used a lot of these two colours this year and I will probably add more to that bed.
They r nice . 😊
They have a nice soft colour and a sweet scent but not too strong.
The amendments will make those plants very happy. Love the clematis!!!
Thanks I am going to do the rest of the bed the same it’s long overdue.
Loving that Tie Dye clematis! Never seen anything like that before. Bonny
Me either it’s so unusual. I only seen rule and white tie dye at Rona I will keep a look out to see if it comes in other combos.
You are correct about the sand, I have a lot of clay and when I went to our reputable garden Center and talked to a horticulturist about gypsum, he suggested using 30% sand as it is less expensive, he did warn about putting too much also. Love your yarrow! Great video. Brenda🇨🇦ZN4
Yes they say over 30% makes the soil to hard. I find sand helps to break up the clay a bit plus adding other amendments with it should help as well. I just want it to be easier to weed and plant in. Not as concerned about drainage in that bed.
Can we add this yeast solution when it had been raining the last few days The soil is moist
Yes it would be a nice addition for the plants
Loved the “ soapbox “ ! Robbie from Visit Our Garden said the same thing a few months ago and the 🧌 and nasties crept back under their rocks! …..Hasn’t the rain been both a blessing and a curse, but it’s better than a drought any day! Lovely stand of delphiniums, thanks for showing them! 🇨🇦👏🌸
Thanks Peggy!
I’ve heard it called a 30% nature tax to the critters!
I'm not a gardener. Can he be my friend?
Ha ha you could try to friend him!
Gotta share the space with others, don't be greedy. The land belong to them.
Ohh thank you. My Rose tree is dying I am going to do this.😁💕.. I learned something New.
Let me know how you make out.
@@creatingmygarden ok I will thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing your yarrow. I am all about the yellow.
It’s a super nice bright yellow really stands out in the garden.
Just gorgeous Jacqueline! I enjoy it when gardeners talk about their garden. We are all learning. Bonny
Thanks Bonnie. Their having a really good year and from staked them up for me and then I added another level of string they are so tall need longer stakes for next year.
Beautiful! How do you sow seeds on top of the soil without them blowing away? I had 3 but a couple weeks ago & noticed something attacking them and discovered a green catepillar type thing 😂! Researched to find it was Delphinium Worm which is caused by not cutting them down before winter, the worms hibernate in the hollow stem… darn it! I don’t cut all my plants down in winter because I find the dead foliage protects the crown in our low gardening zone, but Delphiniums are new to me so I’ve learned my lesson! Advice was to cut them down to about 2-3” and they will come back, and they are! I will look for your video on direct sowing them. Thanks so much Brenda🇨🇦ZN4
Stunning! I think they look best when planted en mass.
Yes I love them all mixed together.
The Delfiniums are looking amazing.
The rain really helped and staking them properly so they’re straight.
So beautiful!! Are those perennials?
Yes they are and very hardy and reliable come back every year.
Beautiful. I tried some direct sewing this spring, but they didn't take. I will try again next year.
They will probably show up next year they take at least 2 weeks or more to germinate and can show up in full force in the spring. They like to be kept moist and sown on top of soil not covered. Let me know if they show up in the Spring I have experienced that too.
❤
Thanks Kathy!
awesome video! great to see these colours in a real setting and great tips - thank you!
Thanks for watching!
🌹🌹🌹🌹 I enjoyed your video. Thanks for the Shake n Feed tip ! I never knew it was called that. I was asking for slow release fertilizer and always met with " I don't carry it. It's not necessary. Just use our Scott's rose fertizer". My roses are very green and leafy but I only have two new blooms and I waited a month for them after dead heading. I watched a video that said to dead head and add coffee grounds to speed up new growth and buds. Which works well but your advice here seems more to my liking. Two of 8 in the same 7 inch pot budded and gave blooms. I'm in Calgary. I grow indoors and take them outside for 5 hours each day and have to babysit them as I live amist downtown office buildings. I transplanted them all into a 7 inch pot a month after getting them. Couldn't find bone meal or slow release so just gave them L E D lighting until I learned they need full sun. Difficult to find sun downtown here and a bench nearby close to home where I can sit in shade. Yesterday, before seeing this video, I cut off most leaves. I kept the 5 leaf branches and new growth , trying to cut to a small bud on the outside of a stem bend. The plant grew 3 inches with only one hour sun this morning and looks healthy. I get yellow dried out leaves nd gave it onion peel water which seems to help.
Nice to meet you and thanks for the feedback. Yes you’re in a challenging situation with the amount of sun you get and finding slow release fertilizer. Light is gonna be the key to get them to bloom for sure. You could also give them some ground up egg shells so they get some calcium. If you have any liquid fertilizer you could give them a drink every other week when you water as well to help them produce blooms. I think you’re on the right track. Use the led lights to give them a good 16 hours light.
@@creatingmygardenHello ! I have a question. What do I do if I'm cutting down the stems but there aren't any nodes to cut down to ? Do I wait for nodes to develop ?
I'm in Portland, Oregon where the weather has been perfect to cool the past couple months and then crazy hot this last week and my yarrow hasn't bloomed at all yet. Why are you getting gorgeous blooms in Canada???
My guess is all the rain we have had it just finally warmed up this week. Now the plants are starting to colour up.
You have so many colors!
Thanks I have become very fond of yarrow and all the orange colours are so nice and such a good filler plant I have started adding more of them.
Really well done video! Informative.
Thank you so much!
it really does stop bleeding!
I will have give it a try.
I just bought a "distressed" terracotta Yarrow from Rona for $3 for a 1 gallon plant! It's just starting to bloom.
@@c.o8016 great deal they are so easy to grow I hope you enjoy it the colour is amazing.
Can I use bicarbonate soda with the yeast
I haven’t tried that but you could test it and see how it turns out.
I like all your shades of yarrow. I still haven't bought any yet. I do have the white yarrow. I didn't plant it I think it's wild. Bonny
@@richbishop7896 yes it’s a good 😌 plant very attractive and least amount of effort.
I like Yarrow and recently learned that it is native to most of North America.
Yes they use to use for treating wounds
Doyd🤎👩❤️👩
PROP-a-gate like HOP instead of PROPE-a-gate
Thanks Cindy quick question are you in Canada?
What happen to the 2022 Annebelle propagation?? Did any of them take??
Yes some took some didn’t make the winter really I should have started them July. All rooted so that wasn’t an issue.
