Hate to sound cold and heartless, but we're doing everything possible to make addiction more comfortable, taking away the pain with food, cash, medical treatment and "recovery" centers, where they get shelter and drugs ARE snuck in anyway. That's why there are SO MANY addicts. We are killing them with kindness. Tough love would be much more compassionate.

I live in the U.S. I used to feel about my country the way you feel about yours. I now feel very sad about where we are. Believe me when I say that not everyone in the U.S. is this way. Many of us are disgusted with where we are and where we are headed. There seems to be NO accountability for one’s actions and too many excuses for people’s behaviors. Our country is being destroyed from within. Maybe that’s the plan, I don’t know anymore. It needs to stop, I know that. 😢
