Psychological Society of Ireland

Psychological Society of Ireland

The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is the learned and professional body for psychology and psychologists in the Republic of Ireland. Since its birth in 1970 the Society has grown from a mere 17 members and now represents circa 4,500 members.

What do we do?

When the Psychological Society of Ireland was established its primary objective was the advancement of psychology as an applied science in Ireland and elsewhere.

The PSI has helped cultivate a high standard of psychology in Ireland which is visible in both academic and professional settings. These high standards provide psychologists who study and work in Ireland with the qualifications and experience that is needed to gain membership with the PSI.

'...symptoms are not only a starting point for treatment but are also indispensable for human existence.' An important point in Lacan that no Lacanian in my experience has said so clearly and neatly. Well done.

Such a great session, thank you! Hugely informative both in terms of studying psychology and psychology careers. The information on conversion courses will be particularly helpful for career changers. I'll be sharing it widely.

How did the human race ever survive before your work, Dr. Sabrina Coyle? Honestly, the fact your work is even necessary goes to show how sick our civilization has become.

Well done to previous presidents including Mark Smith who contributed enormously for these changes to be visible and being proactively growing and achievable .... I wish all the best to Vincent and I hope all departments will provide the best transparent support to health and Irish communities which will allow psychologists to be perceived as enablers and human touch point experience in promoting wellbeing and simplifing the diagnoses of multiple genetically or devolopled psychological illnesses experienced by various citizens of all ages. good luck and I'm privileged to be member of a such prestigious psychological society.

What aspects of my self-hood brought me into this work? Iatrogenic psychiatric practice What are the ways of being in my work that I particularly value? Being able to help clients make sense of their experiences (accurate empathetic understanding and conveyance). Being genuinely affirming and hope-fostering. Being the living proof. What did my family and friends said about me that made me think it was worth spending all this time training in order to do this kind of work? I am highly passionate about 'mental health'.
