    Hello Nadine. New subscriber here. Just found you by accident on KZread. Love your knitting projects. I found it hard to find your podcast on my phone (the E15 doesnt allow your channel to pop up. Just leave the episode no out or at the end..(algorithm thing). I'm Bondi Crafter here on KZread. I love Holts Garn supersoft and I've found its more economical to buy a Cone when Holts have Sales in Denmark. The international postage is good too

    Hi! I'm a new subscriber after YT suggested your video to me. I was delighted to see that you are a Canadian living down under. I'm a Canadian who grew up in NZ:) Would you recommend the yarn from Custom Woolen mills? It does seem like it pills quite a bit. Years ago I used to order roving from CWM for Waldorf dolls. I had forgotten they existed! I do see that a Canadian store sells Plötulopi wool. I'm interested in dipping my toes into unspun yarn knitting:)

A friend was volunteering at a community coat drive and it was donated but it wasn’t looking it’s best . She recognized it has hand knit and saved it from the goodwill bin to see if we could find a better home . We gave it a good clean and a shave and it’s back on track . Did any of your knitting habits/approach to knitting change after moving to Australia? I’m from Alaska originally and now live in a part of the US where it gets really hot in the summer. I couldn’t handle working with wool in the heat at first, and have started exploring more summer garments and using plant fibers to be able to enjoy handknits throughout the year. Have you experienced anything similar? Canada to Australia sounds like a big change!

  • @handcraftswithnadine
    @handcraftswithnadine2 ай бұрын

    Oh yes for sure! I do knit a lot of summer tops now mostly in linen/cotton/bamboo. A surprising thing is though that I wear my sweater a lot more in the winter here as the homes are not really built for the cold. When it’s 10degrees Celsius outside, it’s 10 degrees inside as well! When I visited my Mum in Calgary in Winter I found it too warm to wear my sweaters inside.

    I use Holst Garn yarn and they are fantastic particularly when you work out that you can use it single ply, holding 2 strands and even 3 strand together. This gives 3ply, 6ply and 9ply options. 6ply can be used for sport weight patterns. I do a size smaller and go up a needle size. Same for the 9ply. So many wonderful colours and you can hold two different colours together to get some very attractive mixes. Washing - I add eucalyptus wool wash to the water and I soak over night so oils can be well released as well as excess dye. Squeeze out then rinse in fresh water. I then carefully place in a garment bag and and spin on delicate cycle in washing machine to remove water. Garments are well supported by the bag and stay compacted and in excellent shape. Have been doing this for years and my garments stay in excellent condition. ❤
