    Is getting the 91 Tune and using 93 octane safe? Ive done some research and got conflicting answers. Most people just say use the octane you tuned it for, others say going higher in octane isnt a problem.

  • @MachMotorsport
    @MachMotorsport2 күн бұрын

    If you have the 91 Tune, it will be optimized to run with 91 Octane. That being said, you can run 93-94 Octane but there will be no benefit as the 91 Tune is only designed to get the most from 91 Octane, nothing higher.

    Im using versatuner with my mazda 6 2.5L and yes everything youve said has been true, power to redline is just better- period. The midrange gets muscles- it pulls much harder than before. This is especially true in 3rd gear. And when using auto it's shifts are just as intuitive for fuel economy or when you want to punch it, keeping close to Mazda's original with faster response. The trade off is having to use premium fuel but it's worth it for the better ride.

    I’ve owned the 22 GR86 Premium and now 23 MX-5 Club. The GR86 has worse clutch, throttle, and shifter. The GR86 has better steering. The Miata rides much better for the streets. I’ve only test driven the BRZ but it was similar to the GR86.

    Pricing wise your comparison is flawed, the ND starts at 28K USD add the RF, Brembo and body trim yes you get to 50K, I am not sure about the various packages with the BRZ, but as stated your sons sounds like its bare bones compared to your ND which is dressed for the prom. I like the look of the RF, but the rag top is the only way to go...... BRZ doesn't offer that option

    Here in South Carolina, I drive every day, we get about 1" of snow every 10 or so years, schools close here when it snows that heavy.😁 Born and raised in D.C., I know a little bit about driving in snow. Down here, that's a problem. People have no idea how to drive in the snow. When living up north, I never used snow tires, I'd just air down the rear tires for better gripping and never got stuck. Down here I have the pleasure of a top-down drive year-round. The worst months down here are February and March, but not every year. Later, Carlos... By the way, I'm on my 5th MX-5

  • @carlosbrigett2574
    @carlosbrigett2574Ай бұрын

    I'm on my 5th MX-5. The 4th was a '23 and was totaled. I have another '23 to replace it, same model, etc. I've never had a moments trouble out of any of them and I traded them with anywhere from, 43K miles to 85K miles, the 4th had 23K miles when it was totaled. At 79 I take two rides a day, once in the morning and another in the afternoon. My 1st two cars were MGB's, a '64 and a '66, both bought new. They had daily and weekly maintenance to look after. The 1st thing to do with both cars was to cut the resonators off and have a straight pipe welded on. The last 2 MX-5's I finally found the right exhaust set-up. It isn't a muffler, just a straight pipe w/ a Helmholtz Chamber attached perpendicularly to the straight pipe. A Goodwin RoadsterSport Race Muffler is what they call it. Hell, $419.00, and free shipping, you can't go wrong. I think these MX-5's will go down in automotive history much as the Jaguar XKE is viewed. May GOD Bless Mazda!

    I bought a 22 GR86 Premium for 32K and a 23 MX-5 Club for 36.5K. The Miata came with BBS wheels, Brembos, Bilsteins, Recaros, and aero kit. So in my mind the MX-5 was better bang for the buck by far.

    I have a daily MT NC2 Miata. I would not change it for anything. It's addictive, fun, and you can put the hardtop fully down with the roll bar installed. I owned two modified wrx[s], and while i loved them, I completely adore my Miata. It feels special all of the time. I love how the ND looks, but the NC is just a bit more comfortable.

    Right back at ya. My entire family was all Toyota when I was growing up, and everyone but me still is (for good reason!). When I needed a 4-door sedan, I just loved the driving feel of the Mazda 6 over the Camry, and have been with Mazda ever since. Toyota is absolutely killing it in pretty much every class of car, whether it's a last-forever truck or 4-Runner, or a fun and sporty GR Corolla or 86. They're one of the few big companies out there that never just cashed in on their reputation for a quick buck, and have continued to put out top tier products, and most importantly, they're focusing more on being FUN than just appliances lately.

    Strange. I bought my ND in October of '15, have got 101,000 miles on it. No squeaking fenders. Are you certain that is where the noise is coming from? I have replaced the stock brakes with Wilwoods from Flyin' Miata, the rear calipers didn't hold up to New Hampshire salted winter roads. Other than that it's just been oil changes and tires.

  • @3ducs
    @3ducsАй бұрын

    @@K.D.Torcque The rear subframe shows surface rust, I'm going to address that this summer. Otherwise it doesn't show any body rust. It does get exposed to salt but I hose it down once in a while and rain is expected for the next few days, I'll be driving it through that. The poor car gets abused. Summer tires/wheels are going on it soon, along with its semiannual oil change. I don't think my Jaguar F-Type has ever seen salt and my '06 Jaguar XJ8, despite being from Canada until this past February, shows no signs of salt corrosion. The Jaguars are all aluminum except for some subframes.

    The miata is wicked for the package. If anyone can cope with it's shortcomings as a daily driver, I am sure it would be a fun drive. That being said, I couldn't pay 45k CAD + taxes for a modern "sports" car that can't pass a transport on a mild grade.

    For sure! In hindsight buying a two year old ND2 might have been the better value, but I like new cars 🤷🏻‍♂️. As for passing, well I feel the ND does well. Sure, it’s not blistering fast, but I feel it moves quite well under its own power

    You should consider the GR86 versus the BRZ. The suspension on the GR86 is a bit different than the BRZ's so it ends up a bit stiffer - it would be somewhere between the Miata and BRZ as far as ride comfort. And yeah, I didn't like the extra engine sound in my first-gen (2016) BRZ so I removed the sound generator pipe and plugged the holes in the engine intake and cabin. That's the only mod I've done.
