Bluesbrother928 Cars and Travel

Initially the channel was just an easy way of access for my few Porsche 928 videos. Sadly this time is gone.

Later I used it to share some Seychelles clips.
And in 2021 I spent some more time on Adobe Premiere (In Covid times - I have more than enough time at hand) and wanted to share some of our wonderful experiences from Namibia.
And finally I could now also finish some of my Nordkapp videos from 2019.
More is in the queue like Marocco, and some Mini JCW videos.

    Wieviel Diesel habt ihr gebraucht von Opuwo über Marienfluss und Hartmanntal bis Puros? Und gibt es in Puros sicher Diesel?

  • @bluesbrother928
    @bluesbrother928Ай бұрын

    Das kann ich leider nicht exakt sagen. Der LC hat glaube ich einen 160 Liter Tank. In Puros haben wir 50 Liter bekommen. Viel mehr war nicht da. Hätten wir keinen Sprit bekommen hätten wir direkt nach Sesfontain fahren müssen. So hatten wir genug Reserve um durch den Hoarusib und die Giribes Plains fahren zu können. Diesel gab's seit Opuwo nur hier - und verlässlich ist das auch nicht (damals zumindestens)

    Besten Dank für dieses sehr schöne und Video. Wir kennen einen Teil Eurer Strecke von vor ein paar Jahren. Die new road von Ruacana nach Epupa Falls ist natürlich viel leichter zu fahren als die alte Strasse. Aber die old road war doch schöner! Welche Teile der old road sind nach Eurer Erfahrung noch befahrbar?

    Freut mich das es Dir gefällt. Wir haben nur einen kurzen Teil der old road versucht. Ich habe mich dann nicht wohl gefühlt weil zu nahe an den Dörfern. Und es macht einen Unterschied ob es die einzige Strasse ist wo man zwangsweise durchfährt, oder ob man augenscheinlich extra dort fährt. Aber wir haben dort am Fluss einen netten Typen getroffen der uns erzählte, das er vor hat eine campsite zu bauen. schön auch sowas zu sehen nicht nur "sweety sweety"

  • @bluesbrother928

    We decided to go on, because we felt unsure about the location. There were old signs for a campsite and we thought to support the people. But as we stop we saw a bunch of people with kids hurry through the riverbed to the place. We were not ready to spent the night with a "village experience". And we did not feel safe. So we drove on and found a perfect spot in a dry riverbed. But please let me know what your idea of desert camping is?

    Nice vid. We will be going to Walvis Bay soon and we will be renting a 4x4 car Toyota Hilux. We are 3 male adults. May I know do we need to get a permit to enter towards Sandwich Harbour? Saw the photo with a hanging sign by the road "Namib Naukluft Park Sandwich Harbour Permit Required. We are only experience drivers on the road. We know the risk, so perhaps will stop short at the junction where it become treacherous. Or you reckon we will not see much?

    Thank you, i am happy to share. You need a permit but am not sure if it is possible to get a private one. Every professional tour guide you will come across will stop and ask you if you have one. But be warned, check with your rental if they allow you to drive there, some cars have gps trackers nowadays. If it happens that you get stuck with no insurance.... and be sure to check the tide situation. Besides that: it is a real beautiful place, make sure to enjoy it!

    Hi , did you get to Sandwich Harbor by your own car or with a guide ? I plan to buy a permit to drive through the dunes in the SH area, but I'm not going to drive along the sea line... so I'm wondering if the route won't be too difficult to do it alone.... Regards Marek

  • @bluesbrother928
    @bluesbrother928 Жыл бұрын

    Hi Marek, I took the tour with Turnstone tours. If you can get the permit you are legally ok to drive with your own car. If you plan to have a rental I doubt that your rental company allowes you to drive there. But even if all is ok, i would not recommend it. Dune driving is not as easy as it looks. If you have a heavy bushcamper - forget it. If you have a car with mud tyres - forget it. If you manage to get stuck it will be a long struggle to get free again. The sand is treacherous. Permit ? Rental ? Not a heavy car? Tyres ? Tyres aired down ? Experience ? Than you can try. Otherwise i'll recommend a Tour Operator. I managed to get stuck in sand on pelican point with the landcruiser bushcamper ~3 ton. Took me a few hours to get rolling again...

    hi there ! I watched all your videos, really great job !!! I am planning a holiday ( 16 days ) in Namibia in May/June. I would also like to rent the same LandCruser model from Bushlore car hire. Can you advise if this model (same as yours) is a good choice? Did the car perform well in the field? Are the guys from the rental company worth recommending? Br Marek

  • @bluesbrother928
    @bluesbrother928 Жыл бұрын

    Hi Marek, The CruCam from Bushlore is based on the LC Series 79. The cars at Bushlore's are max. 3 years old. Ours had ~50k km on the clock and it was in perfect condition. But be aware the LC is basically an old car. The engine is a non turboed 6 cyl. 4 liter Diesel engine with 140PS. This sounds enough but the Crucam is quite heavy. Fluids alone are around 250kg diesel and water. On some steeper gravel roads at Kunene we had to go down to first gear. So it is not quite a sprinter. But! After a day or two I got used to it. And then I loved the engine sound and the natural aspirated engine characteristic. It has lot of torque at idle rpm. The single cab also is something you have to get used to it. There are not so much places to put stuff in the cockpit. But again - after some time we got used to it. Where it really shines is: the double fridge setup and electric design with solar and 3 batteries. We set one fridge to freezing for the meat and the other one to cooling for vegetables and beer :-). It has a built in inverter for charging your camera/drone/laptop batteries. Plenty of storage space inside the camper. Very conviniently arranged. And the popup roof top tent accessible from the inside. If you skip the porta potty (which we did) lots of place for firewood etc. Bushlore in Windhoek were perfect. Good communications, nice, friendly, they took time for the handover of the car. Even showed me in detail how to use the hilift - without getting injured! Would I rent the Crucam again? Yes absolutly ! For me the perfect compromise.
