U never showed how u put the 2 pieces together. I'm stuck 😂
I did this today for the very same reason. It worked, but I had to crush the old lighter to get it out. Good thing I purchased a new lighter along with the new bezel. I did not have to remove the armrest console to do this. Thanks for the guidance!
Why does every video start off with the mirror already removed? Show me how to do that part
Is this the same as a 2016 Yukon?
How do you take the face off
There are screws at the bottom and two friction clips at the top.
The Side pieces where he said the screws will be , you can yank on them and pull them back . because there's a screw in the front , but as it goes back , it's just clips . That will give you room to put leverage on both sides and use something to crank it
Hi give me visa
I have the same dryer but my drum sounds like its off track sometimes. Do I need to get another one?
I had a dryer do that once. It turned out to be a bad drum bearing in the back. It’s actually pretty easy to replace. But you have to be careful to clear power before working on it.
THANK YOU for leaving the camera rolling while you struggled with it. Too many times on YT i am watching to figure out how to get past a difficult step and the content creators edit out their struggles, skipping straight to: "this was really hard, but we finally got it out"
Glad it helped you. Exactly why I made the video. Hard to know if you are going to break it. Thanks for sharing feedback.
Can I remove just the lid? I got something stuck behind the lid of the ashtray and cannot get it to close
I want to see it done No way it comes off that easy I’m a grappler with a pretty good grip and couldn’t get it to budge. I guess I’m a 🐈
This made me laugh.
Title of video lacks car model, video opening sucks
Good suggestion. Opening could be a lot better.
Great video and very informative...! I have a 07 Ext Escalade and the mirror on the drivers side will fold in and out and the adjustment on the right to left works however the adjustment on the up and does nothing... any ideas?
Interesting. You might consider popping the actual mirror out and seeing if the up and down motor control is just a loose wire. If you get in there, it might be obvious. Pretty easy to pop out. Let me know how you do!
@@prestonppratt Thank you very much.. I will give that a look..
Did you watch all those springs fly off.😮LOL Good job!
I know you’re probably not gonna see this, but what color is that trim?
Hey, Ricardo. The trim color of the interior is dark brown. I believe they called it “cocoa.” Hope that helps.
Incredible performance Jackson!
My chronically online friend is there!!
my entire mirror is loose. not just the glass. im assuming its loose on the swivel part. how do you think i can tighten it? does it need to be tightened? whats wrong with it? ps: motor OCCASIONALLY collapses with the switch in the door. 95 percent of the time it doesnt shut
It’s very hard to tell without more detail, but if the entire mirror is loose, you might start by taking the glass off and looking to see if anything is broken on the interior, before you purchase and replace the whole mirror assembly.
My husband and I thank you! Watching you struggle too gave us confidence we were at least doing the right thing and BAM! Done deal! Whoooop
That is awesome!! Yeah, I see so many videos where they just pop it out, and I wanted to capture the struggle. Glad it helped you!
Hi my name is walter! And this video was so helpful thankyou! I need that for my passenger side.
Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing with me.
Can push close my power mirror
where do i get the mirror mount
The website and part number are listed in the description section of video. Good luck with your project!
@@prestonppratt thanks 👍
You are welcome.
FYI for viewers. The actuator screw size on mine was a T10. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
Awesome. Thank you for contributing to everyone that watches.
Thanks for posting this video. I was finally able to feel confident enough to take my unbroken driverside mirror off. The heating element wouldn't get power because of corrosion on the two terminals on the backside of the mirror. I was also needing to tighten up the mirror somehow and it was those 4 screws holding in the motor to the back plastic frame of the mirror housing, that were loose.
That is awesome! Glad it helped you. I appreciate you taking the time to post the comment. Makes me happy knowing you were successful.
@@prestonppratt no problem, I did notice you had your mirror folded back past resting point. Does your Escalade not have power folding mirrors? I figured that would mess up the gears if I would of pushed it back like yours was in the video. I only ask because my driver side mirror is a little slower than passenger side mirror when folding in and back out.
It does have power folding mirrors.
@@prestonppratt I found a video that explains pushing the mirror back like you did will reset them if the sprocket and motor were seated correctly if taken off previously. I'm waiting on the rain to finally let up for a day and I'm going to take the whole mirror assembly off so I can check the sprockets and placement of the little motor of the folding mirror. Once again thank you for posting this video.
I couldn't keep watching. His fake laugh is so annoying. Plus he doesn't even tell you what year and model his Escalade is
You and my wife have something in common! It was a 2013 Escalade. Thanks for the feedback.
Grabbing cantaloupe at the end
Thank ya!
Would have been good to start with removing the mirror...
Unfortunately, mine broke off, so there wasn’t an opportunity to show the disassemble portion.
@@prestonppratt Don’t worry about that guy Preston… Like me and many others, this video is very informational and is a great help so I want to thank you for that
@@thishandleisalreadytaken, thank you! I really appreciate the comments.
I been trying to buy this part from the GMparts but they will only sell me the whole assembly which is a bunch of crock. I hate this, i just need the same part you bought.
There are several other parts suppliers out there for you to try. It could just be an issue with the supply chain.
Well i was using the one you posted on the page above, not sure what is going on but the dealership wants over $400 to change everything out and i dont need the mirror replaced, just the part that holds it. @@prestonppratt
Wow, $400 is outrageous. You can change it out yourself. Look on the diagram for the mirror. You should be able to find the specific part you need. Find the drawing with parts. I am confident you can do it! I look forward to hearing back from you. Put a picture of your success on instagram and tag me @prestonppratt. I will be your accountability partner to get it done!
That is what i thought, still having trouble finding just the part but will keep trying to find a used one in a junkyard i can buy @@prestonppratt
I mean, I think most people can find instructions online. People come to YT for VIDEOS of the process.
Jesus Christ luvs us all 💜
What car
2013 Cadillac Escalade, but it's similar to other GM SUV's, like Suburban and Yukon.
I will only say the mirror doesn't come off extremely easy. FYI push or lift up toward to top of the mirror from one of the top corners to get it out and be patient and take your time.
fortunately for me mine just broke out when I hit the ditch ;)
2 weeks later, I’m still trying to get the mirror off 😡
The clips on my motor assembly are broke idk what part I need
I left links to parts in the description. You should be able to purchase the clips off the parts list.
Hi preston. I have a question regarding this dryer.
What’s your question?
Maybe if you weren’t vegan hahaha
Thanks
Thank you so much for the video every place I took this to told me I needed a whole new mirror assembly and you just showed me how to fix it for myself in 10 minutes with a $50 part
You are so welcome. I am glad you found it helpful and appreciate you sharing your story with me. Good luck on your project. Let me know how it goes.
I wonder why you would have to fix this I definitely didn’t have any part in why it broke
Yep, you did.
Nice camera work I wonder who did that he sounds really cool
Very nice camera work. The arm hair shot is the best. I also like snap, crackle, pop comment. Could you be the camera man? The world may never know.
i want more videos. love the channel
Probably needs some chipotle jr cooking videos.
Well I learned something new today
How did you get the old mirror off? Thx
The mirror has clips that snap in place. In the video, I put the new one in by getting it aligned and sliding it down. To get the mirror off, you slide it straight up. This will release the clips, and you can get it off.
💯 He almost looks like Richard Gere
I’ll take that.
For anyone having trouble with this method, I've found another technique which works very well and only requires a flat-head screwdriver and hammer. The Crescent Miniature Wire Cutter simply sheared off my rivets, perhaps because the 2020 version of this tool is sharper/harder than the one used in this video, or because the rivets in my MBP were made from a softer aluminum. Either way, read on for an alternative which was super easy and allowed me to remove every last rivet in under 10 minutes (except the ones I had already sheared with the wire cutters). Basically, you want to take a flat head screwdriver and position the tip at the base of the rivet. Orient the handle of the screwdriver such that it's as close to being perpendicular with the rivet as possible (imagine an uppercase "L" where the vertical part is the rivet and the horizontal part is the screwdriver). Then, give the handle a few successive hits with the hammer and the rivet should pop right out. Not much force should be necessary. You'll also need to place the laptop against a padded backstop to keep it from moving. Credit for the idea goes to the video below. However, unlike in this video, be sure to keep the screwdriver as close to perpendicular with the rivet for best results. Also, a big thank you to Preston for sharing his knowledge. Though it didn't work for me, it did lead me to a solution which did. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4is0siSYtHOdM4.html
Thanks for this. 10 tools later and this is the only solution that works for me!
Thanks and respect !
Wow all that has to be taken apart just to change the rear outlet, sheesh
I know. It’s a lot of work. If you give it a go, hope the video helps make it a little bit easier.
Thanks, atleast I have an idea of how to remove the outlet.
Great video!… Exactly what I needed…Thank You! You nailed it at the 1:35 mark… Reaching in behind the cupholder door allows you to pull upward in alignment with the friction clips. Even after getting the back ones out, I was still having a lot of trouble with the front (and I even eat meat… Not a vegan). :-) I came up with a way to do the same thing on the front two clips… I took a piece of rope, tied a knot in it, slipped it in behind the ashtray door, pulled it all the way over to the side, pushed the ashtray door closed against it to hold it in place, and then jerked sharply upward on the rope and the front corner friction clip popped right out (then did the other side).
Awesome. Glad you got it. That steak probably helped you beat a 1:35 mark! 😂
How does the old mirror come off ?
Later in the video, I put the mirror back in by pulling down on it to snap it back in. Use the opposite technique to take it off. Push up or try to slide the mirror up. It will free the clips, and you can get it out.
@@prestonppratt How do you replace the broken clips?
The clips are part of a plastic plate. You will have to order that new plate. I put a link the the website for parts previous. Hope this helps.
Where did you get the parts and what are they called. Basically the pieces you start with
Thanks for the comment RJ-Christine James. I updated the video notes to include the links to the parts. You can check there, but here is a cut and paste of the same information. Good luck with your repair. Here are some helpful links to the parts you will need to do the work: I ordered it from www.gmpartsstore.com. The part number is 25808705. Below is the hyperlink to the part on gmpartsstore domain. www.gmpartsstore.com/oem-parts/gm-mirror-motor-25808705 Please let me know if this works for you. I would love to hear about your success and how you are contributing to the learning community out there.
The schematics are not great, but If you search multiple websites for the parts, you will find they all use the same drawings. I have used them to order quite a few parts to make repairs and have never had an issue. Make sure you double check your vehicle model against what’s listed.
