    I just got the Pocket 3 a couple of months ago... aaaaand I might be getting a drone very soon too. For me it is about being able to capture different types of photos and video clips. A camera can capture certain shots, a drone captures very different shots. A camera can record video, but the Pocket 3 allows you to record stabilized handheld video for b-roll or a-roll. So they all serve a different purpose, they are different tools. Also I know for a fact that Thomas Heaton uses the Pocket 3, as does Gavin Hardcastle and Adam Gibbs... so they are using the lightweight, convenient tools too. FINALLY, I like the second to last photo the best... something about having both foreground and background interest and the diagonal lines. Thanks for sharing!

    Exciting! I agree they do all serve different purposes. At the moment, I’m slightly annoyed as I can’t shoot in d-log 10 bit on the pocket as my free version of DaVinci Resolve doesn’t support it, so that’s another upgrade I’ll be having to get. I’ll get there eventually haha

    Nice video, subscribed. Scotland is amazing! I've been using the M3P for the last year or so. I’ve done around 400km flying and I’m really happy with it (I got about 500GB of videos that I still haven’t bothered to edit yet lol). You mention around 1k£ for M3P, but I think that is price of M4P. The tips I can give are: Get some filters (I use Freewell mega pack). Especially when flying over water, the polarised ND filters are very good (or non-ND polarised filter if light is low). As others have mentioned, the choppy video might be due to slow SD card (I had same issue initially with some slow card I had). I use SanDisk Extreme card and it works really well. I shoot in D-Cine 4k30FPS most of the time since 4k60FPS is not "HQ". The HQ gives you better dynamic range as far as I know (so it's a tradeoff between having higher FPS or dynamic range). I use DaVinci Resolve to edit and colour grade, it's really easy and fast. In terms of battery, you definitely need the flymore kit that you've ordered. Realistically, I get about 20-25mins of flight time since you have to leave a bit of charge for emergencies. I usually leave the 3 way battery charger plugged into a power bank in my backpack so that it chargers the batteries in between the flying while I'm walking around (I've never had a situation where I had to wait for charging once I had 3 batteries). Another thing to watch out for is, make sure your home point is updated properly before flying off (otherwise it will have issues with RTH feature). Also, when you walk around after it's in the air, you need to update the home point manually so that it doesn't go back a long way away where you started your walk from if it loses signal etc. (signal loss due to interference etc. can also trigger this, not just RTH button). The apps I use are: UAV Forecast, Drone Assist and In My Airspace. In sport mode there is no collision detection. Also, some people have got caught out by the fact that there is no side collision detection. Then there's wind issues (always try to fly against the wind and then come back with a tailwind). Wind will eat up your battery faster than you expect and you might struggle to make it back due to low charge. Don't do what I did in one of my videos (link below - it nearly got blown away in a storm gust). Wind tends to be lower speed closer to the ground so fly low if you get into trouble. You can set RTH altitude slightly lower in windy conditions - but not too low that it will hit/get stuck on obstacles (you have to assess the RTH altitude for each location and conditions). kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2WGpdycYKfFqag.html

    Great stuff Liam. One word of advice. get an elastic hair band so it keeps your propellors tucked in safly and that way you wont break them when putting in your bag.

  • @LiamGalashan

    Great advice! At the moment, my fly more combo kit that arrived came with some sort of wrap around case. It’s quite a tight fit so I hope it doesn’t affect the propellers

    @@LiamGalashan I shoot in 24FPS but recently watched a video that suggested 30 FPS as it works better with most refresh rates on computers, phones etc. Saying that I use the fastest card available so cannot say whether the card is a problem or not. Filters will allow a lower shutter speed to suit your frame rate (typically double eg 30 FPS 1/60 shutter)

  • @LiamGalashan
    @LiamGalashan5 ай бұрын

    @@rogerdenrog yeah I’ve seen the same too. My SD card seems to be the fastest one I can get. Sandisk Extreme. I think my mistake could also have been in DaVinci Resolve where I edit the videos. My camera is at 24 frames while the drone is 30 so it will have affect the export I believe. It’s all a learning curve! Thanks for the comment

    @LiamGalashan6 ай бұрын

    Thank you! I would definitely recommend this drone, however you’ll have to consider the extra costs of more batteries and a good SD card. Refurbished is the best idea as long as it’s from a reputable seller or you are confident in buying from a second hand dealer on eBay. It ain’t cheap (at least I don’t think it is), but £500 can take you far with drones these days

    The drone footage is choppy due to not having any filters for the lens to decrease the shutter speed. Another excited purchase in the near future! Edit: SOLVED! Frame rate on DaVinci Resolve timeline was off. Main camera at 24fps and drone footage at 30fps

    You're not alone there, Liam. I did exactly the same thing loading my footage in to Cyberlink Powerdirector.😁New subscriber, loving the landscape.👍I'd suggest practicing hand launching/catching your drone (videos online) as your props will last longer. Take-off and landing can (depending on surface) throw up a lot of minute debris that can damage them over time.
