Rick Higgins

Rick Higgins

Hi, I'm Rick and I (usually) live in a bus. Yup, I'm one of "them". My passion is exploring life just outside of the proverbial box. Travel, adventure, wonder, and all that. (Yea, I'm a little bit ADHD and I kinda need constant stimulation).

But the problem is that I'm also a serious non-planner. I tend to wing things and just hope for the best. Which sometimes even works.

OK, maybe not as often as I want. 😇

But ... (and there's always a 'but') ... I'm not a trust fund baby. I quit my career to live on a fixed income because life is more important to me than money. Which means that I have to do this a little differently.

I gotta say, I have been to Croatia and Ive been to the USA, I ravelled both countries, I have to be honest and say, Croatia wins in every way, I didnt go budget, I stayed in nice places in both countries. I never saw a single homeless person or tent city in Croatia, in the USA I was gob smacked and in shock, poverty and homeless people in every city, filthy streets and very un safe. Croatia was clean and extremely safe one of the top 5 safest countries in the world. Croatia was just stunning, inland and along the coast, so much history. Come and see hostels here in Australia, you wouldnt stay a night

So basically what you got here is an old school, low budget vlog. Just me pointing my camera at myself and others, all while going about a unique part of my day. Would you like to see of this format? More out-take, cutting room floor kind of stuff? Or maybe … this is something you’d like me to just do more of in the main videos? As you might have noticed, I found two completely different cities only a short ferry ride apart. But there was one thing that remained the same in Croatia … the people. Oh my god, the incredible people. Regardless of location, the wonderful people of Croatia made it all so worthwhile. Copper. Cheap, OTC supplement. Ended 4 solid weeks of 24/7 excruciating total body pain. Took a few days to kick in. Months later another bout with the exact same excruciating pain. The pain and anxiety was so blinding that it took me 2 weeks to remember how I got through it the last time. Copper. Duh. Felt stupid for forgetting this. Took some and pain gone, almost overnight. May not work for you but worth the try. There’s a reason why copper is used to conduct electricity. Our personalities are different but we think alike. We both want to understand systems and how they work. You’re mostly there, information wise, regarding the wiring of your bus. Nervous system is very similar. Ponder upon the basic principles. It’s worth losing sleep over. You’ve got the basic wiring, the insulated covering, the actual energy going through it (coming from another source) and you’ve got the connections between intervals or changes of direction, etc. Any type of disturbance in any single part and “the 12 volt stuff starts flickering”…drives you crazy but the system still runs and you adapt, and adapt, until you can’t move. Anxiety is usually the first flicker and it is a double edged sword because it is a symptom of, and not the cause of, a different distress…be it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, environmental…but it is by itself so dammed distressing that it exponentially feeds upon itself, further depleting precious electrical energy, rather than allowing you to focus on the miraculous system that is trying to both get your attention and self correct. If you can relearn to respect and actually appreciate the first flicker of anxiety…learn to listen to it rather than suppress it…this one thing can change your Path in a better direction. I’ve also learned that fatigue is the flip side of the anxiety coin. Living in a desert, it was a game changer when I read that fatigue is a first symptom of dehydration. Who knew? I didn’t. But drinking wine or beer, or Gatorade…honestly no judgment, but do so in the appropriate inner and outer environment because they can cause, but certainly will worsen, dehydration. We all need a certain minimum of pure water and minerals and electrolytes for our system, electrical NERVOUS system, to conduct electricity and operate. Major principle. Think about it. Side note, especially if your main source of water is reverse osmosis or distilled water, if you buy bottled water, get and rotate among different sources of natural spring or mineral waters. They each have their good and bad minerals and by alternating them you automatically maintain a better balance. Another major principle. There’s more…there’s always more…but I am hoping that this much is enough to make a simple but blessed calibration to what sounds like an amazing life.

I may or may not be getting one of these shortly and would then prefer to primarily use it with solar. From the research I’ve been doing, the solar panels Bluetti offer in their deals aren’t the most efficient and are also not so practical for long term use (multiple years). I’m still learning my way around all the specifications and how I should go about what solar panels to go with. Does anyone have any experience with this product and could suggest what I should look into ? I would like to acquire as close to the full 2400 watt input through the 2 independent MPPT controllers as possible. Any help would be really appreciated !

You ran a man off the road, because you were angry. And you kept going didn't go back? Then you separated from your group? To give it gas to run away fast? I strongly believe you purposely ran that man off the road!!! And fled from your group as fast as you could!!! You ran from an accident kind of like? And you had no care in the world you were still mad. And your wife looks scared really scared? I think that needs to be investigated by the law

Alicante! Excellent. I passed through there several times while staying at Torrevieja. If you take the train to Valencia then to Barcelona, somewhere along the way you very quickly pass some Roman amphitheaters such as Amfiteatre de Tarragona. It's kind of cool tracking yourself on your phone gps and looking out the windows. (I know -- fun for nerds.)

Even stranger, I also read an article that listed half a dozen reasons why “Raw Dogging” on planes was unhealthy. Seriously. There are some who believe it’s detrimental to ones health to sit and contemplate great thoughts instead of doom-scrolling social media. For instance … they might be so deep in thought that they forget to drink anything, and somehow during that three hour flight they might become dehydrated. Yea … that’s the world now. LOL! We tried some local Mexican food restaurants in Spain. They were disgusting. It was probably influenced by the local palate because none of the foods in Spain were spicy. But to give you an idea of how bad it was, the table salsa was mostly ketchup and not even mildly spicy. Another disgusting restaurant was a Sushi restaurant run by Russians. The. Worst. Sushi. Ever.

Spain doesnt do spicy food, neither does Cuba or Puerto Rico, unless its an "Enchilado", as in Camarones enchilados....and even that is super mild, for us high Scofield level, lovers.

The bottle cap design in Spain is ingenious. I suppose that they don't do it in the States because one of the following: costs associated with retooling, it might impact recycling, there may be a politically driven backlash, and finally the old addage "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

  • @albirtarsha5370

The only time I went into Burger King in Spain was for a shake. They had this extremely unique flavor for limited time. I don't remember what it was. The taste was mindblowingly amazing. Other than that, I had a Big Mac in Paris just because I wanted to experience being a trashy American. It tasted like the American version but with even less flavor.
