    Don’t know if you’ll see this but awesome catches sweet spot! I’m going to the breeches first time this weekend. In a spot like that with heavy flows what fly are you fishing? I’m new and I couldn’t imagine me trying to nymph and watch my indicator when the water is that rough nice stuff!

    I’ve been fishing those exact streams for 20 years. Maybe I should make some videos. 24-29” fish every year.

    Have native brook trout in a stream running through my small town. It's so cool seeing how many are in there at times, never caught one cause the stream is small and covered in brush most places, I just scare them all away anytime I get close

    Hey Joseph! Glad you enjoy the videos my friend! 👊 Everything’s ok, life has just gotten very busy lately and have had no time at all to edit. Been getting a ton of fishing in, posting pics from my most recent adventures on Instagram and Facebook as of now. My issue is currently a lot of the places I’ve been fishing and exploring, I really don’t feel comfortable making videos at. It’s been so long since I’ve been to a popular stream everyone knows about. I love the adventure and thrill of finding places that are really on the down low, putting the time, effort, and research to find and locate the big fish I’ve been catching (specifically big wild brown trout in waters that aren’t protected and not known by many anglers), and really want to do these fish as well as the people who chase them a favor and not expose the trout that live in these special waters. I’ve mostly gone dark because I’ve recorded in some of these places in the past, and even though I didn’t post the name of the creek or any recognizable backgrounds, found people poaching fish at the streams I’ve been fishing and they told me they found out about the spots from my videos. Was very disappointing, because these wild and native fish populations mean the world to me, and unfortunately KZread combined with social media has exposed these fish. I may even start a podcast, but first need the time to do one. I’m thinking in the future since I can’t make full videos, just don’t have the time, can upload KZread shorts of short mini clips of me catching fish, or explaining how I’m fishing a run, and make sure the background isn’t visible. It’ll be tough, but that way can still make uploads and not worry about attracting the wrong crowds to some of these spots. I love sharing my experiences with others, but I really want to ensure to put the fish first before the views from now on. They mean too much to me, but hopefully can get some content up soon! If not definitely follow my Instagram or Facebook, always keeping that updated! 🤙🎣💦 Tight lines brother, and thanks for checking up on me!

    I understand what you are saying about the browns and I will admit they fight much harder however I come from a state where brook trout that had been there for 12000 years got pushed out by introduced browns only thanks to coservation there are few streams left brown trout are in almost every stream here now eating the native fish species despite the fact these trout are migrating wild trout they are not native I do believe there should be streams with non native rainbows and browns but there needs to be more native fish species protected

  • @Osnyfishingadventures
    @Osnyfishingadventures Жыл бұрын

    Hi Reid : ). Not sure why I didn’t mention it in this video, but I love native brook trout just as much as wild browns. We should do more to protect the native species we currently have left today, along with continuing to manage for the wild browns. The browns are here to stay whether you like it or not. No matter how hard you try to get rid of them, they are masters of adaptation and will continue to thrive and find a way to survive. We mise well manage for what we have. I do believe however that in headwater streams where wild browns have been introduced over native brook populations, we should be doing more to restore brook trout to the upper most sections of those watersheds. Our biggest issue is not migratory browns, but rather resident wild brown trout pops that are spin-offs of stocked brown trout from the state hatchery with inferior genetic traits resulting in them staying in one place, not moving, and gorging on brook trout and hence stunting the population ( meaning the wild fish adapt at a smaller size and due to a lack of food resulting from competition for shelter and spawning ground with stocked trout adapt to have a smaller requirement and adapt at a smaller size and not move. Let me explain further. I believe we can both agree the biggest issue not just in my state, but sounds like yours as well is the constant stocking over native and wild trout populations. Makes me sick to my stomach. The state needs to do more research on the impacts stocking over wild and native trout has. I’ve seen a brook trout stream go from all brooks to barely any left. When the brooks were there, each fall I’d see huge migratory wild browns run up from the river below this trib for spawn and the brook trout continued to thrive. As soon as PFBC came in and stocked their stupid brown trout over this population, it only took about 2 years for the brook population to be completely wiped out by introduced resident brown trout. Do migratory browns have some resident spin-offs? Absolutely, but through observing what I saw happen to that brook trout stream nearby, migratory fish aren’t the issue, the introduced stocked brown trout are. When stocked trout are raised, they are forced to stay in one place and are fed pellets each day. They don’t have to work for their food, since day one they’ve been trained to eat easy food right in front of them. I believe when these fish are introduced into brook trout watersheds, when they spawn and have resident spin-offs, they take on those same traits as the stocked brown trout at a hatchery. They don’t move and since they got a ton of brookies in front of them they end up gorging on them just like the pellets in a hatchery. I also know streams that crazy enough, in the lower sections have massive native brook trout and only have brown trout in the headwaters! This is due to the ph in the lower portion of the watershed being favorable to the brook trout, but not favorable for brown trout until the headwaters. Amazing how nature works. This watershed I’m referring to is a forgotten acid mine drainage stream ( like most are ) and untouched by humans for many decades recovering over time. Due to limestone sand and reclaimed AMD projects from local organizations, these streams are a true representation of what happens when stocking doesn’t occur and the native as well as wild trout population isn’t stunted. Stocking has its place, but that place shouldn’t be over native brook trout or any significant wild trout populations already established. They should stock in places wild and native trout can’t exist. Thank you for your comment! Appreciate your thoughts.

    Nice job Owen. I was up yesterday and there were about a half dozen risers up there in the ditch. Couldn’t get eats on a beetle despite the Japanese beetles in the shrubbery (though I did chum some up tossing beetles I’d picked off some leaves) but did manage a couple misses on ants. Hit the lower section by there on the way out to see if they’d reset and saw you start working that section so I left you to it. Hope you had some luck, that’s a very tough section

  • @Osnyfishingadventures
    @Osnyfishingadventures2 жыл бұрын

    Did pick up a few but they were tough! Slow bite, took me awhile to figure em out, but once I did landed about 5 or 6. Nothing huge but still fun neither the less! Lol out of all flies, they were taking a lively legs y2k! 🤣😭 no clue why, I just figured why not try it since I’ve never tried it in big spring, and the fish were really interested in it! I had a big bow eat it but turned away at the last second! Trout are weird hahha, like for example, the other day was fishing a local stream that I slammed the wild browns on with a y2k in the middle of a rainstorm! Didn’t land one rainbow, then about 2 weeks later I come back, waters much clearer, not one brown and all rainbows on the y2k 🤣 kind of ticked me off hahaha. Better than no fish though I guess!

  • @Osnyfishingadventures
    @Osnyfishingadventures2 жыл бұрын

    These are, but most of the places I fish now aren’t private. Back then didn’t know a lot of places away from private water. Theirs giant public water browns out there! Land a lot of em, just don’t record on those streams because as of now they don’t have a lot of pressure. Want to keep it that way, especially since most of those fish don’t have any regulations at all to protect them. Thanks for watching Ben!!! Yessir! That creek is a blast to fish, but don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon with the amount of big wild trout locally and closer to my area! Also costs way too much money to fish there. Lol was like 250 to fish per person just for one day! 🤣 and that’s was a discounted price since someone backed out of a spot!
