This is such an amazing take. There is a growing fatigue towards franchise movies, remakes, and regurgitated plots. Indie studios with unique and original themes are such a fresh breath. The fact that 'block buster-worthy' movies are no longer breaking even in profits should be enough of an indicator to large corporates that people grow tired of the same thing eventually.

don't forget, this assumes the trendy stuff you do is also good quality. If Ryan Reynolds pumped quick trash, it would stain his image more than anything, but people still love him because he knows how to do it

@@CalamityJay-ez2mq that sounds like a problem with capitalism as a whole, but again I'd go so far as to say one can subscribe to capitalism while still being a genuine asset to society 🤷

He doesn't hate cgi, he actually said himself that he likes it and his movies also won a lot of prices for there great cgi and vfx. And besides not using cgi in Oppenheimer he still made great use of visual effects. Spreading this missinformation really sucks and ends up in people hating on vfx. Some studios actually started lying about not using vfx and cgi, for example top gun and barbie both denied using it although having shots that are 100% cgi.

Sure, you're right. Hate is a strong hyperbolic word. But the rest is true. He prefers practical FX and only uses CGI when necessary and wants it to be accurate to the real world and invisible.
