I played this in high school (ca. 1969). This band plays it REALLY well. Going way beyond just getting the notes right.

Hey man, if you're ever in Genesee County, Michigan, you have to check out a Genesee Wind Symphony concert. The conductor Doug Burtch is a great guy and knows his stuff. And the members know their stuff too. They mainly consist of retired and current band directors and college students.

What coincidence! That was the year I played it in high school. We memorized it and played it in a several parades and at state concert competition. We never sounded that good but my memory might be a bit hazy since it’s been a while.
