Mother of 6 🤍 Homemaking 🤍Homesteading
Hi, I’m Justine …
I’m a homeschooling mother of 6 living in an old farmhouse on 15 acres in Ontario, Canada. On this channel I’ll be sharing everything traditional living from cooking, to tending to livestock, to gardening, to the everyday challenges of large family living on the farm.
I’d love for you to follow along!

Haven’t seen any new videos. Everything ok? Miss you n the family. God bless.
This sounds delicious!
Hahaha they really made the rounds (“ran errands”) 🤣
The baby looking at the camera is so adorable! 😂❤
Hi Justine, are you ok? Is the family ok? I assume you're very busy this time of the year. I miss your videos. I pray all is well and that you will be back soon. Be blessed friend.
On the Community tab it looks like she said she was taking some time off to focus on her garden! 😊
Love this bideo
It’s amazing to me that you consider these quick and simple meals. They seem elaborate compared to what I cook. Plus you have a bunch of little ones keeping you busy too. I love how varied your meals are too. You are a huge asset to your family!
What a precious family you have. I know exactly what you mean about the mittens!! And we also ate muffins and over easy eggs for breakfast this morning. Although I know you made this video several months ago 😅. God bless ❤
I’m happy to have found a new catholic homesteading channel!!
Love this!! Blessings to your sweet family from a USA neighbor! I love your calming videos, but most of all, the way you respond to unkind comments with grace.💜
Great job you did ❤ I mean the film content 😊
Thank you so much!
Always enjoy your videos!
I appreciate that! Thank you!

Mommy does this! 😂 That's me all the way with my little helpers❤
😂 it’s like they think they have the same skills as adults! 😂
Hello justine. I have been following you few months now. I am also a christian. I was wondering where in ontario did you & your hubby purchase your homestead? We are currently in georgetown, ontario. But we won't mind to buy a small farm with a farm house a little further away from here. We are looking something in ontario also, but not a huge section. Maybe around 5 to 10 acres the most. Because we have plans on getting a daìry cow, chickens for eggs and some for meat, goat, lamb and pigs. With the intention of selling the extra piglets once they are of age, same goes for the kids and lambs too, have another source of income. Plus the money would buy them hay and feed for the winter when we can"t put them out on the pasture. Plus we will be growing our own food to carry us out over winter until the next year harvest. Such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, peanuts, some white wheats, and fruit trees and berries, onions, garlic and all the herbs etc. Plus i want a greenhouse and a small high tunnel to grow fall & winter crops. How much is farms where or close to your area? And again where in ontario are you guys? Thanks in advance. Sabrina
We are in eastern Ontario and property here is pretty expensive at the moment although I’ve read that prices will go down a bit in the future. What helped us be able to purchase our 16 acres was purchasing a home that needed a lot of work. This house had no kitchen, no laundry room and no floors, for that reason it was not selling. We offered what we thought was a fair offer (100k under asking) and they took the offer. We have then been able to cash flow a lot of the renovations while still growing our homestead. It’s not for everyone as we’ve basically been living in a renovation for 3 years but we were able to purchase a property we could not have afforded if the home was in good condition.
Oh ok thank you for all that information. You did what you could afford and I would do the same too if I am even so lucky to find such a place. Maybe I might go the yurt way and rent a piece of farm land to put our yurt on, and eventually ask the farm owner to sell me the piece of land my yurt is on. For sure I would make sure to have enough land to have our own chicken coop, and a space for a barn for a cow and a pig and a goat and land for them to eat fresh grass every year. And the rest of the land would be a portion for our gardens & green house and few fruit trees. With that i would settle with it because the other ways are too expensive for my budget as a single mom of 2 girls. Thanks Sabrina
You are amazing! How do you find time for schooling?
I’ve always just prioritized school and all the other things come second. So I might not get the house cleaned one day, but at least I know school got done. I then use the time left after school (if there is any) to do all the other things. Hope that helps!
Rhubarb leaves make an excellent insecticide for the garden. Make a tea with them in a large pail and let set for a few days then use it to spray on the garden to kill off unwanted insects.
Love this! I will definitely be trying this out. Thank you for the tip!
Happy to see the grocery haul!!! Love watching the cheese making!!!♥️♥️♥️
Im so glad you enjoyed it 😊
Lovely video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!❤️
Hello Justine Great recipes just wondering its so hard to find great kitchen appliances in canada were did you get your electric stove???
We got it from Forno appliances. They are a little pricier than your typical stove but the company has been amazing to deal with. We had a couple issues and Forno was quick to respond and send out the replacement parts. I can’t recommend them enough.
Always look forward to your videos. You are living my dream! Question: Don’t you peel your rhubarb? Peeling it will make it more palatable. Especially later on in the growing season. The peel contains more oxalic acid than the rest of the stem. Love your recipes. Keep the videos coming ❤
Depends what I am using it for. I find in baking, I only do it if I’m not pressed for time but it usually softens considerably during the baking process. But I did not know about the oxalic acid so I might do it all the time now 😂
Hi Justine! Where do you get your rennet? I grew up in Ontario, but am now out west, and I've had a hard time finding rennet to purchase in Canada.
I get all my cheesemaking supplies from glengarry cheesemaking. The shipping is quite expensive so I always make sure to place larger orders so it’s worth it.
Funny enough I never had rhubarb until I moved to England almost 31 years ago. My mother in law made rhubarb pies with custard, but my favourite it apple and rhubarb crumble ( crisp). Soooo good! It’s fantastic with homemade custard and vanilla ice cream, or pouring cream over the top.
That sounds really good and I have lots of apples at the moment so I may just try it out today !
Always look forward to your videos! Such great recipes and ideas for meals. You work hard Mama! Well done. Put your feet up and rest a little. Val C ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you so much! 😊
Justine, indeed there is "beauty in the ordinary"! I appreciate you sharing some of your life, recipes, and grocery tips for us in Canada. Take a bit of time for you as you work very hard for your family.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I feel bad at how many comments pry into personal details for reasons that are not loving on channels like this that are producing supportive and pure content. These are glorious videos made w honesty and pure heart. Just love the submission to God and service to family that always exudes from your content.
Thank you! I appreciate the support 😊

Dont understand why you are wearing your baby on your back. Cooking, bending and gardening that baby cant sleep restful when you are moving all over. You gave birth all ready that the baby have some space cut the CORD .
Baby looked pretty relaxed to me! 😅
Well if you’re going to ask… It’s called attached parenting and it works. The back is safer than the front for many tasks. It’s proven as a method for healthy babies to feel secure and loved and develop positive neuro responses. Super sweet of you to worry about the kid you haven’t met and the mom that’s raised a good handle full though!
It’s ghosting my other comment. But seems like maybe the original post up there could watch a fun cat video and be a little happier?
@@caseytarnasky5224 if she trips outside getting vegetables maybe she'll think twice. Cooking a kitchen is safe .? What are talking about. That baby gets no rest that way
@marie3539 do you even have kids? If you do, then you'd understand that the only way to be productive is by wearing babies. People have done it for thousands of years.
First time I have seen cottage cheese made. No have done yogurt in my slow cooker before and had no idea how easy to go on to cottage cheese.
Yes it so simple! I left the recipe in the description if you want to give it a try 😊
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed watching how you make cheeses. The irises are lovely and purple is such a beautiful color. The pasta soup/bowl looks great - will try. Have a blessed week during the month of The Sacred Heart🙏
Thanks so much 😊
Hi Justine, I love the dress you were wearing. It's so pretty. It looks very comfy and looked great on you. That soup looks so good. You have a great week.
Thank you for the lovely compliment. I hope you have a great week as well.
You're always busy. Just wandering if your husband is able to help you or does he work outside the home?
My husband works outside the home so it is just the kids and I weekdays. He does help out a lot when he gets home in the evening as well as during the weekends.
@@TheSacredHeartHomesteadexactly the way it should be. Keep up the great work mama.
Love your recipe for the chocolate milk! I'm going to make it. Store bought is just not what I remember as a child. Loved the video!
So glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Rhubarb jelly.... My mother always made it and it is one of my children's favorite! Just plain red rhubarb... Its a beautiful red jelly... so not sure what a green rhubarb jelly would look like! I place my stalks in a steam juice, as if I were steaming grapes, and extract the juice, then use it to make a jelly. Green rhubarb Could be fun! Also mine enjoy a rhubarb strawberry pie. I love my rhubarb patch!!
Thank you for the tips! Will for sure be trying these!
Great video Justine.
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for another lovely video, Justine! Could you please let me know what kind of water filtration you use? I see the large metal container on your counter and was curious. We are looking to do away with plastic water bottles but are not sure what to use. Thank you, and God bless! ❤
We use a berkey water filter and are pretty happy with it. We are on well water and I find it does a good job filtering. I would not recommend it for filtering out fluoride however if that is what you are looking for.
@@TheSacredHeartHomestead Thank you. I will look into this filter system. I never thought about the fluoride. I think I would prefer not to have it. We never have drank water with fluoride. I have heard it is not too healthy. Thank you for your reply! 😊
Thank you so much for such a wonderful video ! I’ve just found your channel and cannot wait for future videos ☺️ Pax Tecum🙏🏾
So glad you found me! Thank you for the kind words 😊
Some great suggestions here
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
👍
This was very pretty, and inspiring, thank you! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Justine, you are growing so many wonderful things on your homestead but the most important one is faith!
Thank you, that’s so kind of you to say.
If anyone is looking for Catholic resources for teaching your kids my favorite has been the religion series by Fr. John Laux published by Tan. It's amazing- it's simple, precise, and just packed full of gold. It's written for high schoolers but if you go through it together you can use it for middle school (I went through some of it with my 5th grader for confirmation prep) hands down amazing. The Dominican sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist have really great info on virtues (kind of like the Summa lite for kids😂) . Makes for great dinner conversations about virtues and vices!!
Thank you for the great suggestions! I’ll for sure be looking into these.
Well that was wonderful! I myself was not catechized till I was 47! I read the Baltimore catechism at that time too! You are absolutely correct our parents thought we were getting this at school! God bless you and your family!
Also nothing more beautiful than watching a family praying the rosary together!
Thank you! I’m so glad you were able to get properly catechized even though it was later on.
