    The team should be much better this year, especially if camp goes well. The recent additions add more needed veteran leadership and depth, the younger guys like Klevin, Ostapchuk and Greig are growing into NHL players, Better to potentially Much better goaltending, and Green bringing a fresh and more demanding coaching style to the table should make for an exciting season for this team. Personally I think they should move Norris to the wing and use him as more of a speedy shooter. With his shoulder issues, taking draws as a center makes little sense especially when they have good centers in Giroux, Pinto, and decent guys in Tkachuk, Greig, Stutzle and even Batherson able to play the position.

    The Oilers had their own decade-of-darkness that ended, coincidentally, with a playoff appearance in the same season as the last Sens' such appearance. The Sens are just 3 seasons away from a repeat of what happened to those Oilers.

    The ol' "stay competitive as you retool" strategy; the surest way to commit serious Cup competitiveness suicide in the NHL (see: Vancouver Canucks). I hope Ullmark can make his mark; he seemed lost in Boston last season, having his #1 status taken by Swayman. Looking for a great recovery by him, thus leading The Sens ("It starts from the net out", a wise GM once said) to a lot more wins.

    Ullmark also had good numbers in Buffalo when they were the worst team in the NHL. Jacques Martin was brought in last year to instill playing away from the puck, the 200-ft game. Travis Green is a similar type coach so their defensive play should continue to improve. They added a solid RD in Jensen and 2 veterans who play the right way. Ullmark should be solid in net. But you are right as far as expectations are concerned. As a Sens fan, I expect them to be a bubble team fighting for a playoff spot but I am impressed with what Staois managed to accomplish in one off-season. He may be a rookie GM in the NHL, but he seems to know what he's doing.

    Your take on Giroux couldn't be farther than the truth. He came here because he wanted to be closer to home and to be a veteran presence for this team. There was no expectation to win the cup. I'm not saying he wouldn't want to win the cup but I don't think it's his biggest motivation anymore.

  • @SNHockeyyoutube
    @SNHockeyyoutube16 күн бұрын

    @@christophercharles3169 I agree that he wanted to come to be closer to home etc etc. But he also mentioned that the direction of the team was a big factor in choosing Ottawa. When DeBrincat was brought in ahead of the draft, Giroux said that was important for him to see because it showed the team was committed to turning the corner into competing. As a Sens fan myself, I hate even thinking about the possibility of Giroux asking for a trade. But I don’t know, I just feel like another losing season might be his breaking point. I really hope that I am wrong, and I hope we don’t even have that scenario on our hands.

    @@SNHockeyyoutubeGiroux would be a great fit in Pittsburgh. I know it would be funny to see but his skill set even at this age v Would fit nicely with the Penguins. He could be his own Center as he's good on faceoffs. Also put him with Sid on the wing and I'm sure they could connect. Giroux is a smart player and still good on the PP on the left side. Great video, the sombre background music is very appropriate. I have been a Sens fan since Day 1 and will always be. I cringed every time Dorion traded away the future for dubious stars now look where that's got them. For the most part I’ve liked the moves that Staios has made. Obviously his hands were tied with Joseph and Tarasenko, but aside from that they’ve made sense. The first 20 games will be massive for this group, for like the third straight season.

    Staios once upon a time was a defenceman and is a 2006 Stanley Cup finalist as the Oilers' team for which he'd then been playing made it that far. Yes the Oilers lost that Cup final but just MAKING it there was an accomplishment in itself. The Sens, among them, Canucks, Flames, Oilers and Winnipeg Jets (the expansion Canadian teams), have, if time the Jets' team founded in Atlanta is, not counting the 2004-05 NHL lockout: - included, the 3rd-longest Cup appearance drought at 17 seasons to the Jets' 24 - excluded (with the Jets' having relocated to Winnipeg in June 2011), the 2nd-longest Cup appearance drought, behind only the Flames' 19 but no doubt ahead of the Canucks' and Jets' 13 seasons (with the Oilers' having last appeared in a Cup final only last month)

    3:16 I disagree with this statement. First of all, when you live in colder climates, your physiology acclimates. Second of all, when you play outdoors, you generally feel cold for about 3-4 minutes before your body temp rises due to your physical activity. This is one of the main reasons I always loved outdoor hockey. You can actually play for hours and hours without getting overheated. Overheating causes exhaustion. You show up in your parka, and before long your peeling layers off until you have a jersey over your hoodie, and you’re just cruizin. Good times and great memories bud

    Forgot Skinner in mock lines haha. I think the Oilers go with: Skinner - McDavid - Hyman (Skinner gives McDavid a pure sniper option, while Hyman provides the power forward option, both of which are proven to have the most success paired with McDavid) RNH - Draisaitl - Arvidsson (essentially the spiritual successor to the line with Yamamoto only Arvidsson is the same player as Yams just 2x better at least) Kane/Holloway - Henrique - Perry/Savoie (this is either the grinder line with Perry in, or it's legitimately a 1st line on the Ducks with Savoie in. Depends on which type of style the team wants.Also depends on Kane's health on whether or not Holloway is here or 4C) Fourth line is Janmark - Ryan/Holloway - Brown (you absolutely keep janmark and Brown together, and then whoever for 4C between Ryan and some of the Bakersfield prospects) Defense you nailed though. Ceci probably traded and Brown as the 3RD. Or kulak traded, Broberg 3LD, and we go another regular season with Nurse - Ceci til TDL

    How do you expect to be taken seriously when you mention players that turn around NHL franchises and you offer up Bedard as an example? He's played one season, sure he won the Calder, but he hasn't turned around anything in Chicago. They still finished dead last in their division and were still one of the worst in the league. Ovechkin doesn't even get mentioned when he carried the Caps to a Cup, and in his twilight, he's two seasons away from breaking Gretzky's unbreakable record. I get that McKenna is related to Bedard, but you could just mention him instead of implying that he's changed Chicago's fortunes. I would even talk about Matthews before Bedard. You should also not call your channel SN Hockey as it represents that Sports Net are the content creators.

    Took wayyyy too much time out of your day to rip someone with 100 subscribers. Per this comment it’s very clear you use the wrong instrument to speak far too often. Bedard, McKenna, Crosby, Ovechkin, are what the hockey world call “Generational Talents” who are likened to players like “Matthews” (very good), who make significant impacts. This guy isn’t the first person to say that a player would turn around a franchise….pump the brakes keyboard warrior. No one has harmed you. • @mountainsmelodies4096
    @mountainsmelodies409621 күн бұрын

    Dumb take. Chicago literally gutted their entire roster before selecting Bedard. They're in year 1 of their rebuild and management's goal was not to be a playoff team this past year. Selecting Bedard only speeds up the process of building a championship caliber team. How many great players did Toronto or Pittsburgh have to complement Matthews and Crosby, respectively? McDavid is indisputably the best player in the NHL right now and he hasn't won a championship. As a Calgarian, I hope McKenna comes here. The Flames sure have had a rough go of it these last few years and have never drafted higher than 4th overall in the franchise's history. With a new arena currently being built, maybe the NHL will rig the draft in our favor *fingers crossed*. Since many top players seem to be fleeing Canada for low tax states, beaches and minimal fan pressure it feels like a Canadian team will never again win a Stanley Cup, which is BS considering we produce more NHL players than any other country.
