I make gameplay videos with the goal of introducing people to interesting new games and helping people get better at the games they already love. I play a lot of strategy games, especially 4X games in the style of Civilization or Amplitude's Endless series, but I also play a lot of other interesting stuff. If you're new here make sure to check out the playlists page; you might discover some really great games you missed!
The inksplattery font I often use for my headers and title images is Requiem by Christopher Hansen, which can be found here: www.dafont.com/requiem.font

This has such a fun aesthetic! The time constraints and alarms seem super stressful to start with, but as you play and learn how to do the tasks it gets easier. Really neat game, it's got a lot of fun polish. I'd be down to see more of this when it gets released~
Some of these conversations would have been much more tolerable when they were just text logs.
Installing civ again to scratch an itch I had forgotten I have
tbh, this looks like a nightmare, but it was a fun watch
The achievement sound in these DLC videos has been quite loud, I hope you do get it turned down for the last one!
If you ever go back and check out the Heroes of Might and Magic series, that's how movement worked there (at least up to HoMM3). The movement of the army was that of the slowest unit in it, sometimes with an amount added by the leader's skills or magic items.

Yes! I've been looking forward to this one.
"This is only the beginning." "I know you are, but what am i?"
At the end of the course you should show her Mandalore's video on Alpha Centauri. I think she'll love the story driven aspect.
I'm hoping you introduce her to Humankind soon. Been hoping for you all to revisit that game.
Babylon was a weird draw for an introduction to civ. It's a fun way to screw with the mechanics of the game though.
I was just listening to SB saying, "If you have good stuff...just go to the good stuff." And yet, this isn't an endless series. We could be watching Amabel play Endless Space right now.
I liked the original Alan Wake and have liked this type of game in general for years, but I bounced off this sequel. I kept at it for a good ~8-10 hours, but ultimately had to concede that it was (imo) vastly overrated. It's a perfect game for me to watch someone else play instead, so I'm glad you're tackling it. And for your sake, I hope you like it more than I did.
No diplomatic victory?
I think some of the weird civ shit, particularly the zero sum element, makes more sense when you consider that the first game came out in 1991 and is cold war adjacent.
Anabel running into weird shit in civ is going to be great by itself, but I'm looking forward to her game designer side being allowed to run free.
I am now eagerly awaiting this series to get tooEndless Legend and Space
Ever since Amplitude announced their community balance patch/mod for Endless Space 2, I have been jumping at the bit for Samhain to start ES2 up again
More endless Legend pls
Bihgli not a great person but he was a great character. Really interesting.
Rocket rat and Klei comes to mind. I like it!
There is also the hand he had in freeing the Rana, which lead to the dragon uprising.
That's a great analysis. Unfortunately, I think the writers aren't actually aware of that angle.
The chaos inside him is the chaos essence, he starts with chaos level 1. So it's less about his character writing and more about a game mechanic, however you want to feel about that. I really like your take on the legend/song not reflecting the story as told to us. I think what you'll continue to see with the Loth Campaign is that a lot of the story is intertwined and a lot of different people set out to do good and end up making things worse for those around them. I wouldn't expect the character writing to get much better though haha
That was Amazing. Rose is the best 😊
Spoilers about Nimader - you can get Nimader up there. That blue portal is opened up by a rana attack (or it was for me you might have beaten them a little too fast) and he can take it up. nevermind just saw that it got opened up for you too lol
It looks like it might have been a fun game in single map modes, but I've got to admit the campaigns kind of ruined it all for me. They almost always made factions and people seem either very foolish or insane, and now I don't see the mechanics, I just see the awful politics. I get that the evil empire is evil, pretty much all empires are, but Barya... Barya is just so offensive to me in so many ways.
I love good voice acting but the "director's cut" edition or whatever is just a huge argument against fully voiced games in general. The narrator's performance is quite good and there hasn't been a single instance so far where that makes the game better than the original. And then there's this fuckin' guy.
A huge argument for fully voicing this game is all the people that started playing this game because they wouldn't have to read as much.
Not every libertarian sounds like idiot doom spiral, but everyone with a voice like that always seems to be a libertarian. I think it's because they were all raised upper middle class or higher and spent their lives being told they were smart and smart people succeed in life? It's such a specific voice.
Pitch perfect startup wanker who talks about how the blockchain will save the world with the passion of 13 year old me explaining why Piccolo is stronger than Vegeta
35:46 Another poor shadow creature gets ignored. 54:20 Are we sure those settlers actually have still technicians and other people needed to run their station/habitat around and are not just putting up the semblance of "everything is alright!" out of pride and shame, and for the same reason are too not asking for help?
Yay! Onward to the undead!!!
Damn this is the best depiction of a fanfic I've ever seen
high-risk zone signal decoders can be purchased from a Prescot dealer, of course, it is better to go through the red risk zones, there are more valuable items in them

I knew this would be on this channel the moment I saw the announcement.
Ah! Research Department for Extinct Extraterrestrial Monuments = RDEEM = Redeemers 05:50 You have Consumables (similar to the 1st game) that repair systems aside from just the various Nano-things for the ship hull. (You even have at least 2 of them in your inventory, the pyramid things with the green display at their bottom. This kind of stuff makes me question how much you played the 1st Everspace, as going in the ship menu to go and craft the various items was such a big deal for the harder runs, in my experience, that even years later it sticks out in my gaming memories.) Thermo guns should be partially seeking.
42:30 As HIVE mentioned a couple of times "Your level of denial is breathtaking." 01:26:30 No memory of an attempt to free some woman's father between those pillars? No? What a shame. That was some heroic stuff of space legends with weird alien space magic weapons and all that jazz. 01:28:17 WTF? 😮 Ok, yeah maybe don't do that yourself.
45:33 The Catalyst you got probably is for missiles or weapons in general but you were only looking in your Crafting section not at the modify an actual weapon to apply a Catalyst that you might have in your inventory somewhere.
35:25 That was just a slugging match about who can throw the most rockets. 😂
01:00:35 HIVE: "You are registering a higher than average blood pressure." Adam: "Yeah, HIVE... this is nerve-wrecking." Holy Hells, the guy constantly in space combat is more stressed from impersonating someone than being shot at. 01:16:00 What could perhaps make this easier is that at least in space (in the 1st game) if you shot normal (non-bulletproof) containers like these they spill out their content while the container itself drifts away from their normally locked position. 01:19:24 That mechanism was designed by that Worthy Vault guy, either after he started his business, or this is one of the rare ones he did before he chose to become the premiere vault lock designer.
04:10 These conversations about HIVE and how much he can change or be changed and is not just a programme or even "simply" being sentient but full-on sapient, aside from exploring and explaining the normal ethical stuff about AI and personhood, could also be seen as certainly leaning towards the transgender arguments/conversation/debate, so I find it weird that you would find this tiny bit of dialogue that serves to nudge people into thinking a bit more of "what you want others to be like to make yourself more comfortable and how much are you forcing your self ascribed values onto others", this works both for normal relationships towards strangers or your family/significant other. The game/devs/writers: Adam had gone and asked HIVE to change parts of himself to make Adam happier. Dear Player, how do you feel about this? What if Adam asked HIVE to change even more of himself/itself for Adam's happiness/amusement? HIVE explains that he/it is a fully sapient being capable of not just thought but full-on emotions does this change your perceived notion of what Adam should be allowed to ask of HIVE and what their relationship looks like? This game has a 12+ age rating in Germany and this approach to get someone to start perhaps asking others and especially themselves what the ramifications of sapient AI and such seems more than valid. Adam is naive similar to a kid as despite him having a bunch of memories of experiences, he has only been actually alive for a short time making him a viable stand-in for less sci-fi and psychology/ethic-savvy players. 55:10 I honestly don't see Adam being good at anything other than get in trouble and shooting his way out. What other thing is he good at, being naive enough to come over as trustworthy? Does that count as something he is actually good at? 31:13 Another bit of dialogue that could fit in this area. 38:20 Losing the inertial dampener in the 1st game was always fun when you did not pay attention and were running from something to go hide in an asteroid or wreck. 😅 01:05:15 I think this whole thing is just a way to remind people that downloading "cheap" software from non-official sources can lead to serious problems.😂
13:42 Ah, the time-honoured tradition among gamers to complain about the enemies being also able to use consumables just like you as the player can do.
50:47 HIVE: "Your level of denial is breathtaking." Everyone: "Why, thank you!" 52:14 Oh for crying out loud SB, perhaps eat before recording and if need be consume your favourite succulent tome of words, too. That is truly being snobbish and prejudiced and self-reinforced dislike towards the game's dialogues. 01:09:55 Your reason to go back to the Homebase is that you have the doctor there and she wants you to fly her out of the DMZ once you can do so, also your kind of bestie Ben is still there without a ship, so far as we know.
44:24 Elek forgot about Carlos? Who could ever forget about Carlos, beautiful Carlos(, Cecil's favourite scientist ever)!
I'm disappointed that you haven't ended Pebble's or atleast Moon's suffering, since you were at Moon with that awesome power you got...
05:47 Perfect timing SB: "The enemies are not even hitting us hard enough to drop our shields." *3 seconds later: shields down and running for her life HIVE: "You are coping admirably, I must say."
54:35 "Dud! He was lomb." Yeah HIVE buddy, I am with you on that. 59:30 Have you ever played any RPG game or watched any TV series or movie? The whole banter before a fight, stop during some stuff you could be doing to talk, not talking during the drive/flight there only to then have the important talk out in the open after pulling up somewhere pivotal and never using radio/cellphones. This is everywhere in the media. In games, I can still excuse it, but watching any TV or movie is so hard if it is set in modern or sci-fi times and doesn't make actual use of those things. I think the only games where stuff like this was handled really good, that I can recall, was the Halo trilogy. There they had the sit-rep talks on the way to the missions or got caught up during and if they could not use telecommunications then there always was a very good reason for it.
Hands are the real enemy.
52:34 SB, I don't get your problem with Adam, and also in the 1st game, he did have the ship AI to banter with while you know constantly fighting for his life either directly or by way of his body continuing to degrade on him. 01:14:00 That looks very Decepticon aka pretty cool.
Kim...the best NPC ever!
That nuke around 1:22.00 with the triple? kill had me laughing out loud. Thanks! Best crafted weapon by far. That bomber is a keeper if only for that normally 10 charge nuke spam with the perfect passive.
