Great video, I'm rehearsing for my own "vent heaven" tear down. I've subbed, I have an '84 C20 and it's been a slow methodical rebirth. Thanks a lot for this!

I'm finished, after the first one, it actually became easier once I knew what to expect. I used a can of silicone, just a bit it really tight spots and that helped a lot. The latches go on today and then all of it goes back into the body of the truck and I do the rest of the rubber around the windows.

Hey there, is your rig carburated? If so how reliable is it overlanding?

It’s a diesel (6.2L). It’s been plenty reliable! The trouble I had drive train wise was my transmission had to be rebuilt like 4 times (mostly due to the shop being incompetent) I did have an NP208 blow up on me. To some extent it’s the luck of the draw this these things

I built my own flips for my 1ton and pull the 9500lb dustless media blasting system and a full pallet of media with no problems. Ord equipment is stout too I’m sure they are being honest too.

All these idiots thinking a candle loosened the nut. 🤣🤣🤣. It’s the heat that broke the rust loose by making the metal expand. If you don’t know this please get some common knowledge.

For anyone struggling with this if you look closely his tumbler is gutted. There is a feature on the tumbler that retracts when a key is inserted that allows it to rotate. I had to drill mine out in the end.. the new key wouldn't retract that feature.

Those "shackles" are tie downs and they will pull right off the truck.... and snap off. Get a mount plate and do it correctly. The only reason those are on the truck are to tie it down during transport they are NOT tow shackles and using them like this is dangerous. In fact the mount plate you bought from HF can be trimmed down to mount prperly on the frame AND be hidden behind the bumper... instead of this dangerous nonsense.

My dad put a Clark 5 speed transmission behind a 453 Detroit it was I think a 77 banaza, one ton. Everybody ask why it could pull anything and outrun them. He had a two speed rear-end.

I keyed in on the lock replacement. Your explanation is the best one, by far, that I've seen on YT. The company that I bought my part from told me that I'm on my own as to how it all goes together. Mine did come with 2 springs which tripped me up. One bit of advice, start the roll pin into the hole before you start the assembly, it just makes it much easier to hammer it in. Thank you for the vid!
