  She was a well known traveler from the Wolf clan. And she traveled to my people's territory in southern Delaware. It's her cultural authority that I trust on wolf clan systems and origins going back to the Wolf Clan origins of Munsi/Munsee. Her name is known for her good deeds in many communities. ❤

  My 10th great grand uncle, Sir Thomas Egerton, 1st Viscount Brackley, was one of the proprietor merchants, and members of Parlaiment who helped fund the purchase of the Saybrook Colony. My other 10th great uncles, John Egerton and Patricke Egerton were shipping massive amounts of tobacco from Virginia back to England. My 9th great grandfather, Richard Edgerton, fought at Fort Mistick and at fort Saybrook. He was living in Saybrook when he married my 9th great grandma, Mary Sylvester, and had their first 3 kids. Then, they were one the first 35 families in Norwich. Richard served as Constable on at least one occasion. His name is on Founders Monument in Post and Gager cemetery. John Post's property was right next door to Richard Edgerton's. My 8th great grandfather Samuel married William Bradford's granddaughter, Alice Ripley (daughter of Major Joshua Ripley and Dr. Hannah Bradford.) Samuel and Alice would become two of the first Quakers in Connecticut. Richard and Mary had 9 children, who each had families, who each had families, and all married other Norwich descendants. I have a 4th great grand-aunt Mary Edgerton who married a John Leffingwell. I am descended from Myles Standish - Hired to lead Plymouth Colony militia. James Norton Pease - a first Settler of Edgartown, Dukes Province, Massachusetts Bay, New England, progenitor of numerous ministers. He had a descendant living in Norwich. Other First Norwich Proprietors I'm descended from •Dr. Samuel Abell - 8th great grandfather •John Tracy 6th great grandfather •Margaret Hyde 6th great grandmother There are other names in my tree like Baker, White, Brown, Smith, Carter, Reynolds, more than I can list. I've lived my entire life in Washington and Oregon. I'm 45 now. I have zero reason for knowing anything about anyone on the East coast save for the fact that I have put that much time, money and effort into finding out. It started out of mere curiosity to find out general nationality. But I soon learned that there really is no such thing as nationality. All there is, is history, and it requires all of it to make a picture complete! For years, Uncas has been one of the few people in history I would most want to go back in time to meet. This video helps complete the picture. Thank you. 🙏

  I'm in my seventies 2024 and I saw the movie Fighting Sullivans on TV while in my teens. I always remember the scene of the boys climbing the ladder to wave to their father conductor played by Thomas Mitchell leaving the yard on the caboose. In this video clip you see a young Ward Bond the Commander delivering the sad news family loss. The delay for searching for survivors no excuse although reported for days. Didn't know about the brothers Rogers or shortage of men for the Navy as the reason why they kept the 2 sets of brothers is another thing. Hiding the total report for years no excuse. Just found out that the Navy enlisted a mess steward Rubin MacNiel Raiford 13 years old who died in the sinking of sub USS Tang in 1944. I have Mr. Kurzman's book for over twenty years because of the movie the Fighting Sullivans and tears came to my eyes again. Life SMH. There is a navy ship named after the Sullivans Boys that needs attention I believe in the Buffalo area.

  Love seeing Pete Seeger standing next to a guy in a tuxedo. I remember thinking at the time that losing Chapin at the start of the Reagan Era was just a brutal kick to the gut.

  They seem to be confusing the Mohegan tribe with the Mohican tribe. The Mohegan tribe was in Connecticut. The Mohicans were in NY Hudson Valley.

  I've been watching a recording of this concert since I was a kid and never stopped loving it. There is so much to take away from these songs and how much it has touched so many lives. Harry Chapin was a true gift to the world and I think all song writers would benefit from watching this. He was truly inspired and so good hearted. Thanks for posting this gem!

  Thank you so much for sharing this!! Mikki is my paternal grandmother and this was a joy to watch, it definitely brings back memories of working Pow Wow's with her, my entire family & Sherman. Mikki was an incredible woman whom taught myself and others with a proud fire in her soul. Mikki sadly passed away on January 9th 2024, peacefully in her sleep. I had the pleasure of a last visit with her on this past New Year's Day. As her eldest granddaughter the loss of her is felt deeply. This video is a treasure for all who see it. I'm proud to say that I had the opportunity to work & live our heritage, our traditions, along side her. Rest in Peace Grandma Mikki 🕊️

  I've been going through some really difficult times. Every nice and pull out my phone, I did it when I was in the hospital almost 60 days and I do it now at home. I listen to his music, sometimes for hours, and start to feel better. To feel like myself. Somehow it takes some of the pain away

  At 7.08 it is stated that the US column proceeded "without benefit of radar." This is not true. Several ships had radar, and USS Helena probably had one the best sets and also had experience using it in the earlier battle of Cape Esperance. The whole battle was a major disaster...but they prevented the bombardment of Henderson Field and possibly saved the entire campaign. Also, Juneau had her keel broken by a torpedo hit during the battle and was not in good shape when the Japanese submarine scored the fatal torpedo hit on her. Rest in peace.

  i saw Mr. Chapin twice in Milwaukee during college; 1st at campus theater; very gracious after performance out in lobby soliciting food donations; 2nd at downtown PAC; his son (Josh/Joshua) flowers are purple rendition; love ms. benetar's tribute; i believe that we should have more renditions by the opposite sex (i.e. true companion); now, i believe that someone can turn this into a song: A Knock Upon The Door To Marquette in Seventy Four Unaware of what he had in store -- initial fears of freshman year An acquaintance for him to find Would give to him some peace of mind Four years past Out at last Of experiences he does reflect -- few friends from acquaintances does he detect Who or what is to take the blame Why the relations stayed the same Several reasons point back to he And the man in life he chose to be -- Nature or Structure -- he has yet to see At this point when he walks the street Upon an acquaintance he does meet With respect, assuredly, he does greet Seldom more will he converse Which to many appears perverse When questioned of the limited talk -- In Past, Present, or Future walks His intention is to reply -- (but not until the day he die) "At the start of each relation, I knew my place -- but thought it important to move beyond the face "To try to enter the world of yours And move beyond the primary floor -- No avail, no answer at the door" -- Patrick McMillian ([email protected])

  I loved Harry Chapin and his music and felt heartbroken when he died, but cannot agree that he was the best story teller song writer. John Prine will forever be that and no one will ever be as good as John. Evocative story telling was John Prine’s forté. Following John for story telling lyrics, but not melodys, was Shel Silverstein. ❤❤❤ one for each 😢😢😢

  This is so horrible! Those poor guys suffered for no reason whatsoever!! I don't understand why the US Navy didn't attempt to rescue these guys?? I mean I understand that not all of the 140 men wouldn't have survived...but they could have saved as many as they could...😢 Their suffering could have been preventable...i don't understand the US Navy's reasoning for not searching for the survivors sooner and rescuing them before they went crazy from lack of food and water....and from their wounds...
