Exercise is absolutely essential for anyone with Parkinson's disease. Exercise is the only thing that slows, stops and maybe even reverse the progression of Parkinson's disease. Everything else just masks the symptoms.
Every workout, blog or interview is specifically designed to help you fight the symptoms and source of Parkinson's.
It's tough. It has to be. That is why it works. And trust me...
This. Stuff. WORKS.

Great! video. I will do the routine.
Ps very good exercises too!
I like this chap’s presentations especially his noises! 😂
The noises enhance the exercise.
Thanks!
WOW! Thank you. I am so glad you like the videos.
Thank you so much! You have covered it all. Had Alzheimer’s symptoms 2 years before Parkinson’s. Challenging. Last doctor’s visit bloodwork came back with low thyroid. Parkinson’s tires you out enough. Having trouble with stepping off curb. Started crying first time husband helped me step down. I can see the distance down but I guess my diseases makes me feel like I am stepping down in a deep hole. Didn’t have help going out of dining room at Cracker Barrel just going to restroom no problem I thought but there was a divider separating it from rest of restaurant. It was a gold medal strip. I was upset seeing it. What to do? Well after stopping for a minute at least I picked up my “knees” to go over it! It was overwhelming to me. Not going anywhere without help! Thanks again for video. Really have problems with gait.
I hope these techniques help. Parkinson's is a lot to get used to. Your movements have to be much more planned and intentional. I have a short coming out soon about a way to deal with thresholds. I will post it very soon.
Thanks for the video but do you have some move to counter onset of freezing not so obvious
Yes I do. The 4 Ss: Stop, Sigh, Shift and Step. Here is the short version: kzread.infoXFrloII5K5A?feature=share I hope this helps.
Thanks Zack! You are amazing! I’ve never been one to exercise, but… events being what they are, I need to. Shockingly, I now look forward to my daily workout to one of your YT videos. Your humor, enthusiasm and concern are inspirational.
Wow! Thank you. Glad you like the videos. Keep At It!

Thankyou so much for these stretches and advice it has been life saving. I'm investigating movement disorders for myself and I had extreme neck pain that not even my physio can do much for. Thankyou ❤️
You're so welcome! I'm glad it has helped. Check out this video about "coat hanger neck pain". It might be what you are feeling. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hX-d1aWjcb25Zrg.html And you might find some relief.
I have a mild brain injury, if I've been in a supermarket I feel so dizzy and fatigued I start to be unable to to feel and control my legs it's like my brain can't tell my legs to move like they feel heavy and like they're made of water and I shuffle and drag the feet. Clark elliot in his book the ghost in my brain, talks about a similar thing only he would get so severe he couldn't move at all, though he was trying to push on in life, but doorways were a real problem with him he couldn't get through them, so what on earth is happening with us compared to a parkinson sufferer. We can be fine but certain triggers send us down, clark did recover with glasses from the mind eye institute which raises more questions, but they kind of talked about the lenses retraining his brain to use parts that weren't damaged.
My theory is that the stress of obstacles ("Watch out. Don't Trip. Slow Down. Be Cool.") causes interference with the neurons responsible for walking. Parkinson's or Brain Injury has reduced the number/strength of neurons or connections that are responsible for walking - it is weaker process. So, any stress can interfere with this process. The retraining makes sense because he was able to recruit some new neurons/connections into the process - he forced himself to relearn how to walk. You can do the same with threshold strategies - plan to walk up to the threshold and stop. Then step over/through the doorway and stop. Then resume walking. One thing at a time. A new set of instructions can help you deal with the stress of the obstacles around you. But, lots of obstacles can be draining. I don't have a good strategy other than significant retraining through regular intense exercise - mass retraining.
Thank you….
Thank you too!
Hello! My husband has lived with Parkinson Disease 🦠 all his life and it has caused him lots of pain and discomforts which are unbearable. He has undergo so many therapy and none helped except for Dr Madida Sam natural protocol he undergo and after the treatment plans my husband PD 🦠symptoms was all reversed and my husband is now 48yrs and he looks strong, he is healthy and very okay now… All thanks to Dr Madida on KZread.
great find, good prescriptions, easy to follow, fun personable... currently sitting at desk, wondering how many of those (if any) are ok to do while seated. anything more to counteract protruding neck rigidity? that's my primary issue and cause of both upper back and neck pain that climbs into headaches that the meds seem not to touch. i take it you dont visit chiros.
You can do all of these seated except maybe the arm stretches. You might have to turn away from the desk to do the flys. You might get some help for your neck and headaches in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hX-d1aWjcb25Zrg.html
Always enjoy Zach’s workouts and humor!! He makes it fun and helpful!! Thanks Zach👍🤗
You are very welcome!
I am not only happy am alive but also glad that "DrMadida" was able treat and cure me with his herbal medication of my parosmia, Meniere disease and Parkinson disease(PD) with their herbal treatment🌿🌿🍃
My brother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last year and his physical therapy and going to the gym every day that his wife pushes him to and he boxes has actually reversed many of his symptoms and his ticks. It’s absolutely incredible. How exercise and moving and muscle brain memory has completelychanged everything it’s so so true thank you for sharing your channel so important
That is great to hear! I am so glad he is doing better. This stuff really works. Keep encouraging him to FIGHT BACK! Gift ideas: a water bottle he can use with boxing gloves on, T-Shirts, new boxing gloves, a cool gym bag for his gloves.
I love it! Our bodies are amazing!
It’s always fun exercising with Zach!! He makes it fun and beneficial!!👍👍😁
Thank you!!!
U seem ignored with the questions 😡
I am a little annoyed. I think people expect a "silver bullet" as if there is one single exercise to do that is all you need to do. "Do 13 squats and cure PD!" Exercise is unique to everyone. We all have to find what we like to do... and then do it. There is no single thing that works for everyone. Sorry to seem annoyed.
This is just what I'm looking for! Thanks! But I have to know-are you related to Nate from DailyDosePD? You sound just like him.
Glad you like the video. As far as I know, Nate and I are not related, but Great Great Grammy was a wild one. We could be distant kin.
THURSTON HOWELL THE THIRD.
Indeed! Pardon my mistake, Little Buddy.
Is it because it trains muscle strength as well as brain muscle connection?
Yes. It keeps the body healthy and stimulates brain growth. Actual brain growth - new neurons, new connections. Intense exercise stresses the movement processing portions of the brain causing them to respond with new neural pathways. The same way a muscle grows after physical stress - exercise.
This was great Can you tell me where I can see more Alan from Ireland
Sure. Right here at The Parkinson's Gym channel. Just Subscribe!
My husband has Parkinson’s. He does this as well. At some point your 5 points do not work. Mentally it is hard for them to understand what is happening and how to “correct” it. A walker can help. Therapy is essential. This is a very cruel disease for sure. My grandmother and an uncle had it as well.
You are exactly right. This is just the base of all the techniques. Stop. Reset. Try it again. Look for my video on anti-freeze tricks. There may be some new things you can try. But, patience is always required. Keep fighting. Please contact me if you think I could be of any help- [email protected].
Zac, you really are great! This is a good one. I'm glad I found you. Parkinson's who? I recently fine-tuned my medicine and my workout strategy, with two very notable improvements - A) it's critically important to keep my carbidopa/levidopa intake AT LEAST an hour away from meals B) this in-turn maximizes the medicines effectivness and makes for exercise to be more fluid, less awkward. For me it works best as follows: take medicine, wait 30 minutes, workout for 30 minutes, rest a bit, then eat. Peace/Kel
Great to hear, Kel! This is an excellent strategy to get the most out of your workouts. Keep Fighting Back! Meds to exercise. Exercise to move. Move to live.
I have had PD for a long time, I hate the term.
How can I see the other videos
Subscribe to The Parkinson's Gym channel! We have tons with a new video every 10 days.
So what about a weighted bow tie and tying it snuggly around one’s neck🤔?
I tried that. My neck hurt, I was recruited for a barber shop quartet and someone asked to join a country club but It didn't help my voice at all. And, someone called me "Thurston".
Zak. Any new programs I have been using these ones from Belfast Ireland
Yes! I post a new video every 10 days. Are you looking for something specific?
Best parkensons trainer out there!!

Thank you, Zac. I follow your exercises most days & they are very helpful & fun. I love Laura, the cat joining in.😊 When I find myself slouching, the matador stance comes immediately into mind 😂. I told a friend about it & when she sees me slouching, she immediately shouts matador at me..😂
Wonderful! Great to hear. OLE!!!!
Thanks a lot! I am a caregiver for a Parkinson’s patient and the neck rigidity is painful at times.
Glad to help.

😅😅😅@@TheParkinsonsGym
Thanks 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Thank You, that was a good explanation. I noticed volume is low, need to increase sound
Sorry about that
Thank you this is what i feel and been to so many specialist and nothing. My grandma had parkinsons and my dad Ataxia. Ive brought this up but they say Im only 48 so it cannot be but no testing. This is a very good video with great information.
Happy to help. It might be Parkinson's but it might not be. Age doesn't really matter. Look for a Movement Disorder Specialist. They know the symptoms, testing and options better for whatever it is.
i get this when wearing heavy winter garments.
Yes. Heavy clothes do hang on your shoulders pretty hard. I recommend a snugger fit to distribute the weight of the garment to your body or move south.
@@TheParkinsonsGym it just went away compeltely overtime. still same clothes. doesn't happen anymore.
@@danbee415 That is great! It sounds like maybe you got stronger across your shoulders or you got your shoulders set better to even out the load and not bother the nerves.
Nonsense!! Pls, don't laugh and enjoy while talking about a deadly disease like "Parkinson's disease". Be Serious in talking and Explaining about a very Painful and deadly diseases ... Or take another Subject like Romantic Or Comedy, then you can laugh and enjoy in Plentiful... People suffering from "Parkinson's disease", by "Swallowing" Problem is very very difficult and most dangerous thing to them, ... first they limits the Solid foods, b'coz of very difficulty in Swallowing .... then liquids and flouids taking in, b'coz of very difficulty in Swallowing ... then after, even they can't breathe air also, then in next step is,... they'll go to" Coma Conditions" ... It is very horrible Situations in their life, that is the end level ..... 😢 😢 😢
I am sorry you feel this way. But, I understand this situation extremely well. My father died from Parkinson's because he could no longer swallow and eat. It was a horrible end to a wonderful life. Swallowing disorders are not funny but a dark solemn approach doesn't make it any better. Laugh while you can. My dad would agree.
Keep tips coming plus
Simple but superb ! Thank you very much. With the assistance of experts like you, I am quite fit and strong at 64 years. For those who want to strengthen their necks further, you may please suggest doing some of the exercises while lying on a bench with the head suspended beyond the bench putting extra weight on the neck. Please continue to guide us. Shiva, advocate, Mysore, Karnataka, India.

Thank you! I do not recommend resistance exercise for the neck alone. Some do. I don't. Too much can go wrong with extremely bad results. However, I do recommend strengthening the shoulders and upper back with overhead presses and horizontal pulls (rows, etc.) as much as your shoulders will allow. The neck is complex, vulnerable and important. The shoulders do a good job supporting and bracing the neck without risking the structures in the neck.
