    Extreme bullshit with the EU stuff. You blamed EU the most among CrowdStrike, Microsoft and the Sysadmins. Your logic that implementation of security API would have solved this is very flawed. This sensor product is designed to run low in the kernel and observe EVERYTHING. Most likely, CrowdStrike wouldn't migrate sensors to Microsoft API due to limitations and effort needed. Microsoft can't force the migration because Windows features are practically NEVER deprecated. So these companies would keep using kernel access. You are ultra biased towards Microsoft so your opinion about any incident regarding Microsoft is not trustworthy. I'm sorry but it is the truth.

  • @karlfimm

    This is a very biased video. The EU didn't block Microsoft from making a security API for 3rd parties. It blocked Microsoft from making a security API for 3rd parties but allowing their own product (Defender) to bypass that API to get an unfair advantage. That's classic anti-competitive behaviour.

    well then if others want to bypass that API, then they can just do that by making their own operating system no? fair game.

    was the lack of gradual rollouts caused by the EU? was the lack of proper testing in the kernel driver EU's fault? did the EU force a ton of admins to install a closed-source kernel module? The reason why almost no admin installs crowdstrike on Linux (explaining why it wasn't on the news the crash on debian) is because having a tainted kernel (tainted being the official term) is a huge source of potential issues. Don't forget that Linux has around 90% of the server market. Also, there are more secure ways to protect a Linux server, such as running containers (cgroups which is the industry standard with socket) with apps behind selinux or tomoyo if you need syscall level enforcement.

    Exactly my thought. They coded there update like morrons, made a huge mistake by forcing this update without proper testing, a friday (never do that) and they blame EU ??!!? I know some poeple are gona say this is not microsopft fault, it's CrowndStrike's fault and i partially agree. But why do they test the update without checking the channel used for it ?

    There is just so much wrong here. Linux and Mac have open source kernel so anyone can make changes not only the drivers but any code there. I do not know what secrets M$ runs on their kernel and why it's not public. Also it's not EUs decision that M$ keeps us blind.

    Problem is, corporations don't care, least of all huge international companies. Nor do hegemonies, like the EU, give a shit about actual people. Problem with both is they are far to removed from the individual client, citizen. Windows should be split off from MSFT, to be a stand-alone business. That Windows business can then focus on Windows to make sure it is the best OS thus keeping users happy thus keeping money flowing.

    Hi! Im looking to purchase copilot 365 for business and I'm really interested in the data grounding thing. You mentioned, that you can give copilot three reference files for the grounding. What im asking is that how much data can be in those threee reference files? Can I, for example, give it a 9000 page PDF that consists all of my companys email communications and whatsapp conversations etc, and would it treat it as a one file? SO my question in essence is that how much stuff can you jam into the data grounding thing? Thanks!!

    So the Checkpoint updates are, basically, going to be like a feature update without any of the features? Think 1903 but without anything special and just for WU to separate distribution. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a twice per year or even a quarterly thing.

  • @ThisWeekinIT
    @ThisWeekinIT9 күн бұрын

    Checkpoint updates are a technical delivery mechanism. It’s not about specific features or security updates.

  • @eyevou
    @eyevou9 күн бұрын

    @@ThisWeekinIT I don't believe I got the point across very well. The feature updates separated WU channels into different branches (Think Cumulative Updates for 22H2 vs 23H2). Instead of having up to 11 months of updates (The CUs are starting to balloon to 800mb+ PER MONTH) with a "checkpoint" it would only be 2 or 5 months between the branch updates. Admins would be expected to have up-to-date media while the rolling update users would have smaller install sizes for their on-disk installs, with the new branches not containing as much. It's kinda the reason Microsoft was doing the whole xx03/xx09 thing in the first place - to decrease the size of the updates WU was pushing. I would assume that Microsoft will also be releasing checkpoint install media/ISOs each time they decide to push out one of the checkpoints.

I have copilot plus and when I log into 365 using the free versions of the online apps, there are no copilot controls. Logging into business basic also shows nothing which you covered. No way am I buying a full year of O365 Copilot just to mess around.

    There are so many benefits to ARM-based Windows devices. Speed and battery life are huge, but also the ability to use the device without fans running constantly and seeing the computer quickly wake up when I open it. The AI features are very low on my list of reasons to buy an ARM-based PC. Microsoft has been trying for so long to make ARM work for Windows. It seems they're taking it seriously this time since they didn't release an Intel/AMD variant of their devices.

    the one and only feature-change of this nonsense needed is: - Don't make it a mandatory install. - Make it an additional download for the nerds. - If someone is crazy enough to do so, let them destroy their life - things they already do with their smartphones and 100+ apps they "need". Why are such things part of an operating-system, and why are some/many users think its a great idea. If you forgot which shirt you were looking at an hour ago, the world stops spinning ? You don't have to use Windows is such a stupid take. You use the OS which runs the software you want to run and/or which is the standard in your workplace. On the first point, one could use adapter layers like Wine as a counterargument but it's never gonna be perfect.

  • @ThisWeekinIT

    I don't see people complaining much about Windows at work. At work, data security is more the concern of the business than the individual.
