It's a little sticky for sure.... but I'm sure it loosens up as you do it - I clean mine after every range session, so It shouldn't take too long.

From what I've personally observed and results I've seen reported on other channels, there is no meaningful gain from 16" to 24" in terms of velocity. The biggest gain is sight radius. The propellants used are used up rather quickly in the barrel. Yes, forend was what I was looking for lol.

I took this to the range and it shot right to point of aim and the groups were small - I was just shooting off-hand but they were like 1.5” -2” at 15 yards at an indoor range. I am very pleased with that given the ammo was mixed brass handloads - 158 gr lead swc with beveled bases at about 900-950 fps.

Thanks for sharing your unboxing. I'm curious if after a year you have any regrets or other info to share. I'm personally in the market for a 5.5" barrel in .357. Evidently the 5.5" models are harder to find. But I think I'm sold on the Cimarron Frontier because of it being closest to the size and operation of the original Colts.

Absolutely no regrets. As mentioned these are used in Cowboy Action Shooting so get plenty of use and absolutely no issues. They shoot to point of amil - windage very close - of course, the elevation will vary with the loads. I haven't filed the front sights as the big targets are so close that there's no need - they shoot a little low with my CAS loads. Likely will shoot low for you too but that's the best way to go out of the box with these.

They get cheaper import tax's fee's, hence a cheaper gun price. They 100% true Italian imports don't have the safety, but they usally start around $ 1000 and up. They pay a higher import tariff by not having a safety, thats why they charge more.

It will go either way. But there should be a little taper going left to right as you hold the gun as to shoot - so remove right to left and install left to right. Sometimes there is knurling on the right side of some guns - depending on the part.

Hey all! Just saw they make a 24" barrel for a 357, and it got me wondering how much, if any, velocity would it add as opposed to a 20"? I assume at a certain point barrel length ceases to be a factor?

Yes you are right about that . The 24” doesn’t really give much more velocity as the powder burns completely in the first 16” of the barrel. But it does give more sight radius and forward weight.

I have a question.... A friend of mine says to leave the buckhorn sight on for closer ranges and the tang for long range. Do you subscribe to this and if so, why did you remove??

I don't know what "long range" means but for me with 357 Mag... it's not going to be over 150 yards... and the Marble sight has click adjustments so just have it set to closer range and then if you need to go longer, click click. You can leave the buckhorn on if you like... and use it for close and then flip up the tang sight for longer - not a bad way to go - just a preference thing.

Well, I have to admit, I don't know... I've only shot it out to 50 yards... and limited at that. I was just wanting to check zero for the sights. I need to get a new camera or two to make decent range vids... and I would really like to get my own land again... so I can shoot without concern about other shooters following the safety rules...

No, I handload +P 38 Specials - 140 grain Lehigh Defense copper solids - defenders iirc - at about 1000 fps.

It does shoot .357 Mag 158 grain loads right to point of aim though - if you're wondering. The 38's are just a bit high but nothing that would be a concern in a defensive shooting - like 1" at 10 yards.

One thing I don't think you mentioned, but you can clearly see in your comparison: the rifle is drilled and tapped for a tang sight from the factory. The carbine is not. So if you want to put on Lyman or marbles tang peep sight, the 24 does that more easily from the factory.

Great description of this product! Question: I have a 20'' 92 in .357 with a round barrel. The stock front sight that came with mine appears to be about twice as tall as the one on your rifle. Do you think the Marble sight has enough elevation adjustment to allow it to be used with a tall front sight, out to say 200 yards?

Yes the Marble Arms sight has quite a bit of adjustment range. You can always get a lower front sight too.

I did it myself - if you are reasonably able to use tools, you can easily do it - but a gunsmith shouldn't charge much to do it. The buttons are around $24 iirc. Check out onlineoutpost.net or stevesgunz.com

I haven't really put it to "the test" but it's as good as any AKM I've ever owned - all of which were military kit based. You really can't go wrong with a good de-milled kit build. These are quality builds..

The barrel on my King Cobra carry is clocked a bit to the right as I look down the sights causing it to shoot a couple inches left at 10 yards. I'm a little disappointed.

For the money you pay for a Colt, I would send it to them to fix that.... seriously. It can at least be regulated... mine is and so should yours be. I took mine to the range and shot Magtech 158 Grain hollow points and it shot right to point of aim at 15 yards. Same with some Fiocci 158 gr hp's. Don't know about lighter loads...

Thought I'd add that I was able to get this to the range and sight it in. The handloads that I shot though it with the top load of Power Pistol with the 240 grain powder coated bullets shot into one hole at 25 yards. Need to test it out at 50 and 100 but that was very satisfying. The red dot does feel a little too high, so I may trade it out of a low-mounted one. I do like the 2MOA dot size though. The aperture sight is perfect. And luckily, the windage was spot on, so no need to drift the front sight. Thanks for all of the comments and new subs!

Have you considered adding a prism scope instead of a red dot? I have an aperture sight already but wanted to add something with slight magnification. You’re the only one who has done this level detail on both sights in one video, thanks for the hood info!

@SouthpawTommy Thanks. I like the red dot - but I think I agree with others that want it mounted low to the bore - so I many get one that will do that - and use this on one of my AR's... I'm not too concerned with magnification bc I wouldn't target anything much farther out than 100 yards with this and if I do need to, the dot is adequate for that IMHO.

The trunions are forged actually which is the most durable manufacture method. Casting can be prone to fracture due to the crystalline organization of the steel. Now MIM is perfectly good for certain applications- Ruger for example uses that for parts of their guns and they are very durable.

Seems to be doing just fine - did not loosen under recoil but I have not given it anything like a thorough test yet... It was fortunately spot on for windage when I sighted it in.

I don't know what "long range" means but for me with 357 Mag... it's not going to be over 150 yards... and the Marble sight has click adjustments so just have it set to closer range and then if you need to go longer, click click. You can leave the buckhorn on if you like... and use it for close and then flip up the tang sight for longer - not a bad way to go - just a preference thing.

Thank you = I am not the greatest video tech that is for sure! The publishing app I was using was really hard to get adjusted right... I'm doing better now but still need much improvement.
