Alan Bair's fishing adventures (Retired Army Vet)
Born and raised in Mount Morris, Michigan. Settled down with my awesome wife (Dr. Kelly) just south of Nashville, TN. I'm a, 25 year, retired Army Veteran posting fishing trips, how to videos, tricks to catch big ones, around Nashville, TN...mostly Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake. Built, inspected, and flew Cessna aircrafts. Completed my Masters Degree in Business. We downsized our 41 acre horse farm life & property to enjoy more things like fishing, Halloween & Christmas yard displays (for me). My wife enjoys quilting and teaching accounting.

My brothers! I just moved to Nashville from South Louisiana inshore fishing. I love big fish and I cannot lie! What tackle setup? Splitshot and live minnows? Drop shot rig? Deep AF like where the Stones River runs through it? Ledges? Muchos gracias
You two had a blast that day!
Had lots of fighting and line running. I had 55 minutes of video to shorten down to what you saw here and that can be hard sometimes...lol
Glad your posting videos again!
Alan, thanks for your service and the good review. I ordered the same boat with a 200hp DTS motor today from BassPro in Nashville. I currently have a 2012 Targa V18 WT with a 115 hp Mercury and it's been a good boat. The comments about any discrepancies to look for is helpful. All the best!
ok. I'm ready to go fishing
My schedule, it's probably more open than yours, so just let me know😊
Nice catch and video
Thank you very much!
💞Wow🧡🤍🤍🤍🤍🧡🤍🤍🤍
Had a lot of fun though a second set of hands would have been even better.
Nice catch sir. Notice you got thumper on. What area do you catch them at ?
Thank you for your comment. There are several places where I can get them. As you well know, they tend to move around quite a bit and they're pretty fast in their schools. My electronics help me find the schools.
You need to watch your own video you can’t see you throw the net or Harley pick the lines up
Nice unboxing! Great tank
I really like the tank alot. Thank you for your .comment.
I got really excited when I found your video and this product. It could be great... but WHY would they put in all of that work and then not use flush plumbing inside the tank?? Totally dropped the ball there. Hopefully they realize what an easy fix that would be and implement that in the future.
This might be a better answered question on their KZread channel. Chiller Bait Tanks
Finally after hundreds of videos you have finally given me the ability to throw a cast net. A thousand times thank you!
I'm so glad you were able to find one technique that works good for you. Thank you for your comment.
That tug is my drug! Sweet striper in the mix! 🎣🐟🐟🐟
We had fun 😁
Have you considered hydraulic trim tabs? We are thinking of getting them for my father-n-laws 2017 Tracker Deep Vee 17. I have them on my 21 foot bay boat and they help minimize bow lift and gets on plane much faster.
Just ordered mine today. Should get next week. Going with the 225
You'll enjoy your selection. Are you going to use it for fishing or recreation? If fishing... what do you normally fish for? End of Sept. 2023 I'll be doing a one year review of pros and cons I've experienced.
@@yzzufriab bass, crappie and gills on the inland lakes. perch out in Lake Michigan, will graduate to some downriggers to chase salmon, will be hitting up the Detroit river and Lake Erie for walleye etc. I got the tournament edition/combo. So will be using it for both recreational and fishing
awesome, I live in TN now but I was born in Michigan. I do miss Northern Pike and Perch.@@andrewwolf832
I wonder does this tank work well with saltwater? Im really interested in this tank. ..Thanks for the unboxing. Very nice tank.
Yes, this tank works just fine in salt water conditions and freshwater conditions.
Love that bait tank!
Thanks for pointing me in this direction.
What brand live scope?
Thank you for your comment. It's called a Garmin LiveScope. LiveScope shows live sonar under and around the boat. Panoptix is an all-seeing sonar that gives you the ability to see all around your boat in real time and in 3 dimensions.
Thanks
You're welcome
Thank you for this instruction! RLTW!
You're welcome. (RLTW)
I understand I lost over 80 views and several comments by reposting this video but the original video was missing a slide that needed to be in this video.
Hi Alan. Hi Dan. Looks like a good day. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your comment and it's great to hear from you.
Looks like a sumo spoon bait
Hi Matthew, Thank you for your comment. Actually, called a Bink's spoon 1/2oz
Yeah I saw it in another comment. I use the Sumo spoons here in Clarksville for the Skipjack.
@@matthewwarner5050 I've never used a Sumo before...might have to try one. We have nice weather this week here in Nashville but I'm helping someone move so not sure if I'll be out on the water for a few days.
I caught 40 skipjack yesterday, but I used a sabiki rig. LoL, it was a lot of fun. Only took an hour to fill a cooler. On one cast I caught 6! I had never caught that many in one cast before.
@@matthewwarner5050 I'd love to see a picture of that rig and maybe some of those fish. I've never caught that many fish in one cast before. Wow....I've actually never caught a SkipJack before.
Let’s go fishing boss! Stationed at Ft Campbell
Not quite a fishing boss but thank you for your comment.
Launched out of Seven Points the other day and caught my first hybrid and small mouth
@Matthew Warner Thank you for your comment. Awesome, It's exciting to get a good fight out of the fish.
Are you using the “thumping method” to draw in the fish? If so can you explain how to perform this method? Also do you have a video on this technique? Enjoyed the video.
What kind of jigs are you using?
Mostly on this day I was dead sticking with Bink's spoons but two of the Hybrids were caught on 3 in. bluegill (live bait)...I think I was also using Zoom SuperFlukes
I have a 2022 V18 but with the 200 ProXS. I scratched mine up pretty good with some dock rash so I need to have it touched up and replace some of the stickers lol. First time boat owner mistake. I also only have the 2 steps on the trailer but as a younger guy (30s) I can still handle it. Good video!
Honestly, I never special ordered the 3 steps for this trailer. That's just what came from the factory for the V19... I'm so sorry you scratched your motor up ... that sucks. Actually I'm glad it came with the 3 steps because it helps grand kids that have short legs.
Excellent boat. And thank you for your service to our country.
You're welcome. I do love this boat. Can't say enough goods things about it from all the storage to all the elbow room for family and friends. Thank you for your comment.
Would you be able to send me pictures of the inside of your locker?
This boat has 3 Rod lockers...specific one?
@@yzzufriab I’m sorry. I’m focused on the center rod locker. I’m looking for pictures inside under the bow area. I’m wanting to put a recessed foot pedal if I buy one, but am curious of the framing underneath the bow deck.
Ok so I love your boat! So My first question is the basic lowrance does it have gps? And do you have to buy maps for it ?Also I know the minn kota does not have I pilot but can u upgrade to a power drive with I pilot which is what the new ones are?
Thank you for your comment. I picked it up at the end of August of 2022, and it's really nice. Yes, it does have GPS and comes with 4000 US lake maps. You haven't needed to upgrade any of the lake maps, but I think that you can if you want to purchase upgrades later. I have the navionics app on my phone, and I use that every time I hit the lake. You can purchase a kit to upgrade the minn kota power drive trolling motor to ipilot. Just so you know, any power drive trolling motor dated 2007 or older is not upgradable to ipilot.
need a video on installing the cover thanks
Boat Cover?
Those are all Channel cats.
Oh sorry...I actually thought 2 of them looked blueish...I'll have a 2nd look....thanks.
Awesome! Had a great time out there on Sunday myself!
Thanks for your comment. I supported many venders and spent way more than I was going too....LOL
Great work👍
Thank you
I want to see the perfect circle ⭕
LOL
Great review Alan, I to got the exact same model but in the 2022 18WT version. # hrs so far then the Cal rains came.. My boat was also in near perfect condition, also no scratches no dents, toggles were reversed for live wells but all else was good. Looking forward to some warmer drier weather for a test of Cal Delta fishing and the great Shasta and Lake Oroville reservoirs. Duped your break-in procedure. Well done
Thanks for your comment. I'm also very ready for drier and warmer days. We've been getting alot of rain here also.
Great work mate👍
Thank you so much hope it helped or at least hope you enjoyed.
What a terrible narrator talking abiut his own boat why bother dude ur video is worthless also
Great walk through. I have a couple bits of advice for you, and any other Targa owners. First, the trailer winch post has some issues. If you get on a steep ramp, and have to winch the boat up on the bunks, it puts too much stress on the welds at the base of the winch post. There have been several complaints where the post has pulled rearward or broken off completely. You can easily make (and there's some guys selling them) a gusset to go forward of the post and attaching to the trailer frame. This gives it enough extra support to remedy the weak point at the base. Second.....do yourself a favor and throw the Hook2 in the lake (I did). Mine was extremely unreliable for reading depth. In fact it was the direct cause of me hitting a rock while navigating a narrow channel. I went with 2 Garmin Map units, one for fish and one for charts and depth, but almost anything is better than that Hook!! Otherwise, my 2020 V18 has been a solid boat that I would recommend to anyone, especially at $11k (ish) cheaper than an equivalent Lund or Starcraft. Have fun!
Thank you so much. I appreciate that. I'm actually thinking of changing out the crank lift on this brand new trailer also because there are areas when I'm pulling it that I need to drop it and if it is too low or too high it is a problem. I especially have an area that I park it under, and it is a low-level spot. So I can't even Swivel the attached Jack so that it will lock in place and then allow me to start cranking. I need to find a different style that allows me to lock it in place on an uneven ground.
Congrats. Looked hard at the Targas but ended up going a different direction.
Nice fat hybrids. Look healthy for sure! Those Drum will fool you every time! Thanks for sharing. Tight Lines.
Thanks so much for your comment. yes, those Drums will fool you...lol. I got some NEW Super Flukes that I can't wait to try out.
Great stuff Alan. Keep it up. Tight Lines.
thank you....you too 🙂
Perfect fishing day!!!
Thank you so much. It actually was really nice up until the rain started trying to come in....lol
hiya!~ Yeah.you made superb video, Alan!)
Thank you
By the way thank you for subscribing I returned the favor.
Would really like to know the brand of trailer steps and where to purchase? Thanks Ed
Let me look into that and I'll let you know. Those steps came with the trailer and boat as a package when I purchase them this year.
Ed, I've hit a brick wall on the brand of those trailer steps...sorry.
Awesome underwater view….. Fish on
Thanks for stopping by...hope this helps :-)
Can you lay the Bimini top down and use the jumper seats. Also what’s the trick to use the cleats
I don't have jumper seats that came with this boat. My seats are all on pedestals. As far as the cleats go they sit pretty tightly when they're flush so you just have to use some finger strength to pop them up.
@@yzzufriab 🤙
@@bobdelaney1835 I can tell you that the Bimini top does lay down when I have those pedestal seats in any position. I have noticed that if you're trying to get into the back live well with the Bimini top laying down flat it doesn't raise all the way up unless you unfasten either side latch for the Bimini top so that you can raise your lid up.
Finally a Targa 19 review video. I thought guys just weren’t buying this boat anymore 😂 great review!
Thank you for your comment. Glad you liked it. I've had it out a couple times so far for motor break in and I love it. Very roomy and tons of compartments.
Congrats on the boat! How was the red color underfoot, in the sun. Will it burn you like a black color boat? Thanks
Thank you. Not sure if the Red color is as hot as the Black. Luckily I got the Bimini for rain and sun. Thanks for your comment.
Look into a cover for the windshield, so rocks that fly up won't Crack it .
I definitely will be ....thank you for your input and your comment. 😊
