  I still think that if the Sonic series wanted to use human NPC's again, they should share Billy Hatcher's art style. It just fits so perfectly in my opinion.

  Yeah, i always thought they should go with an unleashed/billy hatcher cartoon style. Realistic humans kinda worked in sa1, but as graphics got better the disparity between the people and animals became too much, they looked out of place

  Man, my brothers and I used to play the multiplayer so much when we were kids. Whenever a rare Sonic egg spawned we would fight like heck to steal it from each other. Ragequitting upon having the hatched Sonic character stolen was NOT uncommon… I recall a GameCube controller being thrown once after one of us rolled a Sonic egg off the edge to keep someone else from hatching it. Absolute mayhem. Good times, haha.

  I love that you made this video and covered the Sonic the Fighters community, but I'll be pedantic and say that having a 3 button system is the most common for a 3D fighting game at the time (Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, Dead or Alive), the only ones who didn't do this are Namco (Tekken and Soul Edge/Soulcalibur) Also, Score Running, while not as big as Speed Running in the Sonic community, is still a thing with games like Sonic Adventure 2. Finally, while I'm more of a fighting game guy. I never knew all of what you said about Sonic Riders! Take back whay you said about Sonic R!!! Treat the characters like a car instead of a platformer and then most of your issues are solved.

  I still find it weird how sega, a company famous for its arcades, made sonic the hedgehog, a game controlled only with one button (& dpad) to imitate arcade games while being original to the genesis, yet the only sonic arcade games we got was an isometric platformer and 3D fighter. I would’ve killed to get a game like sonic 2, exclusive for arcades.

  This short but comprehensive retrospective was pretty good! I'd say the biggest omissions were Stopmotion animations. Series like Sonic Stop Motion Adventures by Piplupfan77, Sonic Chronicles and Sonic Versus by Supesonicboom, Speed Stories and Sonic Stop Motion Collab by Lifeline the Hedgehog, plus many miscellaneous ones by PilotTails, AzFastAZLightning, SMBShippuden4, SonicToast, and so many more! Also other great content from back in the day were Live-Action fan films like Return to Little Planet by the now animator Sasso Studios, Sonic Live by BrackonStudios, Sonic the live-action film by Supersonic68, and of course the Sonic Fanfilm by Blue Core Studios. (Also, talking about AMVs, huge shout-out to StormRedDesert, their content was arguably the best around back in the day! )

  I'm 10 years older than you and it's a little crazy for me to be old enough now that someone 10 years younger could make a video about stuff I liked as a kid lol Being the target demographic age at the time they were popular I can confirm that those weird sprite animation videos with text to speech voices were popular and I watched them often. I guess when you're 11 you don't have much of an eye for quality. Screamer videos were also common around that time and I distinctly remember being tricked by a video that was the intro to Sonic Heroes with a screamer in it and getting really scared by it. It's certainly not on KZread anymore. Cool video btw

  I would like to point out that The Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games isn't really Canon for reason that'll be a mouthful to explain Edit: Megaman should also count as a Rival to Sonic in the Archie comics, if you read the entire thing or watch the dub version on KZread, you can see what I mean

Most fans either know Mecha Sonic from s3k or smbz, official or not it still introduced many sonic fans to the character, who might i add only has an appearance in 1 mainline game, a Lego spinoff, and a comic book. I also don't really understand what the issue is with my mention of smbz, i never claimed it to be official media in the video.
