I thought that a Conn 8h was just an 88H with out the F attachment. A .547 large bore tenor.

Potentially controversial opinion: Bolero should always be played on a straight horn. If I recall correctly, Ravel was heavily inspired by jazz tonality when he wrote it.

That was Elizabeth Koch Tiscione, Ann Lillya, Yvonne Powers Peterson, and Emily Brebach the oboes at the time. Dont know why Deborah was there at the time when she was not playing at the time of video's post

Love Ms. Chen's energy and dynamics! It is a joy watching her conduct as she takes you deep in the music the orchestra is playing. A very talented female conductor! Also love Lang Lang's stage presentation much better than some of his previous performances besides his world class playing. 台风比较收敛,但更有大家风范!气质看去深沉成熟了不少,更加有音乐家的魅力。喜欢!

I'm not sure whether the violin is a friend of the composer, but at 8:48 the former seems to give him a very cute look of pride. Wholesome.

This is NOT the perfect version of Lang Lang. Ironically, I don't think it's Lang's fault. Lang might want to constrain his performance in line with the orchestra's capacity. Just check how he played this piece with Cleveland Orchestra and Vienna Philaharmonic. Anyway, Lang did his best...

With the 8H having the same bore as your Shires it's not not a symphonic trombone. It's just a straight symphonic. The sound is very, very close to the 88H which is the classic symphonic. You'd need to go to a .525 or a .5 bore to be strictly non (modern) symphonic. Convince me I'm wrong.

Обычная ситуация, когда фальсификационная интерпретация известных произведений мирового уровня путём кривляний и разного рода известных уловок выдаётся за космическое откровение, недостижимое для простых смертных . Обыкновенная музыкальная фальшивка .

This bass trombone has two valves. I assume one lowers a Bb down to an F...but what does the other one do? Also, which one is operated by the thumb and which by the index finger? (I just obtained a Yamaha YBL-321 which has only one trigger.)

It's a fascinating piece. The textures are engaging and ever-changing, the interplay of tonal and abstract combinations and flows - vertical and horizontal, as the composer says - draws the ear in, and I thought I could hear subtle evocations of the sound-world of some 20th-century American music. The use of "prepared" instruments, and the vast palate of orchestral colours, was really imaginative. I heard it live in Glasgow, and it was an invigorating musical experience. The negative comments on it so far are written by (1) someone who can't write or punctuate English properly, (2) someone who confuses what she doesn't like with music that's artistically worthless (which is just infantile) and (3) a slack-jawed culture warror who seriously thinks that professional musicians have to be coerced into playing stuff she (I presume, from the screen name) doesn't approve of, and that this is possible because everyone is oppressed by "woke" culture. (Also, it would be "professional musicians WHO have to comply...") If I were the composer reading these comments, I'd take heart. The criticism of idiots is praise.
